People define an icon in several ways. However, Webster’s Dictionary describes it this way: “a person or thing widely admired, especially for having great influence or significance in a particular sphere.”
WBM’s goal is to present a series of iconic stories touching you in ways you can relate to. After reading this issue, we will inform you, inspire you and introduce you to influencers, brands, and businesses that will earn a place in your life as you plan one of the most treasured moments - your wedding.
Every brand in this issue has a vested interest in seeing you happy, healthy and seeing your families prosper. We have endured much, and there remain so many uncertainties. However, we are committed to seeing everyone through it, doing so joyfully.
I diligently selected a team of industry giants and young tastemakers that will disrupt norms in the industry and etch their names in stone. Our cover story highlights Syrian couture designer Rami Al Ali who has made a permanent impression in Paris and the Middle East with his gift for design.
I chose Cleo Sullivan to capture WBM’s Real Bride Real Beauty contestone of the magazine's most exciting productions during its developmental process. This year, we chose to celebrate someone I love dearly –who impacted my career in the fashion industry, the late, great Peter Lindbergh - renowned German Fashion Photographer. One of my favorite shots is the breathtaking portrait of the industry’s “iconic” supermodels. I wanted to celebrate his life work by recreating this portrait featuring six brides-to-be. While simultaneously celebrating their nuptials and their unique beauty. It was the concerted effort of stylists, designers, and jewelers to unveil the vision at the beautiful Manhattan Manor.
Our men’s story celebrates the life of the late Virgil Abloh and his contribution to the fashion industry – Assouline immortalized him for us in a refined coffee table book. We expressed a rendition of his style with our “Pour Homme – Elopement Story” shot at the iconic Intercontinental Barclay Hotel in the center of Manhattan’s Tudor City Steakhouse.
The WBM family, our dedicated sponsors, and advertisers encourage you to create “iconic moments.” Say ‘yes’ to the ring, say ‘I do’ at the altar, and live your best life with the people you love. Create extraordinary moments.
With thanks,

What is it about a wedding dress?
LUXURY BUSINESS
EMPORIUM
BY ELIZABETH SOLARU
Elizabeth is where the experts go when they need advice, so if you need to know your event is going to go off without a hitch, you should be contacting Elizabeth. Don't just take our word for it, here are some testimonials from global wedding industry leaders.
Elizabeth is astute at finding solutions to problems in a strategic and methodical manner. She is adept at reading between the lines to get right to the root of a task and what is utterly wonderful, and quite rare, is that she truly understands luxury craftsmanship. Having worked at the highest level within her industry Elizabeth interprets these skills in an inspiring and creative fashion. After many years honing her craft she has acquired a fountain of knowledge and experience and imparts that knowledge in an enthusiastic, fun, interesting and supportive fashion.
As the six beautiful ladies stood proudly under the crystal chandeliers of Manhattan Manor’s Skyroom— all different sizes, shapes, and ethnicities, it struck me how magical a wedding gown can be. Cleo Sullivan photographed the ladies for our yearly Real Brides Real Beauty issue. Each woman was unique in personality, body type, and profession. But what they had in common was their upcoming journey and the transformative power of their dress. Maybe it’s the implied significance of a wedding gown or the grandeur of wearing a long white frock. No matter the case, the women displayed preparedness as if they were practicing for the main event—their wedding day.
I watched as they took on the persona of their dresses — sassy, demure, angelic, proud, or sophisticated. Fashion helps you go beyond your perceived limits—this was clear from watching the transformation on-set.
In this issue, we also celebrate the Syrian Haute Couture Designer Rami Al Ali, whose design features our front cover. His breathtaking, elaborately beaded, and embroidered creations are a feast for the eyes. Stephanie Blake interviews him and gets the scoop.
I came over from Vienna for a 2 day one to one business consultation with Elizabeth and it was one of the best business decisions I ever made. Despite stiff opposition in my industry, she showed me how to build and grow my luxury brand and now I am one of the top cake makers in Vienna.
Each of the girls had a hair and makeup team who spent hours creating their glam looks with an eye for individuality—hair was sculpted, curled, and sometimes left au natural. Makeup was applied with a modern flair and with incredible skill by our team of creatives and overseen by renowned Beauty Director Tasha Turner. As the fashion director, I dressed each of them in a look they may not have chosen for themselves, but they all took it in stride. Hopefully, this practice run sparked each of them to find their bridal voice — to brush away social media feeds and connect with a unique and deeply personal look for their wedding.
We still remember the grooms. Carlton Jones, fashion designer and top stylist, took a few male models on a tour of New York dressed to the nines in impeccably tailored suiting. These outfits are investment pieces that will stay in your wardrobe for years. Carlton always adds distinctive styling touches, so check it out.
Our goal with this issue is to inspire and empower brides and grooms to reach their fullest potential for their weddings and beyond. Every couple has their story to tell and hardships to overcome, but somehow the wedding is a day to celebrate the triumph that love conquers all.
Enjoy! Amour!
x

