Kicking off the season with a jam
Mick and Brenda Warborg perform on fiddles made by Mick during the Country Jam at Bit ‘O Heaven RV Park in Donna.
Mick Warborg distinctly remembers his wife being out and about, garage/ yard sale hopping. She came home one day with “a bunch of stuff,” he said. “All kinds of things in boxes.” What’s that saying? One person’s junk is another person’s treasure? In this case, it couldn’t have been any closer to the truth. In Brenda’s collection of junk/treasure was information and tools enough to teach Mick how to make fiddles from scratch. He’s made 11 already, including the two he and Brenda used to play at Bit ‘O Heaven’s country jam Wednesday in Donna. The couple, from Brooklyn, S.D., played “When You and I Were Young Maggie,” and “Faded Love,” during the park’s first jam of the new season. Mick said he makes one fiddle per year. Brenda, who plays left-handed, is playing with the 10th fiddle he made. He plans on making just one more, the instruSee JAM pg. 2

The Bridge of Hope Africa Ministries Children’s Choir will perform in concert at Restful Valley Ranch at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 14, reports Restful Valley Activities Director Karla McNelly. The Bridge of Hope Choir is an ambassador outreach to spread the word about the work of Bridge of Hope Africa Ministries, a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization founded in Portland, Oregon in 2015 to help impoverished children and their families in Uganda, Africa. The traveling choir consists of 18 Ugandan children who “will share their hope for a bigger and brighter future through song, dance and the playing of musical instruments,” according to the organization’s website. In a telephone interview with the organization’s co-founder Katie Walter, she said the choir has been touring the western and southwest regions of the U.S. since June of this year. The tour started in Idaho in June and has made stops in Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona See BRIDGE pg. 4

From pg. 1 ments take quite a bit of time to create and “I’m 82 years old,” he said, laughing. “It’s just time.” The process to make the fiddles is detailed. Mick said he works on the fiddles almost every day when back home, but not for too long. “I just do a couple of hours a day at most,” he said. “You need to stay focused when you do this and if you try to do it too fast or work too many hours, you could get careless.” Mick made one of his fiddles for Catrina Campbell, a fiddler and songwriter based out of Nashville. The fiddle was a little different in that it was a five-string instrument as opposed to the normal four. About 40 musicians lined up for the early-season jam, an impressive number considering it was the first week of November. Guitars dominated the choice of instrument for most of the performers. Jane Heinen of Kansas just used her voice – to sing, and to yodel as well. She performed “Cowboy Sweetheart.” “I’ve been yodeling since I was itty bitty,” said Heinen, who lives in Pharr South RV Park. “There were 10 of us kids and we could all sing. Mom would listen to Eddie Arnold and yodel and I guess that’s where I picked it up.” Heinen was also into acrobatics as a child and learned she could yodel while she stands on her head. “I can still do
that,” she said. She didn’t, however, for the Country Jam. Heinen can be found at jams throughout the Valley, oftentimes with two friends Judy O’Hair and Margie Katzman, often performing individually then, if time allows, combining for an Andrews-sisters like trio. Some of their favorites to perform include “Sentimental Journey,” “When Could I Go,” and “Bye Bye Love.” Of course, no jam is complete without those in attendance to watch, enjoy and dance. Gordon Marquardt and Dorothy Masters made their way from Quiet Village II to come enjoy their first jam of the season. Marquardt is from Iowa and Masters is from Nebraska. Masters said they enjoy coming to the jams – and have been for many years. “There are some amazing musicians down here, it really is terrific,” said Masters, who used to play the violin. “The music is great, there are so many things to do – and the people are so incredibly friendly. We have fun at these jams.”

