BYTE CAMP 2D Animation on Tablet

3D Video Game Design

Introduction to coding

Turn your drawing skills into awesome animation skills on our tablets! We'll show you how to make beautiful animations as wild as your imagination. Participants will learn to storyboard and use some advanced animation skills to make their characters really come alive on the screen. Principles like Squash & Stretch, Anticipation and Exaggeration will be introduced in fun lessons and students will produce their own animated short films by the end of the week.

Create your own 3D Video Game! Invent your own digital worlds levels, adventures and quests using Blender, a great (& free) 3D Game Engine. Students will learn to make their own custom controls and gameplay using Blender's unique Logic Bricks design interface. Instructors will lead students through exercises to introduce the most important 3D game design skills in the early part of the week and then support students on their own projects for the second half. The final project is a game you can take home on USB. Prerequisite: Byte Camp's 3D Animation course

Discover how much fun it is to build your own game! Students will be introduced to basic coding skills with easy to use dragand-drop software, and get to use those skills to make their own games. Students will also learn how to create their own 2D vector artwork to make characters and levels that are entirely their own. The final project is a game that you can take home on USB or share online.

YOUTH LEADERSHIP Community Leaders

Recreation Leadership 1

the LEGACY project

This camp is for youth interested in giving back to their community and learning about the different occupations out there that work for their community such as emergency services. Spend time building leadership skills and exploring different locations and workplaces such as the fire hall.

Participants will be introduced to the skills necessary to become an effective youth leader and will build on their existing skills in areas including communication, leadership, team work, cooperation, behaviour management, job hunting, first aid certifications and more. All participants will then gain hands-on experience by working with West Shore staff during summer camps. (A minimum of one week full-time volunteer hours is required with one of West Shore camps.) Program graduates will receive a certificate of completion and an evaluation from camp leaders, great tools to enhance future employment opportunities. A summer recreation pass is included.

Sign up for the LEGACY project. Learn, Explore, Grow, Activate, Challenge for Youth. Youth that are looking to gain real work life experiences in a fun and engaging way. Work on team building as well as employment readiness while gaining hands on experience. Youth will be given opportunities to shadow in different departments, experiencing life working at West Shore. For the youth that is ready to get their first job and needs some direction as to where to start.