WHERE & HOW DID YOU BOTH MEET?
Our modern love story began on the Bumble dating app in New York City, as we were swiping through endless profiles in hopes of finding the special someone to spend the rest of our lives with. With one right swipe, boom, the algorithm brought us together.
After our first date in a West Village cocktail bar, we realized we had much more in common than our dating profiles suggested. Despite being from completely different parts of the world, our international upbringing and shared experiences of living in cultures other than our own, instantly created a connection between us.
Suzy was born in Taiwan, and followed the whims of her entrepreneurial parents to the Philippines, before she landed in America for college. Juan was born in Peru, and with his family, moved to Texas during his formative years, and later to Venezuela for high school. Both Suzy and Juan moved to New York City after college to pursue their careers in Television (Suzy) and Finance (Juan). They now consider themselves New York locals and call SoHo home, while still trotting the globe every chance they get.
WHERE DID YOU GET MARRIED AND WHY DID YOU PICK THE LOCATION?
We got married in Lake Como, Italy. We had always envisioned an international destination wedding, to share our passion for traveling and love for cultures with our family and closest friends. The world was our oyster!
We chose Italy because geographically, it was central for our guests traveling from all over Asia, the Americas, and Europe. Italy is also rich in art, music, history, and certainly cuisine. Who doesn’t love homemade pasta and fabulous vino?! We landed on Lake Como because of its romantic scenery and picturesque views set against the dramatic foothills of the Alps, which made for the perfect wedding setting. (And we secretly hoped for a wedding as beautiful as John Legend and Chrissy Teigen’s Lake Como wedding.)
The moment we visited Villa Erba, we were overcome by emotion and knew the search for our romantic, idyllic wedding venue had come to an end. Villa Erba is an Italian jewel. Nestled on the shores of Lake Como alongside George Clooney’s L’Oleandra mansion, Villa Erba is arguably the most iconic and beautiful estate on the lake. Built upon a 15th century monastery, the historic venue has hosted some of the most exclusive events in the world, and more recently, served as backdrop to Hollywood films like Ocean’s Twelve.
WHAT WAS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO YOU BOTH WHEN PLANNING YOUR WEDDING?
The most important thing for us was to have a shared vision for our Big Day, and to work together towards it. After the initial thrill of our engagement, we took time to reflect on what was important to us - what our values and priorities were for the wedding day, and the memories we hoped to create for our family and friends in celebrating our love for each other.
Then the planning started — and it was that much more fun to do it together. Working toward a common goal helped us grow as an engaged couple, and reinforced that whatever issue came our way, we could tackle as a team. What does love mean to you?
Love is the deepest feeling of affection, commitment, respect, and trust. It is having your forever companion and best friend to walk through life’s journey with. Love is patience, love is self-sacrifice and love is acceptance of each other’s shortcomings. To love and to be loved is the greatest feeling you can ever feel.

WHAT DOES FAMILY MEAN TO YOU?
Family is unconditional love. Family is what holds us together and guides us through the wonderful journey of life. Being a family means sharing that special connection with each other, the security and bond to celebrate life’s moments together, to grieve together, and to grow together.
WHAT TIPS WOULD YOU GIVE TO A COUPLE PLANNING THEIR WEDDING?
Cherish every moment of the journey! All the venue tours, vendor meetings, dress fittings, mood boarding, and cake tastings – is half the fun. This is the most magical time for you and your fiancé to explore your creativity, share in self-discovery, and work together on bringing your vision of your Big Day to life. You’ll miss it when it’s over. We sure did!
On the wedding day, find a moment and a quiet place during your reception, just you and your partner, to take it all in. The day goes by too quickly.

WHERE DID YOU MEET?
We met on Tinder — his first message to me was, “you create beauty for a living, how enigmatic”
I’ve always been an artist; my mother nurtured a love for the arts from the time I was very young. My medium of focus for years was wire and ceramic sculpture, it evolved with the encouragement of a friend, pushing me to go out a buy flowers and show her what I made.
It was the beginning of it all and It’s fitting, my great grandma owned a flower shop. I grew up in awe of my Mothers decedent wedding flowers, created by my Grandmother.
WHAT ARE SOME TIPS YOU CAN GIVE TO COUPLES PLANNING THEIR WEDDING AND SELECTING THEIR VENDORS?
Focus on finding vendors whose style AND personality you love. You work together closely for sometimes over a year, both are equally important.
WHAT IS THE AVERAGE COST OF HIRING A FLORIST FOR A MAJOR EVENT SUCH AS ONES WEDDING?
For a full-service wedding, with ceremony installations, personals flowers, and reception, you can expect to spend anywhere from 7k up with the average being 12-15k. If you do less, the price decreases, if want it dripping in flowers, it’s going to be more.

