Parched Crow Wines A Taste of What’s to Come READ ONLINE WORDS QUENTIN VON ESSEN Located on De Beyers Rd in Pokolbin, Parched Crow Wines is a locallyowned vineyard and cellar door that has very quickly gained a reputation for crafting exceptional single vineyard estate-grown wines from Pokolbin vineyards dating back to the 1950s and ’60s. A visit to the charming and recently renovated cellar door provides visitors with a truly memorable wine-tasting experience from a wine portfolio that ranges from Semillon, Chardonnay and Rose to Shiraz, Shiraz Nouveau, Muscat and Moscato. While Parched Crow Wines may be a relatively new player in the Hunter's extensive wine offerings, its vines and wines have a history that promises great things to come. and General Manager Grace Eglit helping to drive the vision, this is a business and wine label to watch. Two new compelling products have hit the shelf just in time for Spring. The new Picnic in the Pasture experience allows visitors to enjoy the rustic charm of the Cellar Door, savour wines, sample local cheeses and take in the surrounding farmland ($100 per couple). The second new product is the release of the highly-anticipated Vintage Muscat, 2019 ($60). It’s the best Muscat yet, with caramelised fig and dried apricot on the nose and a palate filled with golden syrup, raisin and spice flavours. Whilst a new wine label from these historical vines may be exciting enough, Ross's vision for Parched Crow Wines and Tarin Grove Estate (his cattle business) is far greater, seeing it as his mission to return the land to its intended purpose, which is to be farmed for beef and vineyards, and he is quite passionate about it. As a result, there’s a new 4-hectare development planned and approved on McDonalds Rd to house and support smaller local boutique wineries and a butchery selling Tarin Grove Pokolbin Beef. Whatever the future holds, the current De Beyers Rd cellar door offers just a taste of what’s to come, and we can’t wait to see where Parched Crow Wines finally lands. So, make sure you don’t miss the opportunity to discover the Parched Crow Wines cellar door and experience an exceptionally authentic, country-style wine tasting whilst learning about the story of how Parched Crow came to be for yourself.
