Vendor Interview with Jenna of Fiber Gnome
GlenAllen,VAWhat is your business's goal/mission?
At FiberGnome, our mission is to educate and inspire yarn-loving crafters through beautifully crafted, unique project bags and well-written knitting patterns. We are dedicated to fostering creativity and enhancing the yarn-crafting experience by providing high-quality, distinctive storage solutions that combine functionality with aesthetic appeal. Guided by our values of excellence, innovation, and community, we strive to create a nurturing environment where creativity thrives, and crafters are empowered to explore their artistic potential.
How did you learn your craft?
Decades of trial and error! With some instruction by crafting greats, such as Sally Melville, Lily Chin and Pamela Leggett.
Was there someone who inspired you in your fiber arts journey?
With regard to sewing, my mother was an avid sewist - having started at the age of 12. It wasn't so much that she taught me to sew, but I did learn so much by observing her process.
What makes WAFA special for you?
The Wool and Fiber Arts Community is more than just an online fiber festival; it is a thriving, supportive space where fiber lovers can connect, learn, and find high-quality products. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in the fiber arts. As a small business owner, I’ve felt nothing but welcome, and really appreciate the people I have met through this community.
Is there anything else you'd like to tell us about your business?
There is something so soul-satisfying about fiber arts, and with a desire to spread this joy FiberGnome designs knitwear, teaches all levels and techniques in knitting and makes one-of-a-kind bags. Often, you will find Jenna in her craftroom buried in a mound of fabric making her signature bags, and the only way to find her is to follow the peals of joy.

Hello from Leaf Livestock Wool Co, a lamb and wool farm, located in Northwest Illinois. We raise beautiful Natural Colored Columbia /Rambouillet sheep, Polypays, Merinos, Columbias and now Targhees. I would love for everyone to enjoy the finest spinning fiber and yarn that I am privileged to grow and use for creating. The physical and emotional rewards that accompany raising sustainable lovely wool go far beyond the beauty of the final product! https://www.leaflivestock.com/
BOOK Club
Wool and Fiber Arts is excited to announce our new book club! Interested members will gather on Zoom monthly to discuss a book related to fiber arts lead by a WAFA vendor or member of the WAFA community.
The inaugural book is The Lost Flock: Rare wool, wild isles, and one woman journey to save Scotland’s original sheep by Jane Cooper. The work relates Jane’s own experience with Boreray sheep in the Orkneys islands along with their history.
Look for the event in the Wool and Fiber Arts Community group on Facebook scheduled for June 9 at 4 pm ET. You can look for the book at your local library, your normal e-book provider, as an audiobook, or wherever you acquire your books. We would like those participating to havecompleted the book before the discussion. June 9th, 4pm eastern
