But don’t just take our word for it – come see for yourself! Settle in as you enjoy tasting top-tier Single Vineyard and Reserve red wines expertly paired with a variety of cuisines prepared by in-house wine and food expert, Chef Britny Maureze.

Founded as a collaboration between Winemaker Joe Benziger and Artist Bob Nugent in 1987, Imagery Estate Winery is a marriage of art and wine. Unique varietals with a twist such as Lagrein, Malbec, Primitivo, Tannat, Viognier, and Albariño are produced along with California favorites such as Cabernet, Chardonnay, Merlot, and white blends. Their wines not only reflect artistry on the inside of the bottle but on the outside label as well. For each wine, every vintage will receive a different commissioned artwork to be featured as the label. The original canvas is then received into their gallery collection onsite with pieces showcased on rotation throughout the tasting room.
The common thread uniting each label is the requirement each artist incorporate a Parthenon into the piece. Often small and obscure, it pays homage to a hand-drawn sketch
Bob once made of a smaller replica Parthenon located at Benziger Winery. The nod to this iconic structure connects the two properties and two generations of family winemaking. An adaptation of the original sketch can be found on their flagship Bordeaux Blend, Pallas. Unlike their other wines, the label for this special bottling remains constant for each vintage.
Now leading the charge at Imagery are two dynamic and accomplished young women: Jamie Benziger and Kara Lynae de Lambert . With the last name of Benziger, Jamie knew she had big shoes to fill when her father Joe retired from Imagery Estate in 2017. While completing her marketing and wine business degrees at Sonoma State University, she interned at Gundlach Bundschu, St. Francis Winery, and did a harvest in New Zealand. But it was working in the lab at Benziger and being mentored by her father which affirmed
BY TANYA SEIBOLDher calling. Her first release, a Tempranillo Rosé, sold out in two months, and her portfolio of wines and recognition have grown with each vintage.
Kara Lynae de Lambert, Imagery Curator: Kara’s background in art history and arts management lead her to Imagery Estate where creative expression has been at the forefront of each bottle since the winery’s inception. Over the past ten years, Kara has managed the winery’s Artistry Label Program commissioning emerging and established artists for the wine label brand. A staggering total of 700 pieces from 400 artists will grace the front label of 30 unique bottlings per year. Kara selects the artists whose works are varied in medium, techniques, and expression and then she and Jamie taste together while viewing the submissions to find the right expression for that varietal and vintage.
The tasting room offers a wide variety of tastings experiences and walk-ins are welcome. The pinnacle of their tastings is the Collections Tasting with Gallery Tour. Here, you will be immersed in the fine arts and fine wine. This intimate, seated, and semi-private experience highlights their most coveted small lot wines and includes the story behind each label. Includes hosted gallery tour and seated exploration of five unique wines led by one of their seasoned wine specialists.
Available Friday-Sunday at 10¯30am, 1pm, and 3pm; on Mondays at 10¯30am and 1pm. $60 per guest; $48 for wine club members.
Gather friends and family to savor a glass of one of Imagery’s unique wines while you enjoy a private game of bocce at their recently renovated lawn area. Your experience is hosted by a knowledgeable wine specialist who will share insights into their uncommon varietals, blends, and artwork. Available Thursday-Monday from 10¯30am. Reservations required. $50 per guest; $40 for wine club members. Includes one glass of wine per person. Additional wine and food options are available for purchase in the tasting room or pack a picnic as outside food is allowed.

Who isn’t grateful for all the Thanksgiving leftovers after the year’s most celebrated meal concludes? There’s no better way to enjoy Thanksgiving extras than with Chef Christina Machamer’s delicious and easy Leftover Turkey Pot Pie recipe.
This recipe is best crafted using homemade chicken stock or a high-quality chicken bone broth, as it adds a unique depth of flavor. In chef’s kitchen, she makes chicken stock in large batches and freezes it in quart sized containers until needed. Pot pie can be frozen, unbaked, for up to 2 months and cooked directly from frozen until it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F. This can take close to 2 hours in the oven. For your crust, Chef suggests using your favorite pie crust recipe or purchase 2 prepared pie crusts (like she would).