BOHAM Choir Children posing outside in Wakiso, Uganda near the choir house where they trained for eight months prior to tour.
From pg. 1 and New Mexico, making its last stop in Texas. Besides the performance at Restful Valley Ranch, the choir will also be performing at St. Paul Lutheran Church in McAllen on Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. and Nov. 17 at 5 p.m., plus three more shows at St. Paul on Sunday, Nov. 18 at 8, 9:30 and 10:45 a.m. Their final concert currently scheduled in the Valley is at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mercedes on Nov. 18 at 4 p.m. They are still accepting bookings for additional performances before heading up to Burleson, Texas on Nov. 27. The number to call for bookings is 503-956-5997. Walter said the purpose of the choir tour is multi-pronged. “First it is help get our children sponsors, to help children who have been several waiting years to get sponsors.” The choir outreach will help the organization achieve their goals to double the number of children they help through the sponsorship program. Walter said the second purpose of the tour is “to support those families we are already committed to.” While sponsoring a child provides basic educational opportunities, school supplies, school uniforms, medical checkups and medicines, the families of those children need assistance with food, bedding, and other necessities. The web-
site states, “At the heart of our ministry is to provide opportunities for children. We believe teaching children entrepreneurial skills will put them on a path toward success. We hope to empower children’s families to be self-reliant entrepreneurs as well.” One method Bridge of Hope employs to meet this goal is through microenterprise projects. “The first business concept through our sponsorship program is rearing of chickens and selling eggs.,” according to the website. The program also enables the children and their families to earn a small income and save for the future. Additionally, the project improves nutrition for the child and the family and teaches the family important concepts such as budgeting and saving for the future. A third purpose of the choir’s tour is to “open the children’s eyes to another part of the world. Then they will become ambassadors when they go back home and share their experiences,” said Walter. Thus far, the tour has been quite successful for the fledgling non-profit. Walter said they had 135 children sponsored in the program before the tour, and they now have 322 sponsorships. “It’s been a great way to grow the ministry,” she said. Restful Valley Ranch is located at 7130 W. Expressway 83 in Mission. For directions, call the Restful Valley office at 956-519-8650.

Christmas Child Collection Week approaches
Beginning Nov. 12 through Nov. 19, a McAllen church will be among 5,000 U.S. drop-off locations collecting shoebox gifts for children overseas during the annual Operation Christmas Child’s National Collection Week. Families, churches and group can transform empty shoeboxes into fun gifts filled with toys, school supplies and hygiene items. The Samaritan’s Purse partners with local churches worldwide to deliver these gifts to children affected by war, disease, poverty and famine. This year, the project is setting a goal to collect nearly 2,900 gifts to contribute to the global goal of reaching 11 million children. “We are honored to be linking arms with our community to help children around the world experience the true
meaning of Christmas,” said Matt McClellan, regional director, in a press release. “These simple gifts show God’s love to children facing difficult circumstances.” Baptist Temple, located at 2001 Trenton Road in McAllen will be open to collect the shoebox gifts the following days and times:

