The Tap In

For about a year-and-a-half now, the Centennial Committee has been working on plans for a year-long celebration in 2024, when the Club turns 100. Preliminary plans include five events themed around the centennial, with one special big Birthday Bash in July, the Club’s birth month.

We will kickoff the year-long festivities in January with a cocktail reception. We hope to make this a Roaring Twenties themed party, and feature as much memorbilia we can collect.

This is where you come in. Do you (or your family) have old photos of the Club? Trophies?

Newspaper clippings? We want to display as much as we can in the Clubhouse foyer display case all year. If you have items you could donate to be displayed, please bring them to the main office at the Club.

In May, we want to bring back a special reappearance of a member-favorite event — the Spring Fling. Members who were here in 2013 and before will remember how fun this event was (it actually predates my employment here, so I’ll take your word for it!).

July is the big Birthday month, and we are planning a family friendly party. We hope to make this party fun for kids of all ages and really make it something members will talk about for years to come.

In September, we will rebrand the 2024 Vocker Cup into a centennial golf tournament. Plans include an impressive dinner that all members — not just tournament players — can attend. We also want to tie in a tennis championship as well, but we need help from tennis experts! If you’re interested in helping with this, please let me know!

December’s Grande finale centennial event will be a Christmas dinner dance celebration.

Throughout the year, we hope to bring members special memorabilia for purchase, fund a Club improvement future generations will enjoy and so much more.

If you haven’t had the chance yet, be sure to have dinner at the Club on Friday nights. The history of the Club is printed on the menus, but only for the Friday-night dinners. The Centennial Committee will meet Aug 15 at 4pm. Join us!