For red wine lovers, there’s no better match than Pinot Noir for the succulent flavor and creamy texture of this hearty dish. Frank Family 2021 Carneros Pinot Noir has bright acidity, as well as extreme versatility, not only making it a solid wine for pairing with turkey, but also the flaky pie crust and mixed vegetables that come together in this comfort food classic.
• 1/3 cupunsalted butter
• 1/3 cupchopped onion
• 1/3 cup all purpose flour
• 1/2 teaspoon diamond crystals kosher salt
• 1/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
• 1 & 3/4 cups homemade chicken stock
• 1/2 cup whole milk
• 2 & 1/2 cups shredded leftover turkey or chicken
• 1/4 teaspoon Kosher salt
• 2 cups frozen vegetables (thawed)
METHOD
Heat oven to 425°F. Prepare pie crusts as directed on box for two-crust pie using 9-inch glass pie pan.
In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add onion and sauté until translucent, approximately 2 minutes. Stir in flour, salt, and pepper until well incorporated. Gradually stir in stock and milk, cooking and stirring until it begins to boil, and sauce is thickened.
Stir in chicken and mixed vegetables. Remove from heat. Spoon chicken mixture into crust-lined pan. Top with second crust; seal edge and flute. Cut slits in several places in top crust to allow steam to escape.
Brush top crust with egg white, sprinkle with salt and pepper.
Bake 30 to 40 minutes or until crust is golden brown and internal temperature reaches 165°F. If crust starts to get too dark in color during final stages of baking, loosely cover with aluminum foil. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.
Residents and visitors alike are looking forward to the coming of The Kitchen at Priest Ranch in downtown Yountville, opening early this month. Centered on fast casual food, with counter service only, the spot will serve breakfast items earlier in the day, followed by lunch and dinner items. Patio seating will be offered in the back, and on the only rooftop lounge in Yountville – sure to become the highlight of the long-awaited spot.
Executive Chef Dan Solomon caught us up on his plans for the new facility which is gradually taking shape next door to the Priest Ranch tasting room at 6488 Washington Street in Yountville. The once empty space is slowly being transformed into a cozy haven for grabbing a quick casual meal, a to-go breakfast, lunch or picnic, and a fun place to enjoy dinner and a bottle of wine, overlooking this gorgeous little slice of Napa County heaven.
“Yountville really needs something like what we’re
offering,” says Chef Dan, who has been doing popular popup dinners on Thursday evenings while construction continues. “People are constantly dropping in to ask when we are going to open.” They’re looking forward to the house burgers, topped with special house sauce, housemade pickles and locally sourced “American cheese,” something Solomon calls good old fashioned comfort food. He plans to source the burger buns from Bouchon, and is looking to source other baked goods from local purveyors. “Eventually, I’d really love to hire a baker and do everything in-house!” says Solomon, but that’s a project for the next phase.
The fries, with their tender baked potato interior and crispy exterior, are sure to be a hit, the staff assures me. They’ve been checking out all the offerings as Solomon has been developing the menu, which includes three breakfast items, among them the Two by Four featuring eggs, bacon, hashbrowns and toast; the Gas Station sandwich and the Loaded Latke. Lunch will feature a fried chicken sandwich, the house burger, ham panini and three salads, including a Caesar. “I’m planning on doing salads seasonally, and hopefully we get open in time to do a panzanella with tomatoes!” He’s got a great tomato soup recipe, so expect to see a grilled cheese sandwich joining the menu at some point. “I love food that is homey and nostalgic,” says Solomon. “We’re leaning into cuisine that’s easy to eat and made from the best possible ingredients.”
For those looking for a more hearty meal, there will be steak frites, vegetarian pasta and a fish dish, along with the chef’s special. He plans to keep the total menu to about 14 items, with weekly additions driven by what’s fresh and in season. “We’ll have a limited number of those items, probably 15 servings
daily,” says Solomon. The space is tiny, so ordering must be done with efficiency in mind. But that won’t stop him from sourcing from the best purveyors: he already gets his amazing pork belly used in the famous Priest Ranch Bacon and Wine experience — which by the way, is so totally worth it — from Baker’s Bacon.