Complete Engagement Ring Guide
BY SARA QUIRICONI
The temperatures are cooler, the festivities are gearing up, presents being wrapped and perhaps a scent of cinnamon and holiday cheer are in the air. The holiday season is the busiest season for marriage proposals, with December having the highest proposal rate taking the (wedding) cake at 19%.
As you’re planning for your own proposal, here’s a quick and thorough guide to selecting the perfect engagement ring to pop the question with a celebrated piece that will last an eternity of love and wonderment.
WHAT TO SPEND
While I am one to believe in investing in a piece that the beholder will cherish for a lifetime, I also believe in not breaking the bank just to pick the biggest rock on the block. Remember, the ring itself is a token of love, not the actual love itself. A personal financing tip: spend what you have without putting yourself into debt, and before getting married, have in depth conversations about finances prior. This will help you both have an equal understanding of money, expenses, your personal financial status, debts, and spending habits prior to tying the knot.
HOW TO SHOP FOR ONE
In addition to price, there are quite a few factors that determine how you’ll shop for a ring and what you’ll be looking for.
Here’s a list of questions to help you started:
1. Order online, or head to a store?
2. Go with a name brand store, or a certified jeweler?
3. What kind of stone are you seeking: diamond, gemstone, or simply a band?
4. What kind of metal: gold, rose, or white gold, platinum?
5. What shape of stone are you seeking: (round, princess, cushion, oval, emerald, pear, marquise?
6. What “Four C’s” of a diamond stone are you looking for: cut, color, clarity, carat weight?
* if seeking to have external link on details, reference: https://www.borsheims. com/blog/choosing-perfect-engagement-ring/
3.
MAKING THE PURCHASE
Being married twice, there’s a thing or two I’ve learned being on the receiving side of a ring to add as a bonus.
Ensure the ring you’re purchasing also fits the lifestyle of your bride to be. If the bride is constantly using her hands and having a huge, princess cut with a prong setting and sharp edges will just have her taking the ring off, then it’s not super functional for her lifestyle.
Get the ring from a certified jeweler that ensures it comes with a valid certificate.
Last but not least, ensure she either loves surprises, you know her taste to a tee or she’s given you some hints of exactly what she’d want. Rings lose their value almost instantly off the floor and it’d be a pricey return.
Cheers to the most wonderful time of the (engagement season) year!

JULIE LAMB
Engagements will undoubtedly increase with Valentine’s Day following the holiday season. It’s traditionally the groom — or whoever is askingto surprise the other with a diamond ring. But it’s an item you must live with for a long time, so it’s best to think long and hard about your ring style. After all, a ring is meant to be worn daily, not just for special occasions or to keep the safety deposit box warm. Stick with the classics — maybe with a twist but don’t choose something so different that you may not like it in 10 years. But diamonds are not the only gem that is forever. Emeralds, pearls, and sapphires are all within the realm of appropriate engagement rings. Any type of ring or gem is acceptable if given with love, but precious metals and gemstones have staying power. They become legacy items attached to stories and memories.
Your bridal look is another opportunity to invest in fine jewelry. Ellagem is a pearl jeweler started by Ella Gafter. She soon became known as the Queen of Pearls, and her daughter Talila joined the business. ”We all like to commemorate a momentous occasion, and fine jewelry is ideal for this. It serves that purpose repeatedly when gifted — typically from one generation to the next. Moreover, a classic piece of jewelry — unlike a wedding dress, can be worn for a lifetime,” states Talila.
Pearls have a luminosity and pair elegantly with a white wedding gown. Jennifer Lopez showed some pearl love when she got married this summer — she accented her Ralph Lauren dress with a single virgin pearl ring worn with a pearl drop earring. She opted for the classic adornment this time around—maybe this is for keeps.
Mikimoto is the ultimate purveyor of pearls and has been so for 120 years since founder Kokichi Mikimoto successfully created the world's first cultured pearls. They strive to have innovative collaborations like the one with Comme Des Garcons and keep the designs fresh. Their chic shop on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan is a luxury experience, and purchasing from Mikimoto is an investment that keeps on giving because the legendary name will always hold its value.
Rafka Koblence came to this country from Latvia 40 years ago to follow his jewelry-making dreams. He is known for mixing cutting-edge techniques with old-world methods to create heirlooms and bespoke pieces. His “I Do” collection includes engagement rings, wedding bands, and other adornments. We invited Rafka to bejewel our Real Brides on the photo shoot at Manhattan Manor. He beautified our Real Brides with his authentic diamond jewelry, which made for some happy ladies.
David Yurman’s artistry started over 40 years ago, and since that time, he has built an empire. He’s recently opened a shop in Paris and has included automatic watches, wedding and engagement pieces. Many of his designs recall his iconic rope detail, which sometimes is hidden in a piece's interior - like a secret.
Consummate innovator and conceptualist Julie Lamb has been creating jewelry for over seven years. She just launched “Built for Love,” — a wedding and engagement jewelry collection. Included are nine engagement rings inspired by New York City’s architecture and landmarks — The Chrysler Building, The Brooklyn Bridge, The Statue of Liberty, and where she got engaged — Rockefeller Center, which has a distinctly Art Deco vibe. Her studio is in Manhattan at 64 West 48 Street so peruse and try on her pieces if you are a New Yorker at heart or in actuality.
Tiffany & Co has a strong cultural reference point beyond its luxury items. Breakfast at Tiffany's remains a relevant movie known even by millennials and continues the allure of owning a Tiffany & Co piece. They built their reputation by creating exquisite jewelry, impeccable service, and exciting collaborations like Elsa Peretti. Although they are a global brand, its Fifth Ave flagship is an experience that even window-shopping tourists can’t resist. It’s as synonymous with New York as the Brooklyn Bridge.

