The Transmission of the Future The CommandQuadTM Manual transmission gives you the ability to shift through gears and ranges without clutching by simply toggling the shift lever forward or backward. A single movement of the shift lever changes one gear at a time. When a multi-range is selected the operator has the ability to jump ranges by double toggling the shift lever. The tractor will select a gear in the next range that best matches the current speed. Ranges can also be shifted without clutching by selecting a new range button.

AUTO Mode The optional 16/16 CommandQuad Auto and the 32/16 Command 8 transmission features auto mode, enabling the operator to maintain a consistent ground speed, effortlessly. Auto mode optimizes both the engine and transmission by selecting the appropriate gear and rpm to optimize fuel efficiency. All you need to do is to set the target ground speed by using the thumbwheel, and the tractor maintains that speed. With a multi-range button selected, auto mode will shift to a gear that most closely matches the speed in the range from which you are shifting, giving you an incredibly smooth transition between gears.

The optional 16/16 CommandQuad Auto and the 32/16 Command 8 transmission features auto mode which allows the tractor to maintain a set ground speed by shifting gears and ranges automatically.

5R Series Utility Tractors | Power Bulge and Torque Reserve

Big Power When You Need It Putting more power to the ground translates to increased productivity in demanding conditions. The 5R Series features an 8 percent power bulge and 36 percent torque rise that provides the force that maintains horsepower as engine rpm drops below rated speed. This means you get up to 10 additional engine hp (7.5 kW) while transporting under load.

Save Fuel. Save Money. With features like auto mode and oil cooler bypass technology, the 5R Series’ Final Tier 4 engine delivers best-in-class fuel efficiency, requiring no refueling at 75 percent load for an 8-hour work day.

First Class Seat

Bringing the functionality of rear SCVs, PTO engagement, hitch adjustments, and loader controls to one place, the new CommandARM™ still enables you to swivel your seat while leaving controls at your finge tips.

You’ll have maximum comfort for long days in the field. And with the low-frequency air suspension seat you’ll float above the bumps and dips in the field. For optimal comfort there is a heated seat, adjustable backrest and a full 15-degrees of seat swivel providing better visibility to implements. An instructional seat is also available either factory or field installed. The spring-loaded design makes sure the seat stays folded up when not in use, and provides optimal space for entry and exit.

The CommandARM™ provides individual access to the most frequently used controls. Engine Throttle Transmission Controls Electrohydraulic PTO Hitch/SCV controls (up to four rear SCV’s) Cornerpost Display Unit Loader Joystick* * When you purchase a command arm and triple mid EH remotes you get reassignable joystick in base.

Front Axle Suspension The exclusive front axle suspension uses a hydropneumatic self-leveling system to react to the load on the front axle. In the field, the self-leveling front axle suspension maintains ground-to-tire contact and delivers more power to the ground. This means improved productivity while offering greater comfort and stability.

A left-rear fender control is standard equipment enabling you to raise/lower the 3-point hitch from outside the tractor. Additionally, a right hand rear fender control is orderable from the factory or through parts as a field conversion bringing versatility to both fenders of the tractor. To allow for more precise implement attaching, the hitch raises and drops at a slower rate than using the hitch controls inside the cab. Any preset height and depth values will be ignored when operating the fender-mounted controls. The addition of the Hitch Lift Capacity Option will raise the lifting capacity to 8,800 lbs (1571.5 kg). Adding the higher hitch lift capacity allows you to utilize bigger implements with increases productivity.

Putting the Joy in Joystick With the 5R Series, controlling your speed and direction has never been easier. Swiveling with the seat, both the mechanical and electronic joysticks are equipped with gearshift buttons for both gear and range shifting. The joystick reverser controls your direction for simple one-handed loader operation. This design improves your comfort and operational efficiency by always having the loader controls at your fingertips.

Loader features: The 5R loader joystick comes with a reverser as well as gear and range shifting to make operation simple and effortless.

1. Automatic Mast Latch: 50 percent reduction in time and steps as only one trip off tractor is required to install or remove loader. 2. Hydraulic Remote Unlatch (optional): Allows operator to unlatch front loader implement with the press of a button. Therefore you can connect or disconnect loader implements without getting out of the seat. 3. Loader Power: An increased lift capacity and higher lift heights combined with a more compact stance give you more power when you need it.

Operating without the hassle Say goodbye to the days of having to manually clutch to control braking and re-engaging the tractor.

AutoClutch™ is now in base on all 5R models AutoClutch™ automatically regulates the load on the tractor when you come to a complete stop and press the brake. It also provides the ability to inch or creep the tractor forward or reverse on a level surface or incline. In addition, you can accelerate the vehicle back to normal speed by releasing the brake. And if you prefer manually clutching, the foot pedal is still in base for you to use. AutoClutch™ is especially useful in applications that involve frequent stops such as baling. By drastically reducing the number of steps involved in operating the tractor, the 5R Series gives you all-day comfort.

