Discover the TASTE OF BERINGER Experience
A Journey Through Wine, Food, and History
Nestled in the heart of Napa Valley, Beringer Vineyards stands as one of the oldest and most iconic wineries in the region, renowned for its commitment to crafting world-class wines. Among its many offerings, the Taste of Beringer Experience is a standout — a unique and intimate opportunity for guests to explore not only Beringer’s exquisite wines but also its rich culinary heritage, deep history, and the terroir that has shaped its legacy.
A Personalized Wine and Food Exploration
The “Taste of Beringer Experience” is much more than a typical wine tasting; it’s an immersive journey designed to captivate all the senses. From the moment guests arrive, they are invited to embark on a 90-minute tour that weaves together the stories of Beringer’s heritage with carefully curated wine and food pairings.
What sets this experience apart is its emphasis on Beringer’s exclusive and reserve wines, allowing participants to enjoy some of the winery’s most prized creations. Six wines are thoughtfully paired with five seasonal pairings, all crafted by the on-site culinary team. With ingredients like organic vegetables sourced directly from Beringer’s garden, each bite enhances the natural flavors and aromas of the wines.
One example of this culinary excellence on Beringer’s Fall offering is the Mushroom Arancini, served with a Manchego Bechamel, which provides a rich, savory contrast to Beringer’s Bancroft Ranch Howell Mountain Merlot. All five culinary combination has been meticulously crafted to offer a harmonious balance between food and wine.
Historic Setting | Luxurious Atmosphere
Guests embarking on the Taste of Beringer Experience begin their journey at the Beringer Welcome Center before proceeding on a walking tour of the estate. The tour covers various points of interest across the expansive vineyard grounds, culminating in a private tasting within the Historic Rhine House. This Victorian mansion, with its storied past and luxurious ambiance, provides a fitting backdrop for an experience that celebrates the marriage of tradition and innovation.
As they traverse the estate, guests have the chance to immerse themselves in the beauty and history of Beringer. One highlight of the tour is a visit to the Sensory Garden, where aromatic herbs and plants help guests connect with the complex flavors that they’ll later experience in the wine and food pairings. During the fall season, guests are treated to an even more unique experience as they walk through the experimental vineyard, sampling grapes directly off the vine — a rare opportunity to taste the vineyard’s bounty in its purest form.
Wine Expertise and Education
Guiding this journey is a Beringer wine expert who not only shares insights into each wine but also provides a deeper understanding of the principles behind food and wine pairing. Whether guests are seasoned wine enthusiasts or novices just beginning their exploration, the tour offers something for everyone. The expert delves into concepts like balance, terroir, and tasting techniques, providing an educational layer that enhances the overall experience.
While the focus is primarily on the pairing of food and wine, guests are also encouraged to ask questions and explore broader topics, including winemaking processes, vineyard management, and Napa Valley’s unique growing conditions.
Connect with Napa Valley’s Pioneering Spirit
One of the most fascinating aspects of the “Taste of Beringer Experience” is how it connects guests to the rich history of the winery and its role in shaping Napa Valley’s wine
culture. Beringer’s history dates back to 1876, and as the tour progresses, guests learn about the winery’s pioneering role, including its early contributions to Napa’s culinary scene.
A visit to the Sensory Garden reveals another historical gem: its proximity to the Hudson House, home to the first culinary school in Napa Valley, “The School for American Chefs,” led by the legendary Madeleine Kamman. Her influence remains a testament to Beringer’s commitment to the craft of food and wine.
At the end of the tour, guests are treated to a tasting in the Historic Rhine House, which serves as a visual and cultural reminder of Beringer’s lasting legacy.
A Memorable Experience for All
For those looking to dive deeper into Napa Valley’s wine and food culture, the Taste of Beringer Experience offers a journey that blends history, flavor, and education in one of California’s most iconic settings. Whether it’s your first-time exploring wine or you’re a seasoned collector, this experience will leave you with a deeper appreciation for Beringer’s legacy and the art of food and wine pairing.
