Fresh Start Campbell River’s favorite tea house, Stonehouse Teas opened its doors again in time for Christmas after 6 months of closure due to the fire that started at White Hat Cleaners last June. Tanya is glad to be back, but the truth is Campbell Riverites have spent the last 6 month’s biting their fingernails waiting to breach the doors, pull up a chair and wrap their hands around one of Tanya’s famous teas, or speciality coffees. Oh yes, I’ll confess that I was one of those people that changed my route to work, so I could travel up 11th Ave, to see just how much longer my wait would be, and finally that day arrived. Everything was there, perfect coffee, a tea selection that spans across two walls, beautiful sprays of gift baskets, quirky and gorgeous tea pots and accessories. Everything is new, new comfy chairs and tables, new packaging, and my favourite, new beautiful lighting, that some how made my coffee taste even better than I remembered, but then again, I was very glad Stonehouse Teas was finally re-opened.

Come down and say Hi to Tanya and the girls, she missed you too.

Why Do We Self-Sabotage? Self-Sabotage, the hidden aspect of our psyche that keeps us in a certain learned behavioral pattern even though it makes us unhappy, unwell, and sometimes down-right miserable, can present itself in many different ways; continuous negative self-talk, pessimism, over-eating, drinking too much, chronic procrastination, control issues.....and the list could go on....... We didn’t consciously choose those hidden aspects of your psyche - no, they attached themselves at a time, most often at an early age, when we felt defenseless or even powerless. They, then, may have served as ways of coping with experiences and events that were too difficult or painful to manage.

We often continue the pattern because 1) we may be unaware of it and 2) because it is ‘familiar’, it is what we have learned to do - and we need to break away from what we know which, in turn, means we need to actively engage in the process of unlearning coping strategies that do not benefit and serve us well. The first step to breaking the cycle of self-sabotage is to allow ourselves to become aware of what it is that we are doing. The second step is then to let go of the “why” - the great hostage keeper to the pastand focus on “how” as means to move forward. To do this work consistently means to break the cycle of self-sabotage. “What you resist persists. And what you look at, disappears.” ~~Neale Donald Walsch To your Success!
