IIbeganspinningabouttwoandahalfyears ago, when I finally caved to the influence of my best friend, who is a knitter, and it was actually my first fiber art! I have now learned toknit, weave, andcrochet Now,asasecond year veterinary student, I spin to stay sane! The decision to begin selling my yarn came from two main motivations: To make a little money to buy more fiber and because I was making so much yarn that our little apartment was overflowing! Yarns from Vet Schoolwasofficiallyestablishedin2023
To help inspire the next generation of fiber artists! I recently came into ownership of severalantiquespinningwheels.Throughmy journey of learning about the wheels and figuring out the logistics of transporting and storing them, I came into contact with a portion of the fiber arts community that is particularly invested in the preservation of antique tools like these wheels. I quickly learned that the very wheels I had purchased had sparked a discussion when theywerefirstlistedforsale!Therewasalot of concern about the fate of the cherished collections of many artists, due to a lack of enthusiasm and knowledge in the rising generation It brought me so much joy to be abletosharethatthewheelshadcometoa spinner, and that I would do my best to ensure that they went to homes where they wouldbelovedandused!
The first person would be my best friend, Whitney. As I mentioned above, she was my first true introduction to the fiber arts world. Then, when I finally picked up my first drop spindle, shewasrightthere, learningwithme! The second person is Jean, from Marie Feather Fiber Crafts! What started out as a casual exchange about a custom blend has turned into the most wonderful friendship and business partner I could ask for! Without her support and encouragement, there is no way my business would be where it is today. We push each other to try new things and lovetobounceideasoffofeachother!
Yes! I love silk blends, especially BFL/silk and, mynewestlove,Shetland/Silk!
Onlyifyoucountdogsthatshed!Alot!
My best friend and I first learned to spin on drop spindles by watching tutorials on YouTube. Then, a few months later, I took a beginningspinnersclassatHeindselman'sin Provo, UT (the oldest yarn shop in the US)! Having someone there to give me such personalized and expert feedback made all thedifference.
WHATMAKESWAFASPECIAL FORYOU?
Definitely the community! I love having a place to ask questions, share my achievements, and see the beautiful things everyoneelsecreates!

Wool and Fiber Arts Book Club Update!
Book: Women’s Work the first 20,000 years
Host: Jocyln Warren
March 25 8pm Zoom Meeting
Women's Work: The First 20,000 Years by Elizabeth Wayland Barber explores the oftenoverlooked role of women in textile production throughout history. Combining archaeology, anthropology, and historical records, Barber reveals how spinning, weaving, and fabric-making shaped economies, societies, and even technological advancements. This book uncovers the ingenuity and labor of women across centuries, challenging the notion that their work was secondary.
If you're curious about how textiles influenced trade, status, and daily life and want to see how women's contributions have been woven into history this book is a fascinating read!