A jolting halt allows steel elevator doors to open to a sharp contrast of alluring light, unveiling what seemed like an enchanting cohort of angels soldered together, ready to share a divine message. That was my sincere experience entering the presentation for Milla Nova, a 20yr Ukrainian-based international bridal brand featured for New York Bridal Fashion Week. Steel elevator doors did open to a sharp contrast of alluring light, unveiling an enchanting cohort of, in fact, dazzling white gowns suspended all around a rustic New York City penthouse loft.
From the warm greeting given by staff and presenters to stories behind the names of each piece, down to the unpretentious display of a stunning collection, it felt like we experienced a transcendent journey that we must celebrate. Indeed we did! The world watched Ukraine invade and hold its ground to defend and protect its own. Many of us watched, prayed, and took action. Milla Nova’s founders, two Ukrainian sisters, Iryna and Zoryana Senyshyn, took their entire creative corporate body and developed protective gear for their militia. The collection I saw and felt reflected a bone-chilling history in the making. It was evident that the people who crafted these gowns lifted a needle to protect and save the life of another. The brand's CEO, Ulyana Kyrychuck, denotes the success and innovation of the brand to the team members and their dedication.
Milla Nova is undoubtedly a brand to celebrate for its contribution to supporting their troops, marking its 20th anniversary as a successful female-owned international bridal brand and launching Milla by Lorenzo Rossi Collection. It is one of its first high-end bridal collections, established in 2019, and the first Ukrainian bridal collection to debut in the U.S. at New York Bridal Fashion Week.
We saw a mix of dresses displayed from Milla Nova’s classic line while Milla by Lorenzo Rossi ushered in as young goddesses throughout the loft among press and buyers. The collective
28 gowns presented an elegant glamour for what the sisters described is for the “modern, sophisticated bride.” Romance and innocent allure were constant throughout the looks of each garment. Most of the fabric chosen transparencies were fleshcolored for various skin tones, while embellishments like lace appliques, pearls, and crystals covered delicate areas for modesty. Other materials rich in taste were heavily adorned lace, lush tulle, and fine silk satin, just to name a few. Perfectly captured silhouettes were sleek mermaids, shapely trumpets, and classic ballgowns in cocktail and floor-sweeping lengths. As I surveyed each dress, I appreciated the corsetted bodice, a detail as such that provides function and femininity to any attire. Each model sensuously showcased fine seam tailoring and the intention to focus on the most celebrated parts of a woman's body. There are gowns for any woman who wants to highlight her favorite part or cover it with a glamorous tiered tulle ruffled bolero.
The overarching message was well received. ‘Beauty for ashes’ is a profound exchange seen in Milla Nova’s brand history, and they have seeded a political and creative legacy we should honor. Any bride can display the strength, beauty, and femininity of all the women in your wedding party by making Milla Nova’s gowns your choice for your special day.
Although dramatic, my entry to the loft was symbolic of what had occurred during the Ukrainian invasion, and it is what we all pray to come for Ukraine.

