www.cardenpark.co.uk Situated in the heart of some of the most beautiful Cheshire countryside is the glorious Carden Park Country Estate. In and amongst the stunning surroundings of Carden Park, you will find two of Chester’s best and most renowned golf courses;the Nicklaus Course and the technically challenging Cheshire Course . These two masterpieces of golf course architecture can provide (in our opinion) the most enjoyable 2 rounds of golf you could find in Cheshire. The Cheshire Course itself will instantly strike you as a classic parkland course offering some of the best and most picturesque views of the Welsh Mountains. On this course your skills will surely be tested, as it is highly technical and requires good course management. The correct club selection is also an absolute must, in order to make a good score. Staggered across the 7,045 yard course are an abundance of natural hazards that will keep even the lowest of handicappers alert. Moving on to the Nicklaus course, which runs alongside the famous Carden Park vineyard, it is again picturesque with an array of local wildlife and rolling countryside. Designed by Jack Nicklaus, arguably the greatest golfer that has ever lived, this course is well known across the UK and beyond as a true test of golfing skill and ability. In fact, the record 18 career major championship winner himself once described it as “a real thinking man’s course”. For any eager golfer, this course is an absolute must.
Visitors are made to feel especially welcome at Carden Park and can enjoy some of the best golfing facilities in the area. Further to these two magnificent courses, there is also a 12 bay golfing range as well as a further 3 practice greens for you to hone your skills on, along with locker facilities and a well-stocked and friendly pro shop. Upon finishing your round, you can relax and unwind with stories of championship winning putts on the beautifully manicured greens in Jacks Bar. This clubhouse is the ideal location for the tired feet of any weary golfer, where a wide selection of food and beverages are available overlooking the spectacular views that this club has to offer. Astonishingly, you can enjoy all this for just £25.00 per person !! This includes 18 holes of golf with bacon rolls and coffee and for group or society bookings,1 golfer in 8 will play for free!! New Generation of Golfers Tee off at Carden Park Golf is much more than a new hobby, Garry explains, “It is a great game for those looking to develop a natural hand, eye and ball coordination. It also helps improve focus and commitment as it isn’t always easy to hit a ball where you want it to go without practice. It can also help young players hone useful life skills such as patience, dedication and determination. Confidence in life as well as in sport is absolutely key and I’m a great believer in that golf can be as much about the power of the mind as physical fitness.”
Following the success of the recent Open at Birkdale, Carden Park home to two of Cheshire’s most prestigious championship golf courses is seeing a surge of interest from seasoned golfers looking for a first-rate day of golf as well as keen young amateurs keen to learn, enjoy and develop their game. The team at Carden Park has taken more enquiries this year from people wanting to play the Nicklaus course designed by golfing legend, Jack Nicklaus and his son Steve. Known as “the thinking man’s golf course” the course has remained true to its original design and concept and a highlight of the 2017 summer season has been watching the course mature to its full potential. General Manager of Carden Park Paul Bayliss says, “The rise in enquiries we feel is due to the changing status of golf in that it is fast becoming popular amongst younger and to an ever-growing degree female players . A recent study found there were 95,000 adult female golfers and over 40,000 juniors in England, which is amongst the highest numbers in Europe.” Golf Professional Garry Houston who has been associated with Carden Park for 20 years and who will join the PGA cup team to take on their American counterparts this September, says “we are well on our way to becoming a Golfing Centre of Excellence in the North and we have the resources and people, time and dedication to deliver a fantastic experience. We’re also seeing lots of parents bringing their children along. Golf at Carden is great and we want to get the message out there that it is a place to come to if you want to learn and improve whilst enjoying the best game there is.”
The Junior Performance Academy will also be continuing throughout the winter months with the PGA Professionals Steve Priest, Mike Platt and Ian Rowlands hosting weekly golf lessons with local schools and also introductory lessons on weekends to help grow the game. The Golf Business Manager at Carden Park Jason Davies says, “We have fantastic facilities and coaches onsite here at Carden Park to help with all levels of golfers, we want to help introduce as many youngsters to the game as it’s one of our main goals and I’m sure the Junior Performance Academy will help us achieve this.” Carden Park is a shining beacon within the industry with well-prepared holes and a team totally dedicated to ensuring the golf experience is excellent from arrival to a drink in the Clubhouse or Dinner in the evening. As a 2-course golf resort, interest in playing comes from all quarters particularly groups from other golf clubs in Europe taking the time to visit the North West to be looked after in a hotel that appreciates the needs of golfers with its newly refurbished 196 bedrooms and suites. At the same time Carden is building a strong local fan base of keen young golfers wanting to play in the late day sunshine or just simply wanting to practice on the dedicated driving range and chipping green.

