HOWDIDYOURBUSINESS GETSTARTED?

In 1999, we purchased our first two sheep. Withinafewyearswewerehavingourfirstof many lambs. As our flock grew so did the need to share the fiber with other enthusists. Morefibershowswerestartingtoopenup,so becoming a vendor was the next step. Eventually, selling on line became more prominent and we had a broader spectrum toshareourfiberwith.

WASTHERESOMEONEWHO INSPIREDYOUINYOURFIBER ARTSJOURNEY?

Actually my grandmother inspired me to do anything with crafts My mother, though not actually doing any, encouraged me to see where my animals would take m timeandmanylambs, shewasa forme.

WHATISYOURBUSINESS'S GOAL?

I want to be able to provide luxury and unique fibers to people in all situations, and with that, promote rare breeds of animals and advocate for homegrown and sustainablefiberandothergoods Mygoalis to provide our animals with the best of treatment and process their gift of fiber with theutmostcare.

WHY ROMNEY MIGHT BE THE PERFECT BREED

Romneys are an excellent choice for many beginning shepherds They are truly a perfect dual breed choice as their carcass provides a mild meat with a typical yield of 51%. They generally grade as prime or choice quality

On the wool end of things, the clean yield averages at 70% of the total weight of the fleece. The typical Romney fleece weighs in over 10 pounds per adult ewe and up to 20+ pounds per year from a healthy ram

Their long wool is also a perfect choice for beginning spinners They also come in both white and natural colors ranging from dark black to moorit

Romneys are also known for their gentle demeanor, which makes them a great choice for learning to handle sheep and for families who are new to shepherding.

Romneys have strong hooves making them the perfect choice for wet properties They require less hoof trimming as a result and have less susceptibility to hoof scald and hoof rot problems

So many reasons so many shepherds find Romney to be the perfect breed