Priest Ranch Marketing Director, Melissa Jackson, tells us they will have half bottles available to enjoy at the Kitchen, as well as to go. “We are first and foremost a winery,” says Solomon, who hails from Oswego, Illinois. “Our food will certainly be designed to pair well with our most food friendly wines, like the Cabernet Sauvignon and The Peacemaker.”
In the grab-n-go area, there will be salads, sandwiches, cookies and premade charcuterie boards. Solomon is looking for bakery partners to augment the sweet tooth items.
“I am very focused on what is happening in front of us, but I am always keeping an eye on the future,” says Solomon, who attended culinary school in Chicago and worked at several restaurants there before coming to Napa. “Step 1 is just getting open!”
“Yountville really needs something like what we’re offering... People are constantly dropping in to ask when we are going to open.” CHEF DAN SOLOMON

Isla Rose is a pretty name in and of itself. Pair it with wine, and it grows even more beautiful. Combine it further with October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month and it becomes a vintage with its own power.
Bricoleur Vineyards’ Isla Rose Brut Rosé is just that wine. A critically acclaimed rosy sparkler named for the two-year-old daughter of Bricoleur Vineyards’ co-Founder and COO Sarah Hanson Citron, the wine is topping the tasting menu for October.
Citron, just 33, has been diagnosed with breast cancer and is facing this critical challenge with grace, strength, and the support of her close-knit family. The Hansons founded Bricoleur Vineyards to keep friends close and family closer. This wine is a testament to their latest challenge.
Throughout the month of October, Bricoleur Vineyards will donate $5 from every purchase of Isla Brut Rosé to the VFoundation. For every case, the Hansons will make a matching $60 donation to the same Foundation.
Bricoleur Vineyards’ newly launched “Sip with Purpose” campaign will continue for a year. October will focus on Breast Cancer Awareness and the V Foundation. Founded in 1993, the V Foundation seeks to fund cutting-edge research to help finally declare victory over cancer and has been instrumental in raising funds for cancer research through their annualºSonoma Epicureanºevent.ºTo date, the V Foundation has granted more than $310 million for cancer research, and has personally been vital in helping Sarah and her family through the early stages of her diagnosis.º
Generous philanthropists, the Hansons will also donate a portion of ticket sales from their October events at the winery to the V Foundation. See the website for event details and dates.
Other events with Bricoleur Vineyards include a first-in-the-country partnership with Sur La Table. This inaugural series of six wine and food pairing classes launched in August and runs through the end of October at Sur La Table in Santa Rosa’s Montgomery Village. Featuring wine pairings from Bricoleur Vineyards, this exciting collaboration is a natural fit as both teams are passionate about cooking, entertaining, and bringing people together.
Founded in 1972 in Seattle, Sur La Table has been offering cooking classes since 1996 and has 56 stores across the country. Bricoleur Vineyards opened in Sonoma County in 2020 and, in a short time, has amassed a stellar team that includes culinary advisor and James Beard Award-winning chef Charlie Palmer, and winemaker Bob Cabral, the first winemaker to make a 100-point North American Pinot Noir. Bricoleur Vineyards has a robust culinary program and is known for its unique wine and food pairings, which draw upon the bounty of their sustainably farmed culinary garden at the winery.

The historic Sonoma Plaza – once a Mexican military outpost, fleeting frontier republic, and Spanish Mission village – is now a gorgeous historic landmark and “slow” culture capitol. Sonoma Plaza radiates romance around every corner, cafe and cobblestone. Whether you’re here for a day trip or extended stay, Sonoma Plaza offers the picture-perfect start (and end) to your adventures. It’s a pedestrian paradise, so ditch the car keys and discover real wine country on foot or bicycle. The Plaza’s old adobe storefronts, meandering alleyways, sunlit courtyards and historic landmarks hum with an eclectic mix of restaurants, hotels, tasting rooms, cafes, artisan boutiques, galleries – even a vintage movie house. As for the nature lover, wildflower hikes and stunning hilltop vistas abound within just a short distance. Anchoring it all is the tranquil Plaza itself, whose vast green stretches of lawn and immense tree canopy create a lush setting for picnics, cultural activities and weekly farmers markets.

