Cape Otway Lightstation This iconic Cape Otway Lighthouse stands 90 meters tall and has been the Beacon of Hope for ships since 1848. Hundreds of lives were lost in shipwrecks off Cape Otway, a sad but fascinating history which led to the building of the Lightstation in the foothills of the impenetrable forests of the Otways. Cape Otway Lighthouse is the highlight of the Great Ocean Road where with a short detour through magnificent forests, much koala life can be seen. The “Kidzone” activity program is fun and exciting for all primary school aged children. The gourmet café features an historic photo gallery and video room. Australia’s first submarine cable link was laid between Cape Otway and Launceston in 1859. The Telegraph Station has been meticulously restored and a radar bunker, built in 1942 after a United States ship was sunk by a German mine off Cape Otway, has been newly renovated. The Lightstation precinct is the traditional home of the Gadabanud people. Discover more about this isolated, but resourceful Aboriginal clan.

The Ships That Shaped Australia exhibition Don’t miss this exhibition of 27 paintings of vessels that sailed into our history books. Each of the large scale works were painted by the late Jack L Koskie and capture the high drama of early shipping in Australia including the Loch Ard which was wrecked in 1878 trying to sight the Cape Otway light, the HMS Investigator which surveyed Australian waters under the command of Matthew Flinders, SS Casino which was wrecked at Apollo Bay in 1932 and HMAS Sydney, famous for her battle with the German vessel Emden in 1914, just to name a few.

Lightstation manager Trish Goodlet said “Cape Otway had real links with some of the vessels portrayed and this exhibition which gives locals and tourists further insight into our amazing maritime history, which the Lightstation is very keen to promote and preserve”.

Fort Queenscliff Museum Fort Queenscliff dates from 1860 when an open battery was constructed on Shortland’s Bluff to defend the entrance to Port Phillip Bay. Geelong Maritime Museum The picturesque location by Corio Bay makes the Geelong Maritime Museum an ideal place to visit with family and friends. Narana Unplugged III Saturday 3 June - 12pm to 5pm Narana Aboriginal Cultural Centre invites music lovers to come together and Rock for Reconciliation at this years' Narana Unplugged III event featuring Benny Walker, Alice Skye, Nathan Seeckts, Rach Brennan, Lyndon Morgan plus special guests The Deadly Dancers.

In 2017, during National Reconciliation Week (NRW) running 27 May – 3 June, we reflect on two significant anniversaries in Australia’s reconciliation journey – 50 years since the 1967 referendum, and 25 years since the historic Mabo decision. National Celtic Festival 9-12 June The normally quiet bayside town of Portarlington in Victoria comes alive from 9-12 June for the National Celtic Festival with three days of Celtic infused music, dance, theatre, comedy, literature, workshops, food, markets and more.

Showcasing some of the world’s most culturally rich performers, international headliners including Welsh five-piece Calan, Irish/US combo Kevin Crawford, Patrick Doocey and Colin Farrell, and Scottish singer-songwriter Paul McKenna. Representing the Australian Celtic circuit include folk storytelling icon Eric Bogle and much loved allAustralian ensemble: The Bushwackers.

Family friendly programming includes walking tour ‘The Trail of Tales’ and community arts projects such as Lantunda, who bring together a mix of shadow puppetry, stories and music focused on themes of place, belonging and Gaelic traditions in Australia. Competitions held on the weekend include the National Celtic Festival Piping Competition and the Portarlington Limerick Competition.

The Celtic market features stalls selling an array of goods and crafts and a variety of delicious food and beverages including the infamous Guinness. The festival hosts clans from across the country. Events are staged within the festival arena and at venues though out the township, as well as on The Enterprize, a historic replica Tall Ship that sets sail daily from Portarlington Jetty and features festival musicians to entertain travellers on their journey between Melbourne and Portarlingon.

The Gordon Short Courses Learn some new skills with a short course.

Do you feel like trying something new? Short courses at The Gordon are a fantastic way to build on your existing skills or develop a skill you didn’t know you had.

With the advantage of experienced, industry-trained teachers, a handson approach to learning and access to excellent training facilities, The Gordon really is a great place to learn. Small classes and student support services mean each student has access to the attention and assistance they need.

