‘Chinese virus’ is racism Before the video: In the summer of 2020, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr. Guterres, mentioned in his speech that the epidemic has increased global inequality at different scales and endangered social and economic development. Racial discrimination is just one kind of inequality. Reni Eddo-Lodge’s description of the white systematic discrimination to the black in her book resonated with me. Because as an Asian female, many of my companions are silently suffering from racism(or anti-chinese sentiment) but do not have a sufficient language level to speak for and protect themselves like black people. US President Trump once publicly stated on Twitter that Corona Varius is ‘chinese virus’. He himself claimed that this is not racism AT ALL. Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XX2GM7uN0WQ

The Voices from Shenzhen Migrants in Baishizhou(白石洲) Urban Village Before the video: Baishizhou, as the largest existing urban village in the central district of Shenzhen, its gentrification plan officially began in June 2019*. Its demolition displaces the inhabited migrants. These migrants come from different parts of China, their arrival time varies, and their occupations vary. As powerless charactors, their lives have been greatly affected by China’s rapid capital urbanisation. This video collected a lot of information about a selected urban village - Baishizhou urban village, through multimedia, and tried to demonstrate to the audience in the way of forensic architecture.
