MOLLY GOSE-BUSBY
of Wine and Wooly Design
Molly vends as an Indie dyer with WAFA. She has been knitting for 15 years, farming for 8 and dyeing for 5.
WHAT IS YOUR BUSINESS GOAL
My goal is to provide product which is unique, sustainable and from field to finished product
WAS THERE SOMEONE WHO INSPIRED YOU IN YOUR FIBER ARTS JOURNEY?
Was there someone who Inspired you
In your fiber arts journey?
My Mom. She tried to teach me to knit when I was a teenager She is no longer here and I really wished I had listened. I believe she is proud of how far I have come
HOW DID YOU LEARN YOUR CRAFT?
First trial and error, my sister and (thank GOD) youtube
“I love to spread the passion for the fiber arts. I am dedicated to furthering our crafts for future generations!”
DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE FIBER?
I LOVE LOVE LOVE alpaca It has no Lanolin (I am allergic) which means I can handle and process the fiber with out issue. Plus I have 3 of the fuzzy butts in my pasture.
WHAT FIBER ANIMALS DO YOU HAVE? DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE?
I have 3 alpacas and yes I have a favorite (Maxi) I also have 4 rescue goats and a bunch of stupid chickens. Plus two dogs and 1 husband who supports me through it all!
“WAFA is such a safe place. It has helped me grow and challenge myself as a dyer, knitter and pattern writer. It has given me friendships with people all over the world! I have had product go to Taiwan.”
My husband and I started Windsor Farms Rabbitry and Yarns in the 1980’s in Windsor, Maine. In 1998 we moved the whole family and all our critters from coast to coast and landed in Oregon.
First came spinning, then knitting, dyeing, blending with other fibers, making yarns for sale, and having finished goods ready to wear. I enjoy the fact that I can wear an angora hat and scarf to the barn and the animal that produced the fiber to make them is jumping around wanting to be fed.
Saturday at 1:30 pm eastern
Susans Fiber
I travel around the US teaching classes on spinning, preparing fibers for spinning. I also delved into felting and heading up the midwest felting symposium. Now I work with spinners. Weavers, felters and more getting there techniques perfected with my weekly vertuals.