The Atelier
WORDS BY STEPHANIE BLAKE
Atelier; the creative space where the artisan spirit dwells to produce a body of work that transforms lives. As a creator, this is how I define my space however it is the name of a small bridal salon established in 1986 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia servicing the needs of Asian women. The Atelier has expanded its vision with an international reach to women of all nationalities. The “pursuit of ultimate beauty” displayed in Haute Couture craftsmanship has been the ritual of the Atelier for decades.
The wedding dress “carries the dream of every girl, the desire for love” and, the anticipation of their future wedding is renowned designer, Jimmy Choo’s viewpoint; rightly fitting his partnership with The Atelier in 2017. Jimmy Choo, the now professor awarded an OBE, is widely recognized for his major contributions to his native culture, the fashion, and accessories industries. As Creative Director of The Atelier, he has secured a firm place for Malaysian talent within the international fashion week shows. The Atelier's feature in New York's Luxury Bridal Fashion Week is a continued endowment of avant-garde tailoring, impeccable details, and fine craftsmanship.
The Atelier featured a series of gowns seemingly inspired by an exotic arrangement of floral vinery and foliage design. As expected, fabrics were sophisticated ranging from the use of embellished and embroidered tools, delicately adorned lace, and an assortment of fine materials.
The classic fitted bodice and high-waisted voluminous skirts, popularly catered to the Asian woman's figure, were beautifully flattering on models of other nationalities. The use of corsetry and bodice seaming highlights the dramatic contrast of fit and flare. These details were tailored using an alluring sheer boning structure that exposed skin tone giving a sensuousness even a conservative bride would love to display. The most outstanding pieces were the more avant-garde designs that abstractly represented the shapes of flowers and their irregular form. This presented a more artistic and organic light on these garments. The color menu represented classic ivory, translucent fleshy rose, and luminescent gray colors while the use of black was shown in layers of flowing mesh. These colors ushered in a transition from bridal to evening wear. The model's display of The Atelier's presentation was accompanied by upbeat soulful music that created a celebratory ambiance fitting for nuptials.
The Atelier's experience in couture dressing affords them the right to style your next wedding event. A brand that first meets the needs of its own culture, becoming a platform to showcase its talents and elevating its aspirations of beauty, then services the world with the same vision, is worthy of consideration.
REAL BRIDES REAL BEAUTY
Finding the perfect bridal look starts with trying on a single dress. Our Real Brides, Real Beauty photoshoot allowed our six lovelies to test drive dresses they may not have considered for their wedding. The shoot day was a fabulous dress-up party for the upcoming brides. They tried on various 'personas' while being photographed under the crystal chandeliers of Manhattan Manor—a stunning grand ballroom located in the heart of Midtown Manhattan.
One of the retailers that allowed us to borrow dresses was Ivan Meza from The Sample Room NY— a discounted designer showroom. He distilled his simple philosophy; “A woman finds out what is flattering to her simply by trying on and seeing what looks good,” he states. “We recommend that a bride goes to several traditional bridal stores to try on different silhouettes and see what looks best— then come to us. We carry all the major brands at our salon at 19 West 21 Street in the Flatiron District of NYC.” It’s that simple.
We asked Mr. Meza when a bride needs to begin the dress hunt: “The Sample Room NY is more flexible than conventional bridal retailers where you need to allow one year before the wedding before getting the final dress. It can take up to six months for the dress to come in, and you may require two months of alterations. At The Sample Room NY, we sell dresses off the rack, and although we do not do alterations, we have independent seamstresses that work with us. We are very accustomed to accommodating rush situations and have even sold a bride a dress on Tuesday, had it altered— and the woman got married in City Hall on Friday! We try to make the process as easy as possible,” says Mr. Meza.
Designer Loft is located in the heart of the garment district and houses a plethora of brands, with sizes up to 24. Liz Sellassie, an owner of the boutique, flipped the industry on its ear with its rigid sample sizing. She pushed to have samples in sizes 10-12. “It’s important to have the brides try on the dress,” she says. When brides should start looking for their yes dress, Ms. Sellassie recommends a year in advance. “We have designers who deliver in 6 months, so it’s important to give yourself at least a year to start the process. Once the gown arrives, we need one to two months to complete the fittings, so it’s best to give yourself time.” Designer Loft’s dress prices start from $1600 and go up to $10,000, and they offer one on one service to make the experience as seamless as possible. They also have trunk shows at the boutique so that brides can see the full breadth of their favorite designers. You can find trunk show schedules on their website. Designer Loft 226 West 37th Street, 2nd Floor NYC
For designer Jude Jowilson it’s all about personalized service and fittings at his salon in the garment district. “I create my gowns with satin, silk faille, silk taffeta, silk wool, and Mikado fabrics, '' he says. “A bride ideally needs eight to twelve months before the wedding ( to start shopping for a dress), so there is time for alterations which will start three months prior to the big day.” When asked how brides should approach the dress hunt, he says, “Brides need to have an open mind. Instead of obsessing over what they pin on social media, they need to try on dresses in person to see what silhouette works on their body and what makes them feel wonderful. It’s important to have an open mind and have fun during the process,” he says.
The Photo Shoot Recap
WORDS BY MIMI LOMBARDO
There seems to be a trend here — the in-person reality is much preferred instead of social media FOMO. Jude’s gowns are exquisitely crafted to accentuate a woman's body, and he lets the luxurious fabrics sing by designing simple yet architectural silhouettes.
At Mark Ingram Atelier, brides will find white glove service from his staff and Mark himself. This jewel box of a shop offers many bigname designers and his eponymously named collection Bridal Couture by Mark Ingram. He’s super optimistic about the current state of weddings despite gloomy economic news. “The last two quarters have been powerful in gown shopping,” he says.
When asked what women are looking for, he states, “I think that brides no longer define themselves by the 'one' bridal look. The trend of wearing a minimum of 2 looks on the wedding day allows the bride complete fashion self-expression. My brides continue to strive for super sophisticated looks and those that project a fashion-forward vibe.”
Since beginning his business in 2002, he has found a change in attitude. “Brides know more about everything, and expectations are super high. The challenge is to meet those expectations with a high-level experience in all areas, from gown selection to alterations,” he says.
We hope our Real Beauty photoshoot inspires you to start your dress journey. Only you will know the one that sings to you as you look at your reflection, but you’ll have to kiss many frogs before you find the one for you.