Book A Tour
The “Taste of Beringer Experience” lasts approximately 90 minutes and is available year-round, with the menu changing seasonally to reflect the freshest ingredients. Priced at $95 per person, the experience offers a discount for Beringer Club Members. CELEBRATE SONOMA! 200 YEARS IN THE MAKING
BY JODY PURDOM
World-famous Sonoma Valley –renowned for incredible wine and before that, apples, pears, cherries and a glorious abundance of other fruit and vegetables. Of course, long before the first crops were planted in the bucolic Valley of the Moon, indigenous people called the area home for more than 12,000 years. Grapes arrived with Spanish missionaries in the early 19th century with the first vines planted by Padre Jose Altimira at Mission San Francisco Solano in the city of Sonoma in 1823. Taking root some two-hundred years ago, those first plants have spawned an industry few could have imagined at the time.
Although the Sonoma Valley didn’t officially gain American Viticultural status (AVA or appellation) until 1981, it now comprises an astonishing 14,000plus acres of vineyards and somewhere in the vicinity of 100 wineries and tasting rooms. The valley’s gorgeous rolling vineyards stretch all the way from the mountainous northern reaches of Kenwood to the flatter, windier Carneros region in the south. Each AVA brings its own unique and special flavor profile to the grapes grown there.

FARMING FAMILIES
The legacy of generations has impacted the world of wine
The Sangiacomo family began farming pears on what is known as their Home Ranch, a property dating back to the mid-1800s. Farming ever since, the family added table and wine grapes, keeping the fruit trees which included the pears as well as apples, peaches, prunes and cherries as the ranch expanded to 400 acres from its original 88. Third generation family partner, Steve Sangiacomo, is aligned with siblings Mike and Mia as the family farm continues to move forward. “Our grandparents settled in this beautiful town in 1927 and we’ve been so fortunate to have farmed in Sonoma Valley for over 95 years,” said Sangiacomo. “We are grateful to have a multi-generational business and are overwhelmed to see how special this community has become. The 200th anniversary of farming in the valley is an important milestone and one we are excited to be a part of and help celebrate. Now we’re looking forward to the next 200 years!”
Last month, the Sangiacomo family was named Sonoma County Wine Celebration Honoree by the Sonoma County Vintners and Growers for their contributions to the local community.
A story about Sonoma Valley’s original farm families would not be complete without including the colorful history of Agoston Haraszathy.
Elected the Sherriff of San Diego in 1850, he built the first jail there, serving for two years before moving north in pursuit of gold and the perfect terrior for fine wines. He found it in Sonoma where he established Buena Vista Winery in 1857. From that point forward, the self-proclaimed “Count of Buena Vista” was a vivacious and eccentric pioneer with a veritable love and unending commitment to California wine. An experimental innovator and vintner, a respected author and shrewd businessman, and a brilliant and incredibly zealous promoter, The Count is considered California’s most acclaimed and flamboyant vinicultural pioneer and evangelist. His legacy continues to this day with the Buena Vista tagline, “Our Future is Our Past.”
Gloria Ferrer Winery, the first sparkling winery in Carneros, was founded in 1986 by Gloria and José Ferrer, long before it became an established AVA. They recognized the ideal climate for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay — and thus the perfect terroir for brilliant sparkling wines. The Ferrers, with their deep-rooted expertise from their family’s renowned sparkling wine estate in Spain, brought their legacy to California. The winery was established with a vision to create exceptional sparkling wines using traditional méthode champenoise techniques. The estate focuses on sustainable farming practices, including organic farming methods, to preserve the land and enhance grape quality. This commitment to sustainability and heritage has helped Gloria Ferrer establish a reputation for excellence, producing elegant, award-winning wines that reflect both its historical roots and innovative spirit.
Leveroni Vineyards – The Leveroni family has been a cornerstone of Sonoma County's agricultural landscape for generations, blending tradition with innovation in their farming practices. Joe Leveroni and Pat Stornetta, a brother-sister team, are winegrowers on their 570-acre Home Ranch with its 250 acres of vineyard and the family’s dairy of 500 milking cows. They continue a four-generation tradition of farming and conservation that has preserved this historic site since 1886. Their Sonoma Valley Appellation vineyards are planted in Chardonnay and Pinot Noir … separated from the Carneros District Appellation by Leveroni Road, the scenic wine country corridor that bears their family name.