5R Series Utility Tractors | AutoClutch™

You can set the sensitivity of the AutoClutch™ system in the cornerpost display. There are four modes available: • High sensitivity (default mode) • Medium sensitivity • Low sensitivity • Off – temporary setting only that is reset after a key cycle Low sensitivity would typically be used in transport applications with a towed implement, giving you better traction control.

When you count up the number of times you need to clutch to go from a full stop to full driving speed, and back again, you’ll see that over the course of a long day in the field AutoClutch™ will transform your driving experience.

5R Series Utility Tractors | Maneuverability

Tight turns? No Problem The 5R Series has an industry-leading wheelbase of just 88.6 in. (2250 mm) providing best-in-class turning with a 24.6 ft. (7.5 m) turning circle without the use of turning brakes. With an 8 percent tighter turning radius than others in its class, the 5R Series is perfect for working in challenging environments, including in and around barns, fields or livestock areas. So when you are cutting, raking, or tedding, making the turn at the end of the field will be a breeze. Variable ratio steering offers increased steering wheel turning speed and less steering effort creating less fatigue. This mean improved comfort with loader work, on the headland turns, and in tight spaces in the yard by activating a stronger steering ratio leading to less steering wheel turns.

Larger tire option Tires are a key aspect in meeting producer application needs. Tire offerings have expanded to include the 600/65R34 and the 540/65R34. These larger tires boost load carrying capacity at the same tire pressure and with a larger footprint, which can reduce soil compaction.

5R Series Utility Tractors | Lighting and Hydraulics

Hard Work Has Never Been This Easy Light up the night With the 5R Series, the darkness of night won’t keep you from getting the job done. A step light turns on every time the door is opened, and an interior dome light can be set to also turn on at the same time, giving you great visibility for entry and exit. Base equipment includes six lights: two front work lights, two rear work lights and two side work lights. All of these can be converted from halogens to LED, providing maximum brightness and a true color output. Additional options include a beacon light or loader mounted work lights.

The 5R series features a single point hydraulic connection to the new 540R loader and a choice of two hydraulic systems. The open-center hydraulic system is offered in base equipment and provides constant flow via a gear pump and open centered valves. The optional pressure-and-flow compensated system provides increased efficiency and reduced fuel consumption by providing flow on demand with a piston pump and variable flow. Matching the hydraulic capacities of these systems with the transmission options available ensures the 5R Series can tackle any task.

5R Series Tractors | Digital Corner Post Display

Command Center

The digital Corner Post Display features state-ofthe-art electronic instrumentation, eliminating the instrument cluster that once surrounded the steering column. The Corner Post Display not only increases forward facing visibility but also allows you to make quick adjustments to hitch, transmission, hydraulic, and engine settings.

With the new Corner Post Display, you can opt for iTEC™ Basic – Intelligent Total Equipment Control – to be factory-installed, simplifying several operations into one. iTEC Basic can be programmed to automate the PTO, MFWD, and differential lock functions. When engaged, it operates with the raising or lowering of the 3-point hitch – aiding in tractor and implement coordination. As the hitch is raised, then lowered, the system coordinates the tractor with the implement to operate correctly for the next pass – increasing both accuracy and efficiency. The Corner Post Display comes with the base equipment package. The guidance screen is included with factory installed AutoTrac.

New Technology Options Now you can make straighter passes and be less tired at the end of the day by using the proven benefits of AutoTrac™ automated steering on your 5R tractor, without adding an additional display. So, whether you are mowing, spraying, or doing other field work, this new feature can benefit you! You might have thought about adding guidance to your tractor before, but thought it was too expensive, or maybe too complicated. Now we made it easier, and an even better value. These tractors can now be ordered with AutoTrac™ integrated on the corner post display. All you need to add is a StarFire™ receiver and you are ready to straight track. Using the Corner Post Display for automated steering is easy, regardless of an operator’s experience. There are fewer steps so that you can get started fast and get to work with straight tracks. Re-Assignable Joystick. When you order a 5R with command arm and triple EH mid SCV’s, you get the added benefit of re-assignable joystick. This allows you to utilize the EH joystick on the command arm to operate the rear EH SCV valves. This is a great feature with many implements reducing operator inputs. If the rear SCVs are operated by the joystick, the loader can be controlled by the paddle pods on the right-hand console. This function makes it very comfortable to quickly raise and lower the loader for passing a low bridge or barn without reconfiguring the joystick.

Smart Connector Diagnostic codes, maintenance intervals and other data can be accessed through the tractor plus app from a mobile device and that data can be uploaded to the John Deere Operations center. This technology option will lead to increased uptime and reduce costs associated with unexpected repairs.

ISOBUS compatibility The 5R Series is available with ISOBUS compability as an option. 5R Tractors support ISOBUS features like the 4240 and 4640 Universal Displays and previous versions. ISOBUS sprayers, seeders, planters, fertilizer spreaders, manure applicators, and many other implements can be operated through a GreenStar™ display. 15
