BIRD WATCHING

Lake Toxaway is abundant with many kinds of bird life. The Cherokee Indian word “toxaway” translates into ‘red bird.’ The ‘toxaway’ or cardinal, is also North Carolina’s state bird. Mornings are extra special when we see the cardinals, chickadees, nuthatches, finches, and the humming birds we call back in the spring with our special humming bird food. Self-guided trips for birdwatching are available at Chimney Rock Park.
