Why use an ARLA Agent? Property explains all

Southcoast Property lettings and property management are members of ARLA (Association of Residential Letting Agents). Every year, unlicensed agents cause Britain's Landlords unnecessary stress and hassle, and often loss of money, by giving incorrect or misleading advice or offering poor standards of customer service. By using a Licensed ARLA agent you are guaranteed: • that the agency is covered by our Client Money Protection Scheme. • that ARLA have the ability to make discretionary grants if you suffer financial loss due to the bankruptcy or dishonesty of the member • that the agency has Professional Indemnity Insurance. This ensures you are financially covered for successful claims relating to members' negligence, bad advice or mishandling of data. • to be consulting with a qualified and trained agent who can give you professional up-to-date advice and guidance. All members are required to carry out at least a minimum level of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) each year. • that you are dealing with an agent who voluntarily follows the Code of Practice and Rules of Conduct laid down by their professional body. If an agent does not follow the code, they can be fined or in the worst cases expelled from membership of ARLA. • that you have a route to redress should something go wrong. Disciplinary process includes everything from cautions and warnings to more severe penalties of up to £5000 for each rule breached. Membership of ARLA is through qualification ensuring that ARLA members have the knowledge and experience to guide you through your property transaction as smoothly and painlessly as possible. So, if you are considering letting your property or you are looking to move into a rental property then call Southcoast Property on 01202 768885 for some free, no obligation advice.

The 18th-21st sees the Air Festival returning to Bournemouth so let’s hope for better weather this year. We will have the Official Souvenir Programmes as usual, priced at £6, with £1 going towards Forces Charities. They normally arrive in the store at the end of the first week of August. We will have plenty of stock, but do let us know if you would like to reserve a copy. Look out for our Air Festival Window again this year. We have been ‘Highly Commended’ and won an ‘Outstanding Award’ in the last couple of year’s Window Competitions, so we need to try and get our hands on that big silver trophy this year... To get you in the spirit we have recommended some aviation themed books opposite.

An Approach to Pain The Humane Genome Project, completed in 2003, was a major landmark in modern science. It identified and mapped some 20-25,000 genes in the human DNA. The aim was to find the genetic roots to disease and develop treatments. One such discovery was the pain gene, with variations that could possibly explain why some people tolerate pain better than others. It is present in everyone, has two copies, one from each parent and makes an enzyme that helps control signals in the brain that are involved in brain response. My experience with Bowen has taught me that emotions are deeply connected to pain and vice versa. The application of this gentle but powerful muscle technique not only addresses any skeletal misalignment but also penetrates to a level where deep cellular memory is released. Some clients with muscular aches and pains often experience a reduced dependency on their pain killers after and during a course of Bowen therapy. This has to be good surely? When treating back problems that respond initially well to the technique, for example a tilted pelvis, emotional issues, in certain individuals, can often surface before the completion of three sessions. This is especially relevant if there is a psoas (core muscle) involvement. This large muscle, which is conditioned by fear, originates at the mid lumbar spine and inserts on the head of the femur, thus having a major impact on the pelvis, sacrum and hamstrings. It does not shorten like most muscles but shrinks and tightens, therefore requiring specific rest positions to relax it. Eckhart Tolle, in his book, Practising the Power of Now, has an interesting approach on the subject of pain. He calls it the pain-body of which there are two levels. The pain one creates now and the pain from the past that lives on in the mind and the body. Tolle believes that the greater part of pain is unnecessary, almost self created, as long as the unobserved mind runs your life. By becoming aware of how the mind dictates this pattern of pain, as when experiencing emotions such as: irritation, anger, destructive thoughts, sadness and depression, one becomes aware of its energy field and this very awareness lessens the hold upon the body. He gives numerous interesting techniques on control and how living in the moment allows us to take command of the eogic mind. By releasing cellular memory Bowen acts as an invaluable tool allowing the mind space to process and relinquish past traumas and emotions gently. There is no time limit to this; it is individual to each person.