However, learning doesn’t always have to be done in a classroom which is why there are now more than 100 new courses available to complete online.

These six week courses kick off on 14 June and cover a wide range of topics, from interior design to refreshing your grammar, starting your own business to cooking luscious, low fat, lightening quick meals.

Whatever the topic is, The Gordon’s online courses have got you covered.

In addition to the online courses, The Gordon runs dozens of Nationally Recognised Training short courses at the East Geelong Campus.

Coming up is Crane Operation 20 Tonne Slewing (5 June), Working at Heights (13 June), Spotters Course (29 June) and Traffic Control (8 June) to name a few.

From young blood to veteran artists, bagpipes to bodhrans, there is something for everyone at the National Celtic Festival.

National Wool Museum Experience the wonders of nature as the world’s most prestigious wildlife photography collection arrives in Australia.

The world-renowned exhibition, direct from London’s Natural History Museum is currently on display at the National Wool Museum in Geelong featuring 100 awe-inspiring images, from fascinating animal behaviour to breath-taking wild landscapes.

Now in its 52nd year, the competition received almost 50,000 entries from 96 countries highlighting its enduring appeal as a showcase of the natural world.

“I am thrilled that Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2016 is launching its Australian tour in Geelong,” said Laurinda Gardner, Administrator at the City of Greater Geelong.

“The National Wool Museum is the only venue in Victoria hosting this not-to-be-missed exhibition, on display for a limited time only.”

The 100 winning images in the exhibition were judged by an international panel of industryrecognised professionals, with the images (submitted by both professional and amateur

photographers) selected for their creativity, artistry and technical complexity.

Complementing the Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2016 exhibition, National Wool Museum’s Geelong by Nature competition also puts nature in the frame with an exciting new exhibition featuring Geelong based photographers. With two categories “Open” and “Young Photographer”, experience a showcase of original photographs documenting Geelong’s wildlife and natural landscapes.

The Wool Exchange Entertainment Geelong’s Original Live Music and Bands Venue The Wool Exchange Entertainment Complex prides itself on being the leading live band venue in Geelong. The imposing building that houses The Wool Exchange Entertainment Complex was built in 1927-28 and was a centre piece of the wool industry, which thrived throughout western Victoria in this era.

What is now the upstairs split level function room, was once the venue where wool traders bought and sold their wares during public auctions.

The auditorium had steep, ramped seating, that is now long gone, although the original barrel vaulted ceiling decorated with neo-Greco detail remains and adds to the grandeur and acoustics of the room.

GSODA 24 June – 1 July GSODA presents The Little Mermaid GSODA are pleased to be presenting the production of Disney's "The Little Mermaid" which opens on 24 June at GPAC, running up until 1 July.

Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen's most beloved stories and the classic animated film, Disney's The Little Mermaid is a beautiful love story for all ages. Come along and enjoy this production presented by an exceptionally talented cast of 11-17year olds.

Music is by Alan Menken, Lyrics are by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater and the book by Doug Wright, was originally produced by Disney Theatrical Productions.

Luminous relic, until 9 July Luminous relic will present a major new collaborative painting and moving image work by artists Mandy Martin and Alexander Boynes, together with a score by Tristen Parr and performance by Laura Boynes.

Luminous relic will be based on fieldwork: drawing, filming, photography and performance in Geelong and specifically the Geelong Refinery.

Martin’s and Boynes’ work will continue their collaborative examination of the ongoing and cumulative effects of industry on landscapes, fragile ecosystems, human conditions, and remind us of the social and political agency of the artist. Luminous relic is Geelong Gallery’s contribution to ART+CLIMATE=CHANGE 2017, organised by CLIMARTE.

Still life painting— Adam Pyett 20 May to 16 July 2017 This survey exhibition of works spanning over ten years charts Adam Pyett’s long-standing interest in the still life genre. Mining traditional subjects from leaves and flowers, transparent vessels, and skulls through to those that reflect popular culture such as drink cans and rock t-shirts, still life is the genre through which Pyett explores his primary interest, the subject of painting itself.