And Finally, as they say in Wales “Mwynhewch y diwrnod” (Enjoy the day)
Welcome to Moor Allerton, one of West Yorkshire`s premier golf experiences. This excellent golf club is renowned for having an extremely friendly and relaxed approach which gives it a diversity that few clubs in this region can offer. The course itself was designed by the famous architect Robert Trent Jones (senior) in 1970 and is the only course designed by him in the UK, giving it a unique feel from other courses in the region. On offer here is, in our opinion, one of the finest days entertainment you can have at a club in the West of Yorkshire. The amazing 27 holes of this parkland course offer a diverse range of holes which will challenge the most accomplished of society golfers. The advantage of having 27 holes to play during your day gives you the opportunity to play before and after lunch on the 220 acres of breathtaking Yorkshire countryside consisting of three loops of nine. So, if your first round of nine was not up to par (excuse the pun) then there is the opportunity to make up lost ground on the next two. With each nine offering a different challenge to the next, this really is a must for golfers of all standards and abilities. Naturally the club itself take a huge amount of pride in this distinctive course. By offering players contoured greens, boldly shaped bunkers, large teeing areas and water hazards (which are a fine example of the opulence of this magnificent course) it is not difficult to understand why players come back year after year to Moor Allerton Previously Ryder Cup player Howard Clark has joined Moor Allerton as a playing professional, which again is testament to the strides this club has taken to be one of the premier venues in West Yorkshire When playing this course, you will be following in the footsteps of some of the real greats of the game such as Greg Norman, Nick Faldo, Brian Barnes and Seve Ballesteros. We could go on as list seems endless!!! Moor Allerton now offer some of the most attractive group packages and society days within this region with one in twelve players going for free!! Golf in the Heart of England Located in the heart of England and accessible from the whole country, Staffordshire is a fascinating county of outstanding natural beauty. The main attraction of the landlocked county is the award-winning Alton Towers theme park but there are also plenty of accommodation deals and reasonably priced green fees to take advantage of in the local area. Ideal places to base one’s golfing party would be Stafford or Stoke-onTrent, the two biggest towns in the county. From here, the county’s luxurious fairways can be easily reached and the Staffordshire golfing challenge well and truly accepted. Staffordshire encompasses parts of the National Forest and Peak District National Park whilst combining the wild moorlands and uplands in the north with the low undulating landscape in the south around Cannock Chase, an area of natural outstanding beauty. Just outside the village of Barlaston in Staffordshire, you will find the relatively new Barlaston golf course. The beautifully-appointed parkland golf course was designed by Peter Allis in 1987 and welcomes societies and visiting golfing groups throughout the week and weekends with a range of packages available combining a challenging but fair round of golf and fantastic dining options. With something for everyone, West Yorkshire Great is the ideal retreat for a golfing break with a wide variety of venues offering fantastic value for money. Bradford, set in the foothills of the Pennines and at the junction of three valleys, is home to the fabulous Bradford Golf Club – A Herbert Fowler masterpiece since 1923.
Arguably the most popular seaside resort on the south coast is Brighton with its global popularity sky-high with tourists. Brighton is considered one of the UK’s key gateways to Europe with London Gatwick Airport only half-an-hour away and has also been voted the ‘happiest place to live in the UK’.
Originally known as The Bradford St. Andrews Golf Club, The Bradford Golf Club is one of the oldest and most prestigious golf clubs in Yorkshire. The open moorland course has existed at its present site since 1899. However, in the 1923 the course was substantially altered by golf course architect, W. Herbert Fowler and his team. Today, the golf course is one of only two Fowler-designated courses in Yorkshire. The club has embarked on a thoughtful re-discovery of its Fowler heritage, with the trees now forming more natural groups, with the iconic 16th and 17th completed. Three further holes will be ready for the new 2018 season, well worth a visit
With all of this in mind, why not consider Sussex as a golfing holiday destination? Soak up the summer sun, enjoy its great golf courses and explore what the wonderful region has to offer!

Golf near the Capital
Despite its prominent location near to the business hub of the capital of England, Middlesex is home to quite a few golf courses. In a recent trend, the growing love of urban golf has seen golf in leafy, green, countryside settings, traded in for the grey, stone, inner-city street courses that central London has to offer. So much so, that the Urban Golf Championships are now an annual event. However, it is still on the outskirts of London, where golf in Middlesex really comes into its own. Although it’s one of the smallest English counties in size, it is also one of the most densely populated. It is well worth taking the time to visit the region’s selection of golf courses, many of which were designed by some of the world’s most famous and renowned golf course designers, such as James Braid, Harry Colt and Donald Steel. Enfield Golf Club is one such Club. Founded in 1893, Enfield is a traditional, but forward-thinking golf club with a modern approach to all golfers needs. The mature, picturesque 18-hole parkland golf course was designed by the famous golf course architect, James Braid. It is set in beautiful, tranquil surroundings and offers excellent golf for both experienced players, as well as those new to the game. In fact, golfers of all abilities. Whilst enjoying the course and all the facilities that the Club has to offer, you would have little idea that you were only a stone’s throw away from the hustle and bustle of North London, or the ever busy M25 motorway.