Enjoy a unique learning experience at the Palo Alto Battlefield Memorial in Brownsville this Saturday, Nov. 17. Chat with living historians and listen to stories about the battle of Palo Alto and the Mexican War. Programs include live musket and artillery demonstrations. Weapons demonstrations are dependent upon weather. The program begins at 4 p.m., followed by the Memorial Illumination at sunset. Experience and participate in the lighting of 8,000 candles to honor U.S. and Mexican veterans of 1846 battles near the Rio Grande. Starting at 4 p.m. staff will make presentations about the Battle of Palo Alto and approximately 8,000 luminarias will be placed on the battlefield honoring all soldiers who fought in the war from both
armies. Winter Texans are invited to bring their grill lighters and help light the candles inside the luminarias. The scene is touching when all 8,000 candles are lit, and the entire battlefield is glowing. The program may also include people in period clothing, a weapons demonstration and a camp scene. Parking is limited, so plan to arrive early. No food will be available at the park, but you may bring food with you. Seating is limited, so bring your lawn chairs. Admission is free. To reach Palo Alto, exit expressway 83 at FM 518, the Port of Brownsville Road. Go left on FM 518 three miles but do not get on the toll road. At FM 517 turn left and Palo Alto Battlefield will be on the right in one-half mile. For information or directions call 956-541-2785.
The PSJA Memorial Early College High School and Wolverine Theatre will present “Tarzan: The Stage Musical” at the Roberto Gomez Jr. Performing Arts Center, 800 S. Alamo Road in Alamo. Based on the animated Disney tale, Tarzan the Musical is a classic example of heroism and braver in the face of danger. “It is filled with many literary elements that help create the interactive experience,” said Gabriel Ramirez, head drama director and technical director for PSJA Memorial Early College High School. “All actors and technicians are high school students. If it looks like they are having fun, it’s because they are.” Performances will be held at 7 p.m. Nov. 15 and 16 and there will be two matinees, one at 2 p.m. on Nov. 17 and the other at 3 p.m. on Nov. 18. Tickets are $7 each and can be purchased at the door.
“Everything that you will see was created by the Technical Theatre classes here at PSJA Memorial High School,” Ramirez said. “For the past three months our students have studied, designed, constructed and created the characters and scenery that you will enjoy.” The PSJA Memorial Theatre was nominated for nine Palm awards last year and won Best Ensemble in a Musical with the production of “The Addams Family Musical.” “Tarzan: The Stage Musical” is the group’s entry for the 2018-19 Palm Awards. The Palm Awards is a awards ceremony presented by the McAllen Performing Arts Center that recognizes and supports the high school theater community in Hidalgo County. Sweetwater brings sweet music, dancing to WT resorts It didn’t take long for the dancing to kick into high gear. In fact, the dance floor was a popular place as soon as long-time band Sweetwater played its first song on Saturday at Trophy Gardens RV Resort in Alamo. The dancing really didn’t stop. Whether the band played “Going to Kansas City,” “Amarillo by Morning,” “Mustang Sally,” or “Footloose,” the crowd had a case of the happy feet and enjoyed the evening. Teresa Howard twirled in her patriotic long skirt, laced with red, white and blue. Terry and Gayle Steinbeck power two-stepped around and around the dance floor at Trophy Gardens. The resort rec hall was a hot spot while Sweetwater just kept pumping out the tunes to the delight of a nearly full house. The band is made up of lead singer and guitarist Javier Moroles, Ken Colburn on steel guitar, Frank Zamora on bass and the “kid” Adam Garcia Jr. on the drums. Garcia just became part of the band a month ago, replacing the previous drummer who became ill and needed time away to recuperate. The band, which has been around “for a long time, a very long time,” according to Morales, who set the tone right away for a large crowd. He said that it doesn’t always work that way. While the band is mainly country – and we’re talking from
Merle Haggard to Vince Gill and newer; they can also hammer out some rock ‘n roll. They had to at a recent dance at another resort. “The country just wasn’t working,” said Moroles, an Alamo native and resident. “There are some nights and some parks with just very different tastes. One park will be all older country, another will be rock and another will be a little of everything. “Our job is to detect it and get it right for them.” By the looks of things on Friday, the band could’ve played anything to a very anticipating crowd. During Kenny Loggins’ “Footloose” a big circle of dancers formed on one corner of the floor and different dancers took turns in the center showing their moves…it was as close to a Winter Texan mosh pit as one will find. Moroles said he almost never became a guitarist, even though he was passionate and wanted to learn. His dad bought him his first real guitar when he was about 11. Along with it came an instruction book with chords and simple songs, and a whole lot of frustrations. “Dad bought me a guitar, but it was very hard to learn – I just couldn’t get my fingers to do what I wanted them to do,” he said. “I quit playing – honestly, I don’t know how many times I quit playing.” However, he kept watching the Beatles
Sweetwater singer and and Elvis Presley and it just encouraged him to keep trying. “It took years to be able to play a song,” he said. “First song I ever learned – I think everyone learns it – is ‘Gloria.’ You only need three chords.” Moroles joined a band when he was 13 with a group of friends that were “a little better than I was,” he said. “Not too many kids could play at our age – I played bass with a regular guitar.” One time before a practice, Moroles and the drummer were playing some Monkeys songs when someone from another band heard him singing and asked him to try out for their band. “They had fired their singer and asked me to try out. I just happened to know all
guitarist Javier Moroles their songs,” he said. “They were college aged and already established. They were called Mark 5 and it was a lot of fun.” The band’s name comes from all the Cowboy movies where there was a town called “Sweetwater.” They started playing in Winter Texan resorts in 2000 and can be seen playing all across the Rio Grande Valley. They’ll be back at Trophy Gardens for a New Year’s Eve dance. To book Sweetwater, call Moroles at (956) 223-9169. “We started out as a traditional country band and have learned a lot of songs, newer ones and rock songs,” Moroles said. “Whatever it takes to get them to pop up and dance is what we’ll play. We enjoy that.”

