2016 CLUB PRESIDENT
2016 FESTIVAL CHAIRMAN
Rick Decker Wife Kathy
RICK DECKER TIM MITSDARFFER
Welcome to the 95th annual West Side Nut Club Fall Festival. Kathy and I would like to invite you to the second largest street festival in the United States. The theme for this year’s Fall Festival is “Community Strong Through the Generations”. Bring your family and friends to the Fall festival this year and join the Evansville community in celebrating 95 years of this West Side tradition. Kathy and I have been residents of the west side all of our lives and have enjoyed the fall festival with our family and friends for many years. Please come to Franklin Street the first full week of October and make it a family tradition as we have. We would like to thank all of the corporate sponsors for supporting the West Side Nut Club and all of the nonprofit organizations that participate in the Fall Festival. Thank you, Rick Decker 2016 Fall Festival Chairman
(Tim and Nancy Mitsdarffer, Daughter Kelsey, Son-in-law Joey Meier, Twin Granddaughters Lettie and Mckinley.)
THROUGH THE GENERATIONS The West Side Nut Club Fall Festival has been a large part of all of our lives. Whether our first exposure was being pushed in a stroller by parents in the Pet Parade dressed as a monkey, walking down the street eating a pronto pup with mustard running down your arm, sitting on a crowded curb watching the Main Parade, working in your church’s 105 degree food booth, forgetting the words to a song you’re performing in the Amateur Hour, or just sitting in a lawn chair watching the rest of our great community pass. This is OUR Festival, the same one that our entire community embraces and helps put on as well as benefit from. We all benefit from the parking lots, food booths, rides, entertainment, and catching up with old friends. This year my family and I hope everyone continues with their past Festival practices, or make new personal Fall Festival traditions that you can carry on “Through the Generations!” You owe it to yourself and your families.

2016 FALL FESTIVAL ENTERTAINMENT
Tony Henning Monday, October 3 11:00 am - 1:00 pm Main Stage Tony Henning is a Fort Branch native playing acoustic music ranging from the classics to current hits. He takes pride in his music degree in guitar and playing a vast range of styles. After a long break from performing, he’s back doing what he loves: playing and singing at restaurants, wineries, pubs, private parties, and festivals. “I’m very excited to be a part of this year’s West Side Nut Club Fall Festival!”
ART WOODWARD & PAT COSLETT Tuesday, October 4 11:00 am - 1:00 pm Main Stage
At the tender age of 5, Art the dude’s daddy stuck a harmonica in his mouth and said, “breathe son.” He has been playing it ever since. Nowadays, he writes and performs his own brand of rock, country, blues and folk. Find out more about his music at www.artthedude.com Pat Coslett has been entertaining folks since the 70s with his humorous take on songs and his comedic ways. A friend of Michael Martin Murphy, Pat has performed alongside some notables - and some lesser known acts ... even a pig. Art and Pat met years ago during the filming of a comedy sketch and became fast friends. These days they do parodies of famous songs (i.e. Mr. Jo Bangles, Don’t dance); they perform their own original funny songs, do a stand up routine and play a LOT of humorous tunes - they even incorporated the Dusty and Lefty sketch into their act from Lake Wobegone fame. 44

Matt & Makenzie Wednesday, October 5 11:00 am - 1:00 pm Main Stage Matt & Makenzie are a father daughter group from southern Indiana who’s playlist spans two generations and multiple styles. Acoustic guitar and dynamic vocals are applied to crowd favorites. One of their trademarks is to “mash up” some of their favorite artists and songs. Their show ranges from high-energy sing-alongs to soulful ballads, not to mention some of their own original music. You’re guaranteed to have a good time and even catch yourself singing along from time-to-time. You can find more information on Facebook at “Matt & Makenzie.”
Janelle & The Godfathers Wednesday, October 5 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm & 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm Stage 2
Janelle & The Godfathers arose from a spark lit at a jam session in early 2016 between popular Evansville duo “RapTure” (Janelle and Steve) and classic folk rockers “Avalanche Rose” (Mike, Don and Tony). With vocals ranging from stirring to soulful, young Janelle energetically fronts the seasoned Godfathers, delivering an eclectic mix of rock, R&B, pop, blues, country, and ballads from the 50’s through the 80’s…with a few RapTure originals thrown in. CR3 Thursday, October 6 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm Stage 2 Carl Rodenberg III (CR3) grew up on the Westside of Evansville in a family known for their musical talent. At an early age, Carl was influenced by various musicians such as Elvis, The Beatles, Van Halen and of course his father Carl Rodenberg Jr. By the age of 9, Carl began playing the drums and then the guitar. At Mater Dei High School, he was in the infamous band “The Nons” and performed at high school fundraisers and dances. His love for music continued to grow and Carl began writing is own music. Schaum’s Pizzeria provided the perfect place for him to play his original music in front of a crowd of aspiring musicians and an audience that appreciated live originals. This is where Carl met his drummer, Larry Vowels and his guitar player, Scott Schaum. Carl joined the band Junkyard Stereo in 2014 and left to pursue his own solo career as CR3. His solo project provides a high energy show with a rock and country influence. CR3 is working on an original album with Ryan Grisham of Mock Orange at Mulberry Street Studio. 46