The Sebastiani name is eponymous with Sonoma Valley. When Samuele Sebastiani emigrated from the Tuscany region of Italy in 1895, he set off a chain reaction that reverberates throughout the valley to this day. A stonemason by trade, he saved enough money to purchase land in Sonoma, starting Sebastiani Winery in 1904 and making wine for the Sonoma community and restaurants of San Francisco. His great grandson, Chris Sebastiani is a fourth generation Sonoman who carries on the tradition with pride. “My family could not be more honored to have played a role in helping Sonoma Valley become the world-renowned winemaking region it is,” said Sebastiani.
“We hold our collective past close to our heart and look to the future with optimism and dedication to continue the tradition of excellence we have all created.”
In Sonoma Valley, the legacy of old farming families like these is deeply intertwined with the region's rich agricultural heritage. Five generations of the Kunde family have been responsibly cultivating exceptional wines on for more than 100 years.
These families, and others such as Batto and Leveroni, have cultivated the land with a profound sense of tradition and stewardship. For generations, they’ve tended to vineyards and pastures, preserving methods passed down through the ages while adapting to the evolving demands of modern agriculture. They represent a living history of resilience, innovation, and community.
SUSTAINABILITY
There cannot be enough said about the importance of sustainable farming for the future of the earth.
From Vine to Wine: Exploring St. Francis Winery’s Commitment to Sustainability
At St. Francis Winery & Vineyards, sustainability is a way of life, not just a buzzword. For more than 50 years, this winery has combined a deep commitment to the environment with its passion for crafting exceptional wines. St. Francis Winery, named after the patron saint of animals and ecology, is dedicated to preserving the ecological health of their estate vineyards while crafting premium wines from renown regions throughout Sonoma County. As a Certified California Sustainable vintner and winery, St. Francis balances its love for fine wine with a dedication to environmental stewardship, social equity, and economic viability. This commitment is reflected in every aspect of its operations, ensuring that Sonoma County remains as beautiful as ever for future generations. St. Francis Winery & Vineyards integrates sustainability into every aspect of its operations, from using cover crops, recycled compost, and natural predators to maintain soil health and balance ecosystems. Efficient water management practices include repurposing water from the facility to irrigate vines and rerouting rainwater to prevent erosion and protect groundwater. A 457-kilowatt solar system supplies over 40% of the winery’s electricity needs, further enhancing energy efficiency. The winery also blends its own nutrient-rich compost by recycling pomace from the winemaking process and blending it with locally sourced cow manure. This compost is processed offsite and returned to
the vineyards each spring to replenish key nutrients, creating a closed-loop system that reduces waste and nurtures soil health, setting St. Francis apart in its commitment to sustainability. Beyond its green initiatives, St. Francis Winery is committed to community enrichment. It supports animal charities like Canine Companions®, which provides assistance dogs to individuals with disabilities. The annual “Blessing of the Animals” fundraiser supports local animal nonprofits, and the Joe Martin Day of Service reflects the winery’s dedication to social responsibility, honoring its founder through community volunteer work each June. St. Francis Winery’s thoughtful approach to winemaking extends beyond the vineyard, fostering a legacy of sustainability, integrity, and community support. Every bottle not only offers exceptional craftsmanship but also supports a winery committed to making a positive impact.

THE FUTURE

HISTORIC SONOMA PLAZA
PRIEST RANCH
The Wines - The Kitchen - The Experience
It’s difficult to say where you should begin your visit … an amazing wine-tasting experience at the Priest Ranch tasting room in Yountville or start with breakfast or lunch at The Kitchen at Priest Ranch. One thing is for sure, plan a day where you can experience both the food and the wines, including the incredible bacon-paired wine tasting!
The Kitchen at Priest Ranch
The Kitchen at Priest Ranch opened late in 2023. In a town renowned for its creative food and many prestigious restaurants, it’s no easy task to make an immediate impact and culinary buzz. Yet, KPR (as it’s referred to) has done just that.
The menu is creative, fun, adventurous, and oh, so yummy! Together, Executive Chef Dan Solomon and Sous Chef DJ Werning craft mouthwatering dishes whose descriptions will make it difficult to choose from. (Writer’s recommendation: Order different dishes to share and “yes” to the Smashburger.)
