Saturday, December 1, 2018 Providence Farm’s Annual Christmas Craft Fair is on December 1, from 9am to 3pm. They take great joy in creating this community event full of Holiday fun for everyone! Over thirty new and returning vendors, on both floors of the main building offer unique gifts from wreaths to glass ornaments to teas, body care and candles. Enjoy live music playing in the dining hall while feasting on a home-cooked lunch and dessert. St. Ann’s Building will be filled with gifts made by Providence Farm’s talented participants, staff, and volunteers. The kids can enjoy the craft area and a photo with Santa while you peruse the hand-made gifts, including stunning wooden bowls, wool and quilted blankets, fresh wreaths and swags, preserves and delicious holiday baking. The General Store will be open, and offering hot apple cider made from Providence Farm apples. The store is filled with farm produce, coffee and tea, fresh and frozen baked goods, and ice cream. Farm Fashions will also be open for the day, and as always, filled with some fine fashion treasures!

There were few bands in the ’70s that conjured up as lively a presence as Steely Dan in that decade of abundance and over the top stage shows, and their production quality was the absolute top of the heap. It’s not likely we’ll ever see a Steely Dan show roll through Victoria, but the Pretzel Logic hailing from Victoria is the next best thing. The pretzel Logic Orchestra is a homage to Steely Dan and a labour of love for its nine members who are some of Victoria’s finest jazz and funky rock players. These guys have the chops it takes to interpret the complex and quirky material of the iconic 70’s songwriting partnership of Donald Fagen and Walter Becker. Fusing jazz sensibility with the rhythms of Rock, Pop and R&R, Steely Dan created a sophisticated sound that remains unique in music history and produced some of the most memorable and timeless songs of the decade _ “Do it Again” “Peg”, “Deacon Blues”, “Rikki Don’t Lose that Number”, “Dirty Work”. Their Pretzel Logic Orchestra’s big, cool, guitar and horn-driven sound evokes the hip, urban culture that underlies these unforgettable songs. They formed in Victoria in 2002, and have played to sold houses during their residency at Hermann's Jazz Club.

are just some of the titles Tom Wilson aka LEE HARVEY OSMOND holds—he is a true Canadian treasure in the same vein as Good Downie, Stuart McLean, and Peter Mansbridge—and he will be right here in the Cowichan Valley for the only Vancouver Island performance of this show, after which he will be moving on to working on the next Blackie and the Rodeo Kings tour. He will be performing songs as a stripped-down duo, reading from his best-selling book “Beautiful Scars”, and sharing his compelling story. “Over the course of discovering my true identity, the intention of my writing, my music and my art is to reduce the gap between my indigenous culture and colonialists to make a more patient, loving community.” – Tom Wilson In mid-life, in his 50s, Wilson learned that the parents who raised him were not his birth parents; that, in fact, he was adopted and that his biological mother and father were Mohawk from the Kahnawake reserve, just outside of Montreal. Grappling with this newfound sense of himself plunged Wilson into a quest for his heritage and his truth, and led to the writing of his bestselling autobiography, Beautiful Scars (Doubleday Canada). The book is a colourful and truthful tale of this quest, and his life’s tribulations and successes along the path.