Born and bred, British national Juliette Burrows came to Asia for the very first time two decades ago. She fell head over heels in love with the vibrancy, hospitality and lifestyle the region offered. If you'd had asked her if she would live on the sun-shiny shores of Koh Samui less than ten years later, she wouldn't have believed you. Yet here she is, running one of the island's most prestigious wedding planning firms. Juliette is the alchemist's answer to wedding planners and makes time to lie in a hammock.
With experience in the United Kingdom's exacting hospitality industry and two young children in tow, the beginning of Weddings on Samui unexpectedly and organically started with Juliette arranging a couple of close friends' weddings in Koh Samui. At the time, juggling two children and a full-time job just wasn't feasible, but as the children grew, so did Weddings on Samui. She's built some formidable relationships with her suppliers and continues to use them and work seamlessly together.
The island has seen a gradual influx of talented individuals move to the island, providing hairdressing and makeup services, photography, catering and wedding cakes. In 2012, Koh Samui had limited resources for décor, flowers, cakes, food and drinks. Collectively, wedding planners on the island searched and researched for reputable sources and suppliers, but in the end, various event companies purchased the necessary equipment for flawless weddings. They worked cohesively together and transformed Koh Samui into a breathtaking world-class wedding destination.
Weddings on Samui works with a well-curated collection of luxury villas on Koh Samui and the neighbouring islands of Koh Phangan and Phuket. Many villas boast sensational beachfront or mountain locations offering wedding couples Insta-worthy venues that their guests will never forget. Juliette has recently discovered some new villas in Natai, a breathtaking palm-fringed beach in Phuket. She's excited about arranging weddings in the California-meets-Hawaiivibed venues.
What makes a wedding so special in Thailand? The southernmost islands of Thailand are brimming with natural beauty. Wedding destinations are almost endless, with dense tropical jungles, cooling waterfalls, tropical flowers, almostguaranteed sunshine and perfectly white sandy beaches with swaying palm trees and awe-inspiring sunsets. Hanging out with your nearest and dearest is the best way to start your new life as a married couple. With empathetic ease, Juliette arranges every last detail for your wedding. She partners with travel agents that can assist with your international wedding destination plans and honeymoons. She provides each of her clients with an effortless one-stop shop.
International weddings can be daunting. Juliette and her esteemed team will help you plan every last detail and use their inimitable local knowledge to ensure a perfectly bespoke wedding. She ensures that the process from the initial enquiry to the magical 'I do', the wedding breakfast and after party is uncomplicated and fun. She'll hold your hand every step of the way. In the days leading up to the wedding, you might want a sand-in-your-toes beach party to welcome your guests or to cruise the Gulf of Thailand on a traditional Asian junk. Juliette can arrange a private tour at a local ethical elephant sanctuary, a rickety long-tail boat adventure to Koh Madsum, where you can meet the friendly drift of pigs, a picnic on the beach, or a party under the stars on a luxury catamaran.
Thailand retains its simplistic beauty whilst offering an array of elegant and contemporary wedding choices. The Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Phuket islands offer a unique collection of villas. Juliette will help you find your wedding party the ideal destination with awe-inspiring views, enviable facilities, and the best chefs Thailand offers. Verbalise your dreams, and she will make them come true. Whether the two of you plan to elope or you yearn for something lavish, your day will brim with love and laughter.