Start your day with breakfast (but don’t think just “bacon and eggs”). Choose from a selection featuring a Breakfast Gnocchi, Loaded Latke, and Gas Station Sandwich, among other intriguing menu items. If you want something still on the “breakfast” side, try the French Toast Sticks, served with jam and maple syrup. Arranged like the game “pick up sticks,” this is fun, tasty finger food!
Whatever you choose, you’ll be eager to return to explore more. Prepare for an adventure in creative deliciousness.
If you have booked an early afternoon wine tasting at the Priest Ranch tasting room next door, you may want to arrive early and fortify yourself with lunch at KPR.
The house specialty has to be the award-winning KPR Smashburger! This mouth-watering sandwich has the meat overhanging the delicious Bouchon baked burger bun. DJ will explain (unless they are just too busy) how they came up with the recipe for this brisket and chuck blend, served with perfectly grilled onions, lettuce, tomato, and KPR sauce. It is unbelievably delicious. (Oh … do not forget the french fries!)
Salivate over the unique flavors of their Ham Panini sandwich with a Calabrian chili maple glaze! Truly one of a kind. Their Caesar Salad is served like a Caesar should be, with whole, crispy leaves of little gem lettuce lightly covered with breadcrumbs and parmesan cheese … it is meant to be picked up and eaten leaf by leaf.
The Kitchen offers a variety of creative, eclectic comfort food, each dish lovingly prepared to order. With their love for culinary art, Chef Dan and DJ want you to experience their passion with every bite you take.
Wine Tasting at Priest Ranch
Now that appetites have been sated, walk next door to the Priest Ranch tasting room for another memorable experience.
Although relatively “new” on the Napa scene (the first vintage being in 2007), Priest Ranch’s reputation has been on a straight path up.
Winemaker Cody Hurd, along with Director of Vineyard Operations Jake Knobloch, have many soil types, micro-climates, elevations, and separate vineyard blocks to work with to reflect the individual characteristics of the terroir and grape character. As Priest Ranch states, “Wines are made in the vineyard and crafted in the winery.”
Priest Ranch produces small-lot estate blends and single-varietal wines, focusing on Bordeaux varieties. In planning your visit, explore the various tastings and paired options that are available to experience. These are not your “usual” accompanied pairings, including among your choices a wine and caviar experience, a terroir (or “eat dirt”) experience and a special bacon and wine pairing.
BACON AND WINE EXPERIENCE
There is an expression, “Everything is better with bacon.” In this case, the “everything” is four selected Priest Ranch wines, each paired with a thick cut of pork belly bacon. Chef Dan has crafted flavors to pair with each wine, ensuring each delicately flavored piece of bacon* accentuates the individual characteristics and nuances of the complementary flavors of meat and wine.
*For non-meat eaters, maitake mushrooms may be substituted so that the full effect of the flavors can still be experienced.
During our recent bacon and wine experience, our host, Francisco Martinez (an unabashed plug for his knowledge of wine, food pairing, but most of all, his enthusiasm, sense of humor, and personality), explained, pair by pair, how the various glazes complemented bringing out the nuances of the individual wines. Our pairing included:
• Double Barrel (Merlot & Malbec) with a mango and mustard glaze
• Cabernet Sauvignon with a coffee and maple glaze
• Peacemaker (proprietary red blend) paired with a Guajillo chili glaze
• Coach Gun (a Bordeaux blend) paired with a Mediterranean dry rub
I’ve had bacon and wine before, but never have I had a pairing of wine and bacon highlighted with different flavor characteristics that brought out so many flavors of wine alongside the bacon. This is unique and memorable, demonstrating why and how Priest Ranch wines excel by themselves or alongside food.
Ready to “eat dirt”? Try the bold wine and chocolate pairing experience, featuring handcrafted “dirt” clumps by Chocolatier Chris Kollar, paired with Priest Ranch wines.
BY DON SONDERLING
Wine, bacon, and The Kitchen at Priest Ranch create a magical culinary symbiosis of food, wine, and flavors that present their individual personalities. On your next trip to Napa Valley, plan a trip to Yountville and include the chic and sophisticated Priest Ranch. Feel free to tell them I sent you. You won’t be disappointed.