WINTER TEXAN TIMES MOSTHISTORY
From pg. 1 signed by Senior Historian Tom Fort and Associate Education Officer Joseph Fox, features side-by-side comparisons between historic photos of early buildings in Edinburg and recent photos showing what these sites are today. These photos include: the Lipscomb building (once a dry goods store on today’s Cano Street), school buildings such as the 1915 Edinburg High School (now on Edinburg CISD’s main administration campus), churches like the Sacred Heart Catholic Church (on 16th Avenue and Kuhn Street), First Baptist Church (formerly on Samano Street and East Champion) and many more. The crown jewel of the exhibit is a 1925 panoramic photo taken from the top of the Cook-Everett building, which perfectly captured the town of Edinburg and the surrounding countryside. This picture was recreated for the exhibit using a camera attached to a drone, and it showcases changes that have occurred over 100 years of the All-America City’s existence. The exhibit will be presented in the Classroom gallery. On opening day of the “Edinburg: Then and Now” exhibit, the public is welcome to enjoy a walking tour of downtown Edinburg that will start at 8 a.m. Please meet in the museum’s north parking lot ten minutes before. At 10 a.m., the museum will open its doors to Free Sat-

urday Morning, allowing the community to enjoy free admission to the museum and all of its exhibits. Museum visitors are welcome to attend a short multimedia presentation about “Edinburg: Then and Now” exhibit followed by a tour of the exhibit. The exhibit will remain open to the public in the Classroom gallery until mid-2019. Museum of South Texas History The Museum of South Texas History is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums. It is located in downtown Edinburg at 200 N. Closner Blvd. on the Hidalgo County Courthouse square. Hours of operation are from 1 p.m.-5 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday–Saturday. Founded in 1967 as the Hidalgo County Historical Museum in the 1910 Hidalgo County Jail, the museum has grown over the decades through a series of expansions to occupy a full city block. In 2003, following the completion of a 22,500 square foot expansion, the museum was renamed the Museum of South Texas History to better reflect its regional scope. Today, the museum preserves and presents the borderland heritage of South Texas and Northeastern Mexico through its permanent collection and the Margaret H. McAllen Memorial Archives and exhibits spanning prehistory through the 20th century. Wild By Nature by Luciano Guerra
Of the 400-plus species of birds that have been reported to Cornell Lab of Ornithology’s eBird across the Rio Grande Valley, most are year-round residents. Others are either winter or summer residents, some are migratory visitors and a few are vagrant, or accidental, species. While the birds that fall into the first three categories make up the vast majority of bird species you’ll see here in the Valley, it is the birds that fall into the vagrant species category that create the most excitement among birders. These are birds that have strayed far outside their expected breeding, wintering or migrating range. These are individual birds that show up in an area that is hundreds or even thousands of miles away from where they are usually seen. In January of this year, a Snowy Owl, a species that is native to Arctic regions in North America and Eurasia., was being seen in Odessa, Texas. How this bird ended up so far away from its normal range is a mystery, but once word of this oncein-a-lifetime opportunity to see a Snowy Owl in Texas got out, birders from all
over the state made their way to Odessa in hopes of seeing it for themselves. While that sighting was nearly a year ago and hundreds of miles away, there has been a much more recent vagrant bird sighting right here in the Valley. A female Varied Thrush (photographed here) was seen by several visitors to the National Butterfly Center (NBC) in Mission, Tuesday of last week. The news of this rare bird sighting spread like wildfire and soon had birders from as far away as New York state, Ohio and even Ontario, Canada making their way to Mission in hopes of seeing and photographing this Robin-like bird, rarely seen east of the Rockies. The Rio Grande Birding Festival had just kicked off the day this bird was first reported, which meant there were already many birders from across the United States in the Valley. While some of them were able to make the quick trip from Harlingen to Mission the same day, others were lined up in their cars outside the NBC’s front gate the following morning waiting for the center to open. And as the bird continued to be seen, birders from
far-and-wide continued to make their way to Mission, in hopes of adding a West Coast species to their birding life lists right here in South Texas. How long this bird will remain in the Valley is not known, but birders are expected to continue coming to Mission for as long as it makes the NBC its home away from home. Upcoming Nature Events and Activities • Resaca de la Palma State Park (1000 New Carmen Ave., Brownsville) Butterfly Walk, Saturday, Nov. 17, 2:30 pm, and Intro to Birding, Thursday, Nov. 15, 10 am. 956-350-2920. • McAllen Nature Center (4101 W. Veterans Honored at Veterans War Memorial of Texas
By Herb Moering While the cold drizzle and windy conditions on Saturday, Nov. 10, led to moving McAllen’s Veteran’s Day program inside for the first time, featured speaker State Sen. Juan “Chuy” Hinojosa would not have minded being at the memorial site, recalling the often-wet climate of Vietnam, where he served and where he lost three buddies. The annual Veterans Day remembrance is normally held at the Veterans War Memorial of Texas nearby in McAllen. A large audience of mainly veterans and family members came for the program held in the lobby of the McAllen Performing Art Center and heard Hinojosa remind listeners of the sacrifices made by young men and women to insure freedom and the nation’s
values. He noted there are individuals and countries that want to destroy this nation. He said those who have served in the armed forces come from many backgrounds but have learned to work together. “We are all Americans,” Hinojosa said. “That’s what makes our nation so great.” He said service personnel “become like family” and it’s important that those who return from service be welcomed home and into the family, especially if wounded physically or emotionally. “To serve is an honor,” he added. “We love country and families.” Among those listening to the comments was Ricardo Chapa, of McAllen, who sustained a leg wound while in the front lines See VETERANS pg. 18