Let’s talk recognition—a children’s art exhibition, 20 May to 9 July An exhibition of student works created in classroom workshops in response to Reconciliation. Metropolis Gallery 4 – 20 May - [6X6!] Exhibition Six artists are each exhibiting six new paintings, featuring John Graham, Victoria Howlett, Judi Singleton, Wendy Stokes, Amica Whincop and Gail Willoughby.

John Graham’s paintings depict the Gouldian finch, which was once common across Northern Australia. This small bird is now restricted to small populations and may soon become extinct in the wild.

Victoria Howlett is a colorist and her latest paintings meander between abstraction and representation as shapes are reduced to blocks of colour, richly layered and scraped back to create complex yet intimate surfaces.

Judi Singleton’s expressive naive style combines a riot of childlike human figures, birds, trees and buildings and her paintings for this exhibition include abstractions based on the local coast and Corio Bay.

Wendy Stokes’ works connect with experiences in her immediate coastal vicinity: the ocean and its edge and clearly reflect nature’s intensity.

Amica Whincop’s undulating stone-like forms float, loosely connected, in an apparent void of negative space and are predominantly influenced by the intricacies of nature.

Gail Willoughby’s bold, colourful paintings of cacti reflect a love of potted plants and the domestic garden.

The Park The ultimate world class indoor skatepark The Park is locally owned and operated and is home to the largest indoor skatepark in Australia and boasts the largest indoor Vert Ramp outside of the USA. The Park has been designed to be Australia’s mecca of skateboarding and action sports including BMX, scooters and inline and has attracted both national and international attention.

Among the many highlights of this unique park are the 3ft high kids ramp, a 40ft wide mini ramp with pool coping, a 90ft Vert ramp with kickers and offsets, a concrete street course plus the only indoor mini mega ramp in the country.

At only $13 for a three hour session, this is great value ($15 first visit only includes membership registration card). All participants must be aged six and over. There is also a fully stocked skate shop which provides parts, repairs, friendly advice plus the ability to hire or buy skateboards, scooters, helmets and safety gear. Gift vouchers are also available. The onsite café provides a great range of hot and cold food and drinks.

Fairy Park

The Bellarine Railway Heritage Train Service The regular Heritage Train Service takes passengers on a scenic journey from Queenscliff to Drysdale or Lakers Siding, traveling alongside Swan Bay and through bush and farm land.

Trains run on Sundays during the year, as well as Tuesday and Thursday in the Easter, July and September school holidays. During the Summer Holidays, extra train running days will be scheduled, please see website or call to enquire. This excludes Day Out With Thomas, Queenscliff Music Festival and Santa Train weekends.

Lighthouse Olive Oil Shop Come along and taste farm produced and processed extra virgin olive oil, straight from the trees to your taste buds. With the classic cool climate providing a distinct Victorian coastal character, the oils are versatile in taste and vary in their degrees of fruitiness. The main varieties on offer are Picual, Arbequinia, Manzanillo, Frantoio, Leccino, Coratina and Koroneiki. There are also three varieties of citrus oils that are delicious as an addition to any salad.

The growing methods utilized are based on being environmentally sustainable and support the wildlife habitats of Australian plants and animals. All oils are extracted within hours of harvesting, ensuring purity and freshness. All waste products from the production of the oils are recycled on the property. The trees are harvested in the winter months by a mechanical shaker with smaller trees handpicked. Olives are then processed immediately to retain their freshness. Once the oil is extracted it is stored in stainless steel tanks to let the oil settle naturally. The oil is then stored in a temperature controlled environment until bottling.

As well as offering oil tastings, the shop also stocks olive oil body care products and soaps, gourmet pantry items, Oakdene wines, potted olive trees and great gift ideas. Visitors are also welcome to wander through the Kalamata olive grove adjacent to the shop.

50 acres of vines are being planted for Oakdene Wines, so come down and enjoy the ever changing landscape.

The shop is easy to locate, only a short drive from Drysdale, Portarlington, Queenscliff and Ocean Grove. Rosie will be there every Thursday â&#x20AC;&#x201C; Sunday from 11am-4pm for tastings and sales and looks forward to your visit.