A TASTE FOR CABERNET
Food and Wine Experience
at W I N E R Y
BY LAURA NESS
S E UOI A G R OV E
W I N E R Y
Wineries named for places and things of the earth have deep history. Sequoia Grove is one of them. Not defined by lavish architecture or gaudy yard art, the place is anchored by those most stalwart guardians of the forest, redwood trees. No matter how many times I see this place, the charm of the fairy ring, with the filtered light streaming through the cinnamon barked Sequoias, never fails to impress.
S E UOI A G R OV
E
W I N E R Y
OOn a recent visit, my friend Ann and I were thoroughly charmed by the 2022 Sequoia Grove Haire Vineyard Chardonnay crafted by winemaker Jesse Fox. A Philadelphia native, Fox was appointed as Head Winemaker in February 2022 and oversees the production of wines from Sequoia Grove’s numerous estate vineyards and partner growers. He also happens to be a trained chef and once worked as Chef de Partie at The French Laundry, so is particularly adept at crafting food-friendly wines.
The charm of the single-vineyard, Carneros-grown Chardonnay was further elevated when Executive Chef Spencer Conaty, an alum of Michelin-starred Atelier Crenn and Saison – and his thoroughly talented partner in the kitchen, Sous Chef Ben Cereghini – approached the fairy ring bearing a small flower-decked tray with the most perfectly See’s candy confection-shaped squares of corn. These were tiny corn fritters on crack: roasted, grilled, pressed, seasoned with tajin, cilantro and Cotija cheese, and turned by culinary alchemy into a perfectly crispy bite of summer. Things were off to a very good start. While we made our way to the Cambium Room, I asked if they were planning on selling these fritters by the box – to which they smiled and then disappeared into the kitchen to continue preparation on the pairings ahead.
A Taste for Cabernet is a sensory journey meant to highlight the finesse of Sequoia Grove’s Cabernets and the unexpected way they’re able to pair with a wide spectrum of foods.
THE CHEFS
Being in a service job requires love, dedication and passion: you don’t do it for the bonuses, the fancy sports cars, the adulation or the stock. The only stock options in this job are the kind you make from bones, skin and vegetables in a big pot on the stove that cooks for hours while you sweat over making something as ephemeral as a bite of corn fritter that took two days to make.
For Executive Chef Spencer Conaty, cooking, as grueling a career as it is, gave his life meaning, structure and infinite satisfaction. He grew up in Placerville, where the idea of gourmet food was Sizzler and Applebees. A Graduate of Le Cordon Bleu Culinary School in Sacramento, he left high school at 17, and was thrilled to start his career under the tutelage of his TV idol, Iron Chef star, Chef Morimoto. In San Francisco, he had the pleasure of working under Chef Dominique Crenn, who expanded his appreciation of culinary artistry, as well as at Saison, where fire and smoke were de rigeur. From there, he relocated to Brian Arden Wines in Calistoga, Napa, where he met Ben Cereghini, and the two became collaborators in the kitchen … and perhaps more importantly, friends.
Originally from Canada, Sous Chef Ben Cereghini has cooked all over the world, from London to Barcelona, as well as at Meadowood, Press and Auberge du Soleil, in Napa. Together, these two young men make a formidable team, creating outstanding food in a place that really seems to suit them. At Sequoia Grove, a place that respects the inexorability of time and its role in making superior wines, they have found a rhythm and a stage from which to perform: don’t miss the chance to catch them in action and experience the culinary inspiration they draw from the wines.
After all, despite being in their early 30s, they’re still just kids at heart. Worldy wise and sharp as their knives, but still having fun.
It’s always worth noting how salt, sour, and fat – in this case EVOO – changes the way wine works in your mouth, which is why the winery and its host begin each of these tastings with an “eduplate” experience that serves as a jumping off point for understanding how wine and ingredients interact.
The wine for this course was the 2017 Rutherford Bench Reserve Cabernet – a quintessential Rutherford Cabernet that speaks to the importance of the winery’s location. It has warm earthiness and dusty berries reminiscent of a trail ride through a berry patch covered landscape. Briefly, salt makes it sweeter, lemon makes it bitter, olive oil brings out the minerality, and a bit of parmesan makes everything copacetic.