For breakfast or lunch, Le Peep is the place to eat!
Whether you want a breakfast hearty enough for a lumberjack, or for some a little more elegant, is the place to go. For starters, my favorite is the signature gooey bun, an English muffin topped with brown sugar and toasted with crunchy almonds on top. It is served with a side of cream cheese and some of Mom’s “Sassy” apples and it is a meal in itself for the lighter appetite. For an elegant entree, try the Crab Cake Benedict. It consists of a crunchy crab cake with eggs and Hollandaise sauce on top. It is also available with salmon or florentine with spinach. Delicious! My photographer chose the wanderer’s skillet, a dish made with crispy peasant potatoes covered with tomato, onion, crispy bacon and cheese with two large eggs on top. He said it was delicious and was

a great melting of all flavors together. We were also served a plate of their best-selling banana walnut pancakes. Seeing how much food we had to sample, I called Hollowleg, my grandson who is a human-eating machine. He was on his way to UTRGV but gladly stopped by for a second breakfast before class. He sampled all of plates and agreed with the photographer that the Wander’s Skillet had a great flavor was his favorite. However, he also liked the Crab Benedict and ate a fair share of it along with the banana pancakes. Hollowleg only had a tiny taste of the gooey bun because I had almost demolished it, but he said it was also delicious. Other breakfast offerings included Belgian waffles covered with strawberries. They also offer and a variety of omelets. You just can’t go wrong at Le Peep and you’re always in for a real treat – just the way we want our dining out experience to be. Delightful! In addition to great breakfasts, Le Peep also serves salads, pasta and sandwiches at lunch. Grilled Breakfast & Lunch panini’s are also on the menu. NOVEMBER 14, 2018 VETERANS
From pg. 15 during the Korean conflict and spent a year in a hospital. He had joined the U.S. Army initially and then transferred to the Army National Guard before volunteering for active duty when the Korean police action broke out in the early 1950s. He made corporal in all three phases of service, coming out a “buck” sergeant when his service was over. Chapa, who is a retired employee of the McAllen Independent School District, has been a member of the veteran’s war memorial committee since 1995 and has worked on programs involving inscribed paver bricks purchased for the walks and the wall panels. He was accompanied to the program by his daughter, Patricia, who came down from Austin. She expressed how she wanted to honor the veterans, especially her dad.

