Awarding Excellence…. Llanymynech Golf Club One of golf’s best kept secrets, Shropshire is the ideal place to base one’s golfing party. With a range of fantastic value packages on offer in this idyllic and peaceful part of the country, Shropshire golf breaks are well worth considering. Sitting just south of Oswestry in Shropshire, the awardwinning Llanymynech Golf Club presents visitors with the unique opportunity to tee off in Wales and putt out in England! The Par 70 golf course which measure 6,036 yards from the championship tees offers an abundance of greenery and some of the most beautiful scenery in the UK, the course at Llanymynech features excellent irrigation systems and fantastic drainage, meaning that the golf course is playable all-year-round. In fact, members comment that the golf course plays as well in the winter as it does in the summer months. Former Ryder Cup captain, Ian Woosnam first learnt to play golf here when he was nine years of age and Llanymynech remains one of his favourite courses to this day. With fifteen holes located in Wales and three holes in England, Llanymynech offers the opportunity to drive off on the fourth hole in Wales, play across Offa’s Dyke and actually putt out on the same hole, in England –the only dual nationality golf course in Europe! The course’s signature hole, the twelfth, is the highest point of the golf course and boasts stunning views over the Shropshire countryside and the Welsh Border with a viewfinder to point out places of interest on the horizon.

The excellent Llanymynech clubhouse is built around an old cottage that once stood alone on the hill. After investment and refurbishment, this is now the home of the comfortable clubhouse which represents the perfect place to relax pre or post round. The clubhouse is also the home of the superb, Llanymynech Pro Shop which offers a full array of golf equipment and clothing. Head professional Andy Griffiths has been at the club for over forty years and has been responsible for the continued development of many of the Club’s members, including Ian Woosnam himself in the early days. Full catering facilities are provided at the Dine on the Hill Bar & Grill with daily menus available. Llanymynech’s catering team can provide anything from a light snack to more formal dining requirements.

Great value for money… With green fees starting from as little as £15 there is no reason to miss this gem of a golf course whilst taking in the Welsh Hills and Shropshire countryside. Llanymynech Golf Club welcomes society groups of eight or more players throughout the week through a variety of packages which can be tailored to meet the needs and budgets of the visiting party.