While we contemplated the herbs and pepper spice of the next wine – a 2016 Lamoreaux Vineyard Cabernet grown in the Oak Knoll District that has a healthy percentage of Cabernet Franc – our chefs returned with two beautiful bowls filled with local Toybox cherry tomatoes, set upon a bed of smoked tomato jam, and topped with a scoop of Bellweather Farms ricotta whipped with white miso and a dollop of EVOO. For crunchiness, they added quinoa granola. The prettiest pansies smiled up at us from the CMD Ceramics bowls, handcrafted by Conaty’s former boss at Saison. We were instructed to take knife and fork and mix everything up, to integrate all the flavors and textures. Sorry, pansies: you tasted great. I could eat this dish every day, especially with a pairing so utterly perfect as the Lamoreaux Cabernet.
Next up was the 2017 Tonella Estate Vineyard Cabernet, one of my favorites for its heavy fraction (21%) of Cabernet Franc. It came with a New Zealand-farmed Ora King salmon, pan-seared and plated with grilled purple radish and Greek yogurt ponzu and topped with a tempura battered and fried shiso leaf for a crispy crunch. Every bite was a revelation of richness, tempered by the balance of the wine, showing how a robust fish like a fattier salmon can be wellmatched with the dusty tannin of Cabernet from Rutherford. The presence of Cab Franc in all these Cabernets, make them immensely food friendly.
The 2018 Cambium, Sequoia Grove’s most iconic blend, is the wine that closes out the Taste For Cabernet experience, and one that arguably stands as its greatest winemaking achievement. This wine that combines the best lots each year to tell the story of the vintage, in the same way a Sequoia tree’s Cambium layer creates a new ring each year. Our chef’s final main course featured a strip of densely flavored duck breast, marinated and cooked at low heat for hours, accompanied by Koji grilled eggplant topped with bacon and onion jam, and dressed with 5-spice demiglace. A beautiful strip of pureed late-season carrot with butter topped with a tuille shaped like a duck feather completed the Feng Shui presentation of this dish. Simple, elegant and harmonious, it did the towering wine proud.
Oh, and there was honey ice cream for dessert, made from the beehives on property, and set most surprisingly and enjoyably on a bed of pop rocks. Talk about a buzz.
I don’t know what was more fun: talking about wine and food with the two chefs, or experiencing the wine and food pairings they had lovingly slaved over, but that 90-minute experience went by way too fast, and left us both with a deep appreciation for elegant wines and what it takes to make it in the culinary world.
A Taste for Cabernet: Ultimate Food and Wine Experience is the flagship experience available at the winery is available twice daily, Wednesday through Monday, $150/pp.

All agourd! Skunk Train’s Legendary Pumpkin Express
BY LAYNE RANDOLPH
The conductor’s cry of “All agourd!” signaled that this ride would be a lot of fun, and after two short toots on the horn, the train was off on its journey through the Mendocino redwoods to the highly anticipated destination: The Pumpkin Patch. Passengers nibbled on seasonal snacks and sipped warm cider (alcoholic options for adults) while the train climbed the steep east face of the Coastal Mountain Range. The little Pumpkin Express chugged along through Douglas Fir and Coastal Redwood forests, eventually passing through Tunnel #2 before descending into the redwood-thick Noyo River Canyon.
The historic Skunk Train has been on the rails through the Mendocino County redwoods since 1885, and it is busy yearround with other seasonal trips like the Mr. Skunk and the GIANT Christmas Tree Train and the Mushroom and Whisky Train. But there’s no better way to get in the mood for fall than to climb aboard the Pumpkin Express to pick a bright-orange pumpkin from a special patch located deep in the forest. The 1915 Skunk Train Depot, adorned with seasonal decorations, lavishes guests with Halloween spirit from October 5 to October 27.