WHAT WAS YOUR GUIDING PATH TO BRIDAL?
“Our White line (which is our bridal ready-to-wear line) has been in the pipeline for a couple of years, but the period of the pandemic closure expedited it. Brides were looking for products off the shelf that were more affordable, practical but yet has the drama and aesthetic of our brand. Then the line continued to succeed and attract a wider client reach, especially in the US market. Then we moved it from annual to seasonal with a great focus on the US market.”
DESCRIBE HOW YOUR FAMILY/CULTURE PLAYS A ROLE IN YOUR DESIGNS.
“I come from a very rich heritage in crafts and artisanal skills, a region imported to the world the art of textiles and fabrics. I was exposed at a young age to the creative world through my father’s profession as an architect and a very elegant mother whom she paid a lot of attention to intricate details and refinement. All those elements played a major role in creating my creative character.”

“Our biggest challenge after the pandemic was the shortage of staff. Our team now handles a lot of all the brand development and line’s expansion, not to mention how difficult it is these days to scout talent.”

ELOPE IN NEW YORK CITY
Make no mistake, young people are getting married. They are finding love. They are simply not doing it the way their parents did it, with 200 plus people. They are no longer inviting random people for the sake of filling the room. They are intentional with whom they invite in their space. They want to create intentional experiences with their compadres. This may include eloping at the Intercontinental Barclay penthouse suite overlooking NYC or getting together at Tudor City Steakhouse with a few good friends for a little live music, dancing and great views.
The same holds true with their personal style and sense of fashion. Virgil Abloh expressed this when it came to both Louis Vuitton and Off White. Young people are masters of their own destinies and are willing to invest in quality goods- not trends. They’re aware of the options yet are committed to defining their sense of style no matter the occasion; even on their wedding day.

The Arsenal of
Well Groomed Man
WORDS BY JON MORRIS
WORDS BY MYRDITH LEON-MCCORMACK
Some men have always been modest about their accessories. They may have three major items that complete their look when it comes to jewelry –their wedding band, maybe a necklace that has some sort of sentimental value, and a watch. A watch for a man is not necessarily for telling time–but it is a statement piece. So for many men that invest in a timepiece, brand quality matters. So, we at WBM want to reintroduce you to a brand with a sustainable history in the watch-making industry, Tissot.
Tissot remains at the top of the watch-making industry in this digitized age. They remain attentive to the evolution of society and continue to be the leaders of innovation in the watchmaking industry.
Father and son duo Charles-Felicien & Charle-Emile Tissot founded Tissot in Le Locle, in the Swiss Jura Mountains. The town was essentially a watch-making destination
employing at least fifty percent of its population, leading them to create a watch school. Talk about giving back to your community, setting the stage for it to become a globally recognized brand even with the modernization of society throughout time.
While many Swiss makers were shutting down because of the arrival of electronic watches, Tissot continued. They evolved with the times working with The Swatch Group, the number watch manufacturer in the world, restoring Tissot to its rightful place as a forerunner–focusing on quality with an innovative design based on the Swiss watchmaking tradition making it the brand that sellsw the most watches in the world.
Therefore, as you young grooms look for your timepieces, we are sure you will appreciate this fine brand's diverse, classy, and sustainable history.
Like a man’s accessory or jewelry kit, his grooming kit is essential to him. There are some things a man must keep to give him a finished look that will make the room stop and stare.
It all begins with what he used to shower with. What he cleans and exfoliates his skin with is equally as important as brushing his teeth. The tools he uses to shave his face can either enhance his looks or damage them.
And suppose that gentleman is as precise as we know about his appearance and clothing. In that case, he will go the extra mile and take care of his nails by getting regular manicures or doing it himself, which means having a manicure kit.
These are some of the must-haves in his grooming kit:

ASSOULINE PRESENTS: LOUIS VUITTON Virgil Abloh
But like everything in life, if you want to survive and thrive, you must evolve with the times. It is crucial for the survival of any business. Virgil revived the brand to a new audience that may have necessarily not been attracted to the brand. It brought a youthful glow to the brand that made it accessible to a wide range of people. He made streetwear desirable to everyone of all backgrounds. He brought color to the brand both literally and figuratively and Assouline captured the evolution of the iconic brand in their pages dedicated to Virgil and his legacy. Vive Louis Vuitton and Virgil Abloh.
WBM’s men’s fashion was inspired by the coolness and mix of streetwear to allow our young readers the opportunity to create their own sense of style on their wedding day. Bring new life to their wardrobe and make it their own–the way Virgil did. Be comfortable with your own sense of style–mix the new with the classic. Live life in style.

Louis Vuitton Celebrates The Life & Legacy of Virgil Abloh
Virgil Abloh changed the face of Louis Vuitton from when I was first introduced to the brand some 45 years ago. I am sure if my parents saw it they would not have imagined it to be what they first knew the brand to be and aristocratic audience with no affiliation to street wear. Virgil Abloh broke the glass ceiling when he became the first second generation African American to be named lead designer in the history of the brand.