WINTER TEXAN TIMES www.wttrgv.com
The hour-long program, that included a welcome by McAllen Mayor Jim Darling and long-time backer of the memorial, was marked by special recognition of World War II veterans in the audience. Those from other conflicts also were asked to stand to be recognized. While there are no more World War I veterans still living, this year marked the 100th year since the armistice was declared in the 11th hour, on the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918. To commemorate the centennial, re-enactors John Phillips, of McAllen came dressed as a WW I soldier with rank of corporal, and Hsin Chiang, a Harlingen teacher, was dressed as a WW I private. Phillips mainly re-enacts as a WW II soldier and has a number of military vehicles of that period. Chiang is new to the doughboy role this year. The program closed with the traditional sounding of “Taps,” by bugler Rich Estrada, a U.S. Border Patrol officer.
Retired Col. Frank Plummer, the driving force behind establishment of the war memorial, explained the “show and tell” purpose with the wall panels for an accurate history in remembering “the 1.3 million military American men and women who lost their lives in gaining and defending freedom in all the wars and conflicts of this nation.” As part of that plan are 18 granite panels that will be inscribed with history stories written by school children. There are currently 300 panels of history, intended to pass on from one generation to the next. Col. Plummer suggested it may be difficult to recognize this country in the future, but “this will be our history for years to come.” Among those stories to be included are the essays written and read during the program by authors Jacob Patino, a Fossum Middle School 6th grader, and Eulalio Mendez V, a Lyford Elementary School 3rd grader.

Weslaco Museum showcases history and culture of city
According to Sara Walker, executive director of the Weslaco Museum, located at 500 S. Texas Blvd., the museum is dedicated to showcasing the history and culture of Weslaco. Divided into two sections, one half is dedicated to the history of the city while the other showcases the culture. The historic section starts with a display of gems and fossils found in the area. There is also display of arrowheads and prehistoric tools used by the indigenous people who lived there prior to the coming of the Spanish colonizers. A small area dedicated to Spanish colonization displays a two-wheeled ox cart similar the ones used by the settlers who moved north from Mexico. Clothing similar to what would have been worn and objects that would have been used for cooking and farming the land are on display. For years the land was in conflict. After Texas declared its independence from Mexico, the land between the Nueces River and the Rio Grande River was kind of a no man’s land with both side claiming it but neither side making an effort to settle it. Walker pointed out a small display about the Republic of the Rio Grande, that she said was an attempt to make the area its own independent country. A man named Antonio Canales declared the land between the two rivers from the gulf to north of Laredo to be independent from Texas or Mexico. The government existed from January to November of 1940 with Laredo as the capital before the Mexican government put a stop to it. The impact of Juan Cortina is also examined at the museum. Cortina was a Mexican bandit who raided the ranches in the U.S. north of the Rio Grande. There is a display on Camp Llano Grande, located south of Weslaco along the Rio Grande. At one time there were 7,000 American soldiers camped there, in an attempt to capture bandits like Cortina and Pancho Villa. Once the bandit threat subsided, it was time for American colonization. The offer of cheap fertile farm land brought many Midwesterner’s down on excursion trains to look at the area. The land where Weslaco is located belonged to the W.E. Stewart Land Company. Weslaco gets its name from the initials, W and E, the S in Stewart, and the first to letters of land and company. There were vegetable farms but the main crops in the area were citrus and cotton. Because of the Valley’s vast citrus production, Weslaco became the home of the Texsun canning plant, once the world’s largest juice canning plant. It produced orange juice, grapefruit juice and tomato juice that was shipped all over the world. As result of its agricultural success, the Texas Agriculture Extension Service chose Weslaco as their site in the Rio Grande Valley. For many years there
was a Weslaco Style Show that featured costumes made from Valley fruits and vegetables. A dress made of corn cobs is currently on display. Other exhibits on the historic side include items from the early days of the Weslaco Independent School District. The story of medical treatment from the early years when doctors made house calls, to the first clinics that opened and the first hospital is told at the museum. A military exhibit honors residents who served in the armed forces. Notables such as Rear Admiral Epi Elizondo and Air Force Major General Walter “Buzz” Baxter, both natives of Weslaco are honored for their accomplishments. Best known was Harlon Block, a Weslaco native who was pictured in the Pulitzer Prize winning photo of soldiers raising the flag on Iwo Jima during World War II. On the cultural side of the museum, exhibits change monthly as different artists are honored. In October, Andy Villarreal of San Antonio had paintings on display along with a large 3-D altar for Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). The Valley landscapes of artist Joe Hernandez will be featured in November. December will feature the poetry of Weslaco native Octavio Quintanilla, who is the current poet laureate of San Antonio. On November 23 at 10 a.m., the Christmas season will kick off with a reception.
The Weslaco Museum is open from Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $4 for adults and $3 for seniors age 55 and over. Private tours are available for
groups of five or more at $2 per person. Stop by and learn some of the interesting history of Weslaco. For more information about the museum or to schedule a group tour, call (956) 968-9142.