It was recently named #5 on USA TODAY’s 10 Best Readers’ Choice Awards for Best Scenic Train Ride. One reason may be that there’s something for everyone on the Sunk Train’s Pumpkin Express. Nature lovers will be in heaven in the thick of the protected natural forests, and children will love the adventure. Anyone who enjoys celebrating holiday traditions can soak up the spirit of the pumpkin patch, nature’s fall colors and apple cider.
The round-trip experience is 16 miles, two hours long and leaves from the Willits depot off Hwy 101. Every ticket holder gets a pumpkin of their choice plus special activities for kids. Other optional add-ons to make the trip even more
KIDS RIDE FREE October 2-4, 9-11
Guests must purchase one full-price ticket on select days to obtain a free child’s ticket for children 13 and under.
memorable include a ride in the conductor’s cab for those over 18 and VIP tickets, which include advanced boarding, priority concessions, a picnic lunch, and a commemorative gift. Feel free to ride the Pumpkin Express in your Halloween costume. It’s not just allowed; it’s encouraged!
Don’t wait! – Trips and tickets (and pumpkins!) are limited. So, grab your camera and jump on the Pumpkin Express for a fall adventure you will enjoy. Adult beverages available.

RECOMMENDED DINING: NapaSport SteakHouse
Michael Galyen, his wife Krista, and their family have created the perfect modern hybrid of a steak house and sports bar. The intimate dining room is surrounded by bespoke dark wood and leather finishes and effortlessly blurs the lines of a fine dining restaurant and an upscaled sports-themed eatery. Having managed Michelinstarred establishments globally, Michael leveraged his expertise in haute cuisine to give rise to the much-needed affordability and accessibility a neighborhood locale could provide. His goal is to serve the true Napa locals by offering value alongside thoughtful service and the highest quality ingredients whilst still drawing in outof-towners looking for exceptional food, drink, and ambiance.
The wine list leans primarily Californian featuring prominent big red and luscious white producers, and with Michael’s connections in the business, he has access to vintages and rare bottlings that you simply won’t find elsewhere. Their mixology program showcases over 30 whiskeys and other premium liquors in seasonal cocktails, along with tap beers and local microbrews.

Discover the Unique Charm of
Lake County
W/ine tasting in Lake County offers a captivating .journey through some of California’s hidden gems in the world of winemaking. Nestled amidst picturesque landscapes, this region boasts a diverse array of vineyards and wineries, each offering its own unique charm and character. Lava domes, cinder cones, and the world’s largest geothermal field define the area and the terroir. The grapes, and therefore the wine, are uniquely influenced by geology. There are over thirty wineries to explore, with wines to savor. Sip distinctive Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Zinfandel, Merlot, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc in addition to numerous other varietals. The area is so well regarded for grape growing that several prominent names, such as the Jackson Family, Foley Family, Beckstoffer, and Constellation Brands own vineyards in Lake County. From family-owned boutique wineries to larger estates, there's something to suit every palate. The experience goes beyond just tasting wine; it’s an opportunity to immerse oneself in the local culture and hospitality while enjoying breathtaking views of Clear Lake and the surrounding mountains. Whether you’re a seasoned connoisseur or a casual enthusiast, wine tasting in Lake County promises an unforgettable adventure.
When in Kelseyville, you have to eat at Saw Shop Public House! Their motto is “Welcome to our house—everyone is local, and locals are family.” The food here will blow you away. It’s good, fun, tasty and friendly. On The Waterfront Restaurant in Lakeport is a modern eatery with a globally inspired, progressive menu of original dishes meant to be shared. The fresh and ever-changing seasonal menu is designed to tantalize your senses with a fusion of flavors, complemented by wine, to deliver an unforgettable experience. At the Blue Wing Saloon in Upper Lake, the atmosphere exudes a warm, inviting charm that makes it a local favorite. The rustic wooden interiors, adorned with vintage photographs and eclectic memorabilia, create a nostalgic ambiance that perfectly complements the hearty comfort food on the menu. Another local favorite is Red's at the Skyroom in Lakeport. Relax and watch the small planes fly in and out while enjoying traditional comfort food like fish and chips, specialty burgers, fried chicken sandwich or Uncle Gary’s Pot Roast Sandwich. But the twist? Oysters and sushi! Greenview Restaurant is another delicious option, located on the Hidden Valley Lake Golf Course.