Sisters with sensory-driven careers on opposite sides of the country are reuniting to open Healdsburg Bubble Bar & Cuvée House, a sparkling wine-exclusive tasting room and charming vacation rental located one block off the historic Healdsburg Plaza. Healdsburg resident Sarah Quider, who has been making wine in Northern Sonoma County for more than 25 years, is teaming up with her sister, Samantha Tilley, executive chef and owner of Mockingbird Kitchen & Bar in Litchfield, Conn., to follow their long-held dream of owning a business together. Cuvée House will begin accepting reservations on Airbnb this fall, and Healdsburg Bubble Bar is projected to open this winter.
A former athletic fashion designer with a deep passion for cooking, Tilley will move back to Sonoma County this fall to run the business after nearly 12 years at the trendy Mockingbird, while her younger sister, Quider, continues to work as Senior Vice President of Winemaking at Foley Family Wines. The two grew up in Petaluma.
“For years, we’ve talked about starting a winery together, but I already work as a winemaker, so I wanted to do something different,” says Quider, who has worked in Healdsburg since 1995 when she landed her first job at Ferrari-Carano Vineyards and Winery. “We both have this sensory part of our work—her in the kitchen and me in the cellar—so we’ve spent our adult lives talking about food and wine. When this special piece of property became available, it seemed like the perfect place for us to start a family business that combines our passions for wine and hospitality.”
Located inside a circa-1905 Victorian house across from three-Michelin-star SingleThread, the Healdsburg Bubble Bar is situated on the street level of the property, and Cuvée House is behind and above the tasting room. The home boasts classic Queen Anne-style architecture, and both spaces are being reimaged by Myra Hoefer Design of Healdsburg with chic, Parisian-flat flare. The two places also share an address: 134 North Street, Healdsburg, CA 95448. Cuvée House is one of only two homes in the heart of downtown Healdsburg available for short-term vacation rental bookings.
At Healdsburg Bubble Bar, the sisters plan to offer wine tasting by the flight, by the glass and by the bottle, as well as weekly educational wine tastings, a wine club and bottles to-go. Closed on Tuesdays, their petite tasting room will seat 14 people indoors and six outdoors, with service from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Prepared snacks will also be available. The wine list will feature sparkling wines from across the globe, with a special emphasis on small producers and grower Champagne.
“We want to pay homage to France, the birthplace of sparkling wine, with our wine list and our interior design,” says Tilley, who is working on a succession plan at Mockingbird,
which will allow her popular East Bantam-area restaurant to live on under new management.
The Cuvée House is light, bright and elegant, blending century-old bones with modern French-inspired design details, from the hardwood floors and the high ceilings’ intricate crown moulding to the mid-century light fixtures and VX-period upholstered armchairs. The home features two bedrooms, one bathroom, a living room with a grand bay window, a spacious dining room, and a petite kitchen with a breakfast nook. Because the building is zoned commercial, it’s one of the few properties that’s not an inn or hotel available for nightly rental in downtown Healdsburg, due to strict zoning and conditional use permit approval required. Cuvée House is available for $880 per night with a two-night minimum. Reservations will be accepted on Airbnb this fall.
Tilley will run both businesses, while her sister continues her path as a notable winemaker who has spent her entire career in the Healdsburg area. After working her way up to executive winemaker over 20 years at Ferrari-Carano, Quider joined Foley Family Wines in 2020 when it purchased the Carano family’s wine business. She is currently Senior Vice President of Winemaking for Foley, overseeing the company’s 16 wineries from Washington, Oregon and California.
Even though Quider has never made sparkling wine, it is often her wine of choice outside of work. “I love that it’s lower in alcohol and has a lot of acidity,” Quider says. “I’ve always enjoyed drinking sparkling wine, so I thought to myself, ‘Why not do something I love in my hometown that brings something we currently don’t have? We want to create a different kind of tasting room—a place that combines sparkling wine sharing, educational discovery and celebration in a charming setting.”

