Explore tips to increase engagement and provide a solid course foundation for your students. This workshop will review some of the most effective techniques to keep students engaged while learning the course material. Topics include setting classroom standards, teaching to different learning styles, promoting effective teamwork, and more. Come with your own tips to share with your colleagues!

Learn the definition of Social Emotional Competence, challenges to and techniques promoting it in kids and families. How can we set up our programs to help kids be successful and families to be supported when they struggle? How can we understand that kids come to our program with trauma and other life experiences that impact everyone involved? This Protective Factor is key to helping kids with these very important skills!

• Create an environment where children feel safe to express their emotions.

• Learn the value of being emotionally responsive to children and role modeling empathy.

• Encourage staff to embrace children's relationships by encouraging and reinforcing social skills.

This workshop will focus on forging positive relationships, strengthening connections, creating safe spaces; and offering youth opportunities to succeed in meaningful ways; by cultivating partnerships and engagement with our communities in ways that are both constructive and productive.

Participants gain strategies to deepen their connection and grow collaboration in physical spaces with youth and community.

SLEEP TIGHT - YOUTH SLEEPING HABITS FOR BETTER HEALTH

In this workshop you will learn about the health benefits of sleep and techniques to help youth get better rest. We will discuss the recommended hours of sleep, how to create bedtime routines, creating a healthy sleep environment and ways to promote relaxation. And, take some tips for yourself!

You will learn the benefits of sleep and how to help youth get adequate rest to help them improve their quality of life.
