Welcome After the disruption we all experienced in our normal routines during the summer, we are pleased to see the arrival of many of our Members for the season. With new safety protocols and guidelines in place throughout the Club, we are looking forward to a fulfilling and enjoyable season. Windsor was founded as a family-friendly sporting club and the focus on offering world-class sporting amenities has not wavered. In this issue we share preliminary plans for our expanded Fitness & Wellness Centre. With construction commencing in May 2021, the expansion will add about 10,000 square feet to the current space. The new facility will include studios for a dynamic range of fitness and wellness classes as well as spa treatments. See pages 6-7 for more details. Along with the return of our Membership, the racks in our Wine Cellar are filling up for the season. Use of this unique amenity for the wine enthusiast is a privilege of membership in the Windsor Wine Association. Led by a group of wine experts, the Association has more than 70 members and enjoys a robust calendar of wine tastings and wine-related

The Clubhouse INDOOR-OUTDOOR DINING AT ITS FINEST Designed by architect Clemens Bruns Schaub, the Clubhouse at Windsor features interiors by the award-winning design firm Yabu Pushelberg. With magnificent views across Windsor’s Robert Trent Jones, Jr. golf course, it is the perfect setting for receptions, luncheons and dinners. A recent refurbishment, in keeping with the Clubhouse’s original sleek style, by South Florida designer Natalie Holtom Interiors has made the space even more inviting for Members and guests. Beautifully prepared bistro cuisine is served in the contemporary dining room which features artworks from the Weston Collection by monumental artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude. Casual lunch gatherings take place in the lounge and on the patio. A regularly evolving menu includes a balance of Club classics, international fare and traditional European favorites. Overlooking the first tee, the Clubhouse patio sets a welcoming scene with its bougainvillea draped trellis and large roaring firepits. During the refurbishment the patio received new comfortable furnishings by Janus et Cie and was expanded to increase the outdoor dining capacity. All seating areas offer lovely long views of the course.
“We designed the finishes and fabrics to naturally complement the Clubhouse’s serene color pallete,” says Holtom. “Additional pops of color were introduced to the space with Kimberlee Keswick planters brimming with pink Dipladenias and teal Drum side tables by Janus et Cie dotted around the firepits.”
A light-filled private dining room on the ground floor opens onto the patio and offers an intimate space for small- to medium-sized dining affairs. On the upper level of the Clubhouse, a veranda is available for Members to hold business and social events while taking in some of the most spectacular sunset views over the course and to country estate homes beyond.

Croquet PERFECTION IS PARAMOUNT Croquet, a game that demands patience and precision, has been played at Windsor since the community’s early days, but its origins may go back as far as the 13th century. Thought to have evolved from a French game, croquet was likely introduced to England in the 16th century. The ball and mallet game gained widespread popularity when London sporting goods manufacturer John Jaques began selling complete croquet sets. With the availability of high-quality equipment, croquet flourished and soon became one of the primary social and recreational activities of the British leisure class. To this day, Jaques London remains the foremost manufacturer of croquet equipment. Croquet was introduced to the United States in the early 1870’s. The sport was first taken up by high society in the New York region, but it soon achieved general popularity throughout the country. Lawn tennis was introduced here at about the same time, but from the 1870’s through the 1890’s, croquet enthusiasts far outnumbered the tennis players. Many people are familiar with the informal backyard version of croquet. But it is the competitive version of croquet which is now experiencing a dramatic revival. Today, more than 20 countries play croquet competitively and the number of players has grown is now estimated at more than 8,000. Overlooking the polo field and equipped to championship standards, Members gather at Windsor’s croquet greensward for both social and competitive interaction. Social croquet matches, including Wine & Wickets matches – especially popular with wedding parties – are regularly held throughout the season. Instruction is available for the serious player and in abidance to the sport’s rich heritage, a white attire dress code is observed.

Windsor THE EMBODIMENT OF NEW URBANISM Windsor’s design was conceived and executed to be walkable and environmentally sensitive, with a distinct sense of place. The visually stunning architecture, which evokes relaxed island getaways and gracious historic homes in the country’s earliest cities such as Savannah, Georgia, and Charleston, South Carolina, was reimagined for a look that is uniquely Windsor. The lush, unspoiled setting, combined with top-tier sporting amenities and a lively calendar of social events tailored to a multi-generational Membership, makes for a most pleasing environment. “If current global events have made us realize anything, it’s that our homes and communities should be safe havens offering comfort and opportunities for wellbeing. In addition to amenities that make us feel relaxed and entertained, they should also enable us to experience nature and provide the space we need to refresh our mental and physical health,” writes Jessica Dailey in her piece on Windsor featured on Town & Country magazine’s website. Town & Country offers readers a style-savvy look at exceptional people, places and tastes. The monthly publication focuses on family traditions, important ideas and celebrated accomplishments.