With participation from over 100 local wineries, a wide selection of gold medal winners that often exceeds 450 selections will be available for tasting. Guests will also have the chance to meet folks from the winning wineries. An array of Sonoma County beers and hard ciders will also be available for tasting.
In addition, bites of the Harvest Fair’s award-winning food producers will be available. Culinary creators will share their appetizers, breads, charcuterie, olive oil, cakes, pastries, desserts and ice cream. Art works will be on display and for sale by the talented creators from The Art Workshop of Western Sonoma County.
Guests with a VIP ticket will be admitted to the Tasting Pavillion an hour early (12 p.m) and will be the first to taste the
wine and food winners. The limited number of VIP tickets also include premium parking, and access to a designated lounge area with a curated special selection of wines for tasting. A designated driver admission ($50) will be available for purchase to all participants on the day of the event.

Many wineries have bocce courts for their visitors’ enjoyment. Becase the game is played between two players or two teams of one, two, or four, it lends itself well to hanging out with friends at the winery as part of your total winery adventure. Be sure to check ahead. Some courts require reservations and/ or fees. If you have your own balls, Veterans’ Park in Yountville or Crane Park in St. Helena have bocce courts available when leagues are not in play.

Visiting a winery tasting room may sometimes be intimidating, especially if you are not used to wine tasting and aren’t quite sure what to expect.
Following the guidelines and etiquette tips below will help enhance your experience as you travel through wine country.
Due to Covid-19, there have been changes to the wine tasting adventures. So please before you go:
• Plan in advance. Most wineries are now by appointment and in some cases “as space is available” (should you not have made reservations). Don’t be shy to ask at the last minute, but understand they may be full or be reserved.
• Understand that there may be a time limit
• Ask about the different tasting experiences and costs.
• If you plan to “share” a tasting, ask if it is okay. You may still be charged per person.
• If this applies, ask if the winery is dog/child friendly.
• Be sure to adhere to individual, local and state guidelines in place at the time (i.e. mask wearing until seated, etc.)
• Be flexible
• Don’t be self-conscious to share a tasting (*if appropriate) with your companion – it’s not looked on as being cheap, in fact, it’s smart.
• Don’t worry if you think you don’t know good wine.
“Good wine” is what you like. Period.
• You don’t have to finish the glass. You are tasting, not drinking – use the dump bucket. Those little sips add up fast.
• You don’t have to like everything poured. The reason you are tasting is to see what you do and don’t like.
• Take time to smell the roses, or wine! Swirl the wine in the bowl of the glass then take your time, put your nose into the bowl of the glass … and inhale to experience the bouquet. See what fragrances you can identify: Earthy? Lemon? Honeysuckle? Cherry? Tobacco? It’s okay if you don’t identify any of those things, with time and tasting you will!
• Remember the five “S’s” of wine tasting: See (the wine in the glass), Swirl, Smell, Sip and Savor. (Take a small sip. Let the liquid surround your taste buds, what flavors can you identify)?
• Ask questions! Remember … there are no stupid questions. You are there to enjoy and learn, and your server is there to help.
• Don’t feel pressured to buy a bottle or to join a wine club, (however, if the tasting is free, or if you have a private tasting with a winemaker, it is good form to purchase a bottle).
• Leave a tip if you have had a nice experience ($5-$20 is a general rule, depending on the type of tasting).
• Don’t wear scents into a tasting room (cologne or perfume), and best not to wear white!
• Ask your server to recommend their favorite wineries to visit.
• Seek smaller, out-of-the-way, boutique wineries.
• Eat breakfast before you leave for the day and … hydrate – hydrate – hydrate! Hint: Drink one glass of water for each glass of wine.
• Bring something to snack on such as crackers, breadsticks or a baguette, (but inquire in advance if outside food is okay to bring in). Take time for lunch. When picnicking at a winery, never bring wine from another winery
• Don’t try to do too much. In general, three to four wineries will fill your day.
• If possible have a designated driver (or use a driving service). If staff feels you have had enough to drink they may refuse service, it’s for your own well-being.
• Trust your palate. Don’t worry if you don’t like what your friends or companions like. Not everyone likes the same things. This is about you – not them.
• Enjoy yourself!
