OCTOBER ISSUE
I’m still on a high from last month’s trip to Joburg. We were able to invest energy in the Joburg stores and celebrate our unique heritage with the launch of the ‘Storytelling’ campaign. Our Kramerville store hosted the names and faces event and in-house fashion show; a chance for our Gauteng teams to meet and socialise, get their photos taken and feel inspired by our new in-store fashion look and feel. It was so energising to see our teams connecting. I loved the vibe and was so inspired by the sense of togetherness – it felt like a celebration of everyone and everything that goes into our brand. I was so proud of what we’ve created together.
The film premiere was hosted at the Fourways store (you’ll find the link to the video in this issue of The Home Front and on our social media channels). It marked the start of the campaign and played host to many influential people. It was an opportunity to meet and mingle with the Joburg market, form relationships and acknowledge our own distinctive legacy. All 120 guests were able to experience the true essence of the brand. It was clear to me that Weylandts is loved and admired by many.
Let’s keep this energy alive as we gear up for a great summer season.

EARN BONUS POINTS IN OCTOBER
The October bonus point will look at any active quotes as at 30/09/2022 end of day, and quotes created between the period 01/10/2022 – 31/10/2022.
• The value invoiced as at 31/10/2022 from these quotes will be determined.
• This invoiced value will then be divided by the consultant product target.
• The consultant with the highest % wins the bonus point.
Example:
Consultant A has a product target of R980,000.00 for October 2022.
Consultant A has R480,000.00 worth of open Quotes at 30/09/2022. Consultant A generates R900,000.00 of Quotes throughout the October month (01/10/2022 – 31/10/2022)
Of the R480,000.00 opening quotes the consultant invoices R270,000.00
Of the R900,000.00 quotes generated in October the consultant invoices R320,000.00
The consultant achievement is: (R270,000.00 + R320,000.00) / R980,000.00 = 60.2%
Award
The consultant with the highest %, during the month of October, receives 10 bonus points.

VISUAL MERCHANDISING
VISUAL MERCHANDISING
BEFORE AFTER
TO HAVE A VISION AND CHASE THE IMPOSSIBLE
WORDS BY SONJA DU PLESSISAt the beginning of this year we introduced vertical thatching to our winter ’22 range. The summer prior we decided to elevate this even more and traverse a road not yet taken. Wait for it… We decided to burn a pattern on the vertical thatching. Despite hesitation from most – fire and thatch an unlikely pairing – I discovered an incredible artist by the name of Petra Maierhofer, who was prepared to take on this groundbreaking task. After much research, she faced unprecedented territory.
Petra and her husband did numerous samples and tried various avenues to achieve the mind-blowing results. It was a pleasure to work with someone who understood my vision and was willing to take on the risk and create innovative art. Please visit the Green Point branch to enjoy the final product, also executed in the Fourways and Brooklyn stores.

WE SHARE OUR STORIES MARKETING
MARKETING
Our film, ‘Storytelling with Chris Weylandt’, is out!
The film, directed by Lebogang Rasethaba, launches our ‘Storytelling’ campaign. We celebrated this milestone with a high-calibre premiere in Joburg.
OUR STORYTELLING FILM PREMIERE
WITH CHRIS WEYLANDTThe dinner event, hosted at our Fourways store on Thursday 15 September, was attended by Joburg celebs and hotshots in the creative industry, as well as top interior designers and some of our most special customers. Siyanda Bani, Thuli Mola, Amanda du-Pont, Trevor Stuurman, Donald Nxumalo, Mandla and Naledi Sibeko, Cassandra Twala, Pieter Bruwer, Laduma Ngxokolo, Karabo Poppy and Boity Thulo were just some of the 120 guests in attendance.
It was an immersive experience, curated by Kraak, with installations created to mimic the naturescapes of Namibia that feature in the film. Chef Wandile Mabaso designed a menu to complement these elements, and DJ Gina Jeanz crafted a playlist especially for the night. TV personality Maps Maponyane was the MC and dazzled our guests with his engaging tales. All of these personalities shared their own stories throughout the night, in an event that was focused on storytelling.
The three levels of the Fourways store were transformed to depict aspects of the ocean, desert, boulders and fire – all seen in the film. Salt, sand, ash and stones highlights the different scenes. There was a handwashing experience upon arrival, accompanied by welcome drinks inspired by the salty sea. After the film premiere, guests were led up a level to enjoy canapés served on round stones, surrounded by steaming dry ice. They then got to have their portraits taken by photographer Anke Loots, alongside the iconic chair that appears in the film. Anke’s evocative naturescape photographs, captured in Namibia while this film was being shot, were printed in large format to welcome guests into a gallery-like setting before they took their seats at the long, winding dinner table on the third floor.
The event was an important one for us. It brought a new audience to our store, introducing potential clients to our brand in a very authentic way, while giving current high-calibre clients an experience that recognises their patronage. Johannesburg is full of opportunity and we will be doing more and more work to market to a top-tier sector in this part of the country.
WHY STORYTELLING
This film marks the start of a new Weylandts campaign focused on storytelling.
Just as Chris shares part of his story in the film, we are encouraging others to share their own stories, talking about their environments and how the things they’ve grown up with, live with and choose to surround themselves with influence the things they do, create and dream.
Everyone has a story to tell. You don’t need to be a film director or famous chef for your story to be interesting. We are all storytellers in our own unique ways. Weylandts believes that by sharing our stories with one another we can inspire better ways of living. Our tagline for the campaign is ‘Design your own story’. It encourages people to keep dreaming and make their lives beautiful. Weylandts is, after all, more than just furniture.

A FASHION SHOW FOR GAUTENG
We are all the Weylandts brand. The way we dress in our stores should be reflective of the brand we work for. Clients should immediately know they’ve stepped into Weylandts when they see us.
That is why, on Saturday 17 August, we held a fashion show at our Kramerville store for all Gauteng retail staff to get some guidelines on wardrobe options. Just like the previous internal event in Cape Town, it was a fun way to offer dress-code suggestions that encourage cohesion in our look and feel. Our very own models paraded these styles in what proved to be a jolly after-hours event, with Maison wine flowing all afternoon as we spilled out into the parking lot for what turned out to be a proper social event.