Bob Koch provides the beat, Joe Birkhead holds down the bottom line, Sal Aliotta is the wizard of the keys, Curt Muntzer blazes on guitar and Dave Waller holds down the rhythm and vocals. “Our music can best be described as Rock and Roll hits you remember. The music video for their debut single “Demons was filmed in Las Vegas and became a fan favorite in Iceland. In 2015 the band booked their first international tour into Iceland . Paul is currently in two bands, one of which is his original project, Paul Blake & The Pall Bearers. The other band is The Redbyrds, which is based out of Carbondale, IL. That band plays old school Country Music along the lines of Waylon Jennings and Webb Pierce. Paul also plays some solo acoustic shows around the tri-state which consist of mainly songs he wrote along with tunes from some of his favorite artists; Merle Haggard, Tom Petty, Billy Squier, and Johnny Cash, as well as many others. 49
Boscoe France Saturday, October 8 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm Stage 2 Western Kentucky has a rich history of unique and groundbreaking music that has contributed greatly to our nation’s musical heritage over the years. This diverse collection of work has directly or indirectly influenced generations of highly skilled musicians to create their own path in music history. Today, Boscoe France of Madisonville Kentucky keeps the tradition alive and well with an unreal level of talent and a connection with the guitar that’s almost indescribable. This Kentucky firebrand stands barefoot on stage, playing with the skill and talent of a master musician fused with the intensity of a bare-knuckled brawler. Boscoe France’s unique musical style is an awe-inspiring alchemy of blues, rock, country, and a little bit of soul into powerfully original approach.

Parade Grand Marshal Lilly King
In her heart, Olympian Lilly King is a true West-Sider. She graduated from F.J. Reitz High School in 2015 and Helfrich Park Middle School in 2011. Lilly is a two-time IHSAA State Champion in swimming, taking the 200 yard Individual Medley and the 100 yard Breaststroke championships in 2015. She was also named the IHSAA Mental Attitude Award winner in her senior year. During her freshman year at Indiana University, she won two Big Ten titles in the Breaststroke events. Later that spring, she took down the American Records in both the 100 yard and 200 yard Breaststrokes at the NCAA championships en route to earning National Swimmer of the Year honors. Her final honor of the school year came when she was named the Indiana University Athlete of the Year, alongside IU basketball star Yogi Ferrell. The summer of 2016 has been busy for Lilly, winning the Olympic Trials in both breaststroke events in Omaha, Nebraska. Her victories at the Trials earned her the right to compete for the USA in the 2016 Rio Olympics. She competed in the 100 meter and 200 meter Breaststroke, as well as competing in the 4 x 100 meter medley relay for the United States. Lilly loves the Fall Festival and considers the weeklong festival a true holiday. She looks forward to printing out the “munchie map” every year. Her favorite memory of the Fall Festival was in 2010, when she anchored the Helfrich Park Tug-of-War team to victory.
Parade Special Guest Class of ‘76
The F.J. Reitz High School Class of 1976 proudly celebrates their 40th reunion this year. This class has gathered every five years since their graduation to reconnect with old friends and discover new friends from the past. The four years spent on the hill with classmates included lots of laughter, a few sad times, plenty of winning teams, hours of studying and multiple trips down the double dip at lunch with a car full of friends. The Panthers’ football team, nicknamed the Pygmies by Coach Bob Padgett, carried on the winning tradition with a 9-1 season, defeating Mater Dei and winning the prestigious Nut Club Trophy. The 1976 Panthers also fielded the very first girls’ basketball team. Their inaugural season ended with a respectable 5-5 record, and they rounded out the year with a Sectional title. Several members of the Class of ’76 are also members of the West Side Nut Club including Rick Decker, 2016 Fall Festival Nut Club Chair. In 1976, we danced to Boogie Fever, cheered IU on to the NCAA National Championship, paid $.59 for a gallon of gas, drove the loop along St. Joe, Delaware, 12th Avenue and Illinois Street, watched Happy Days and M*A*S*H on TV, and were amazed by Nadia Comaneci’s seven perfect scores of ‘10’ in the Montreal Olympics. Graduating the year of our nation’s Bicentennial, the Class of ’76 was red, white and blue throughout the year. The 418 members of this class include scholars, talented artists and musicians, exceptional athletes and leaders. Many are still West siders, some have moved on to places across the nation and around the world, but all remain connected to Evansville, the West side and the proud tradition that is Reitz High School. We’ve got spirit! We’ve got kicks! We’re the Class of ’76!
