iltshire resident, Gemma Perry aka The Holiday Family Fixer, is part of the award winning travel agency The Honeymoon and Holiday Fixer, and despite all the recent setbacks to holidaying abroad this year, has recently launched her new website. Travel has always been central to Gemma’s life, so when the opportunity arose to run her own business doing something she was passionate about, she decided to leave her 15 year career working in international relocation. Having relocated numerous families and individuals to countries around the world Gemma felt confident she could transpose her knowledge and skills to arranging bespoke holidays. As a wife and mother of two young girls, Gemma has had plenty of experience of travelling as a family, which is why she decided to specialise in family holidays. The business was launched in November 2019 and got off to a great start with lots of people booking holidays. But then COVID 19 struck! Gemma says, “My first reaction to this was one of shock. My poor clients whose dream holidays that they had worked for so long to save for, on hold… I worked very hard to ensure I secured either full refunds or moved their bookings to later this year. This is a true testament to the network of suppliers I work with who have supported us in ensuring our clients are properly looked after.

Since the start of COVID business has been very slow, with limited periods for travel and A LOT of uncertainty. So, I’ve done what any passionate business owner would do, I’ve made the most of my time. In between home schooling my now 6 year old, keeping my 3 year old entertained, making several meals and snacks a day, I’ve used any spare time to explore more about the industry and how I can better myself and the service I give my clients.” Gemma is convinced that travel will resume later this year. Her main advice is to use a reputable agent to ensure you have an experienced person with up-to-date information helping you. Be wary of booking anything independently, but if you do, always read the terms