Holiday Gift Guide2022
BY VICTOR AMOS
This year’s gift guide is special. As a lifestyle editor at a bridal magazine, get the opportunity to try hundreds of products each year. Some established, some new. Some expensive, some cheap. While it’s tempting to give one’s attention to the big brands that have massive marketing budgets, really wanted to focus on making space for the new kid, right along with the heritage brands.
In that vein of thought, I’m kicking-off my recommendations with a brand I came to know about from one of my favorite fragrance boutiques, Nose Paris. In my opinion, oud is the best fragrance note on Earth. was scrolling the site when the name “Wild Carrot Oud,” along with the bright orange liquid filling the bottle, jumped off the page and screamed-out to me. had no choice but to surrender my credit card and blind-buy a sample, and my intuition did not fail me. The scent was unlike anything I’ve ever smelled. Nothing in my vast collection of ouds held the space this fragrance filled. knew I had to know more about Bohoboco.
cracked my laptop open and began to travel down a wormhole, researching the brand and its creative director to understand the ethos. The start-up brand has taken its shape from the poetic mind of Michael Gilbert Lach. His fashion roots are at the heart of the brand’s luxurious aesthetics, most notably the velvet tops on the crystal perfume bottles, an editorial touch that caught me by surprise.
Thankfully, the uniqueness does not end with the bottle. With olfactory mashups you wouldn’t expect, like Black Pepper Vanilla, and heart-stoppingly vibrant scent bombs, like Wild Cherry Liquor, Michael takes us on a beautiful journey of sentimentality and playfulness. This line is for everyone. Michael set out to make Bohoboco a brand for those who eschew the confines of gender, age, and orientation, instead leaning into the confidence that comes from feeling good and smelling great — and he’s succeeded.

Enhance Your Dining Experience
Beyond the wedding rehearsal dinners, bridal tea parties, and wedding receptions, family dinner nights at home deserve some rediscovery. This season is the most inspiring time to enhance the overall dining experience. My dinners involve my husband and our two 6-year-olds, Bella and Beau, who appreciate special time at our dinner table. Setting up the tablescape has been a ritual in my family and now share this experience with my children. I remember the seriousness put into each meticulous placement at my mother’s dining table. Although I appreciate the seriousness, in my household, dinners and their setup are intended for enjoyment. My choice of tableware is timeless, amusing, and striking.
I often see a strong textile influence when I enjoy the New York Table Top shows. It must be the creative part of me that colors my lenses. Taste, I believe is rooted in the iconic personality of an individual. Oftentimes in bridal, we think the gown is selected from trends or the stylist's recommendations, however innately a bride-to-be's decision-making is going to be governed by her inner taste and what truly delights her.
A classy modern bride would select Rosenthal’s T.A.C. Skin whose collection displays strong mid-century influence in silhouette and decor. The set is featured in fine white, slightly translucent porcelain delicately ornamented with gold and platinum accents throughout on chiseled geometric shapes. Genuinely an artful endeavor is inspired by The Architectural Collaborative Inc.; a creative initiative that combines research, sculpture, and ingenuity, started in 1937. Truly clean, minimal, and innovative in design brings fresh life and an artistic appreciation to your tablescape.

For a bold prodigious bride, let Versace’s iconic Christmas collections bring sensation and royalty to your table. Opulent in decor, these two vignettes unveil their own representation of the Versace idols. The Butterfly Garden is a whimsical and ornamental setting an enchanted mythical display. While Prestige is monochromatically overlaid with 24k gold filigree for a regal finish setting decadence over any special occasion dinner.
The price for Prestige ranges from $65 - $775 for a full dinner set. The butterfly collection is a 5pc set ranging from $125 - $525 and can be purchased on www.bergdorfgoodman.com.
All the while, Raynaud, a brand of my personal tableware aesthetic, with its organic shapes and intense colors, this collection of dinnerware promises to enliven. The latest Cristobal Emerald Green collection is bold and imaginative. Inspired by the deep sea, Coral branch shapes decorate porcelain pieces in 24-carat gold of rich hues for the unforgettable theatric bride. The pieces are handmade in France from Limoges porcelain. The price ranges from $65 - $1,565 and can be purchased at www.scullyandscully.com.
No matter the choice of tableware or the occasion, be iconic! Let the sincere you govern the decisions for most of the memorable moments in your and the life of your loved ones.

Setting the Standard: The Delmonico Way with Max Tucci
WORDS BY MYRDITH LEON-MCCORMACK
Max Tucci is an award-winning Author, Host, Producer, Director, and Entertaining enthusiast. Even with all those titles, he is the most approachable public figure, a celebrity you will want to be around and chit-chat over a delightful meal.
It’s amusing how Max responds to questions about his birthplace; “New Yorker, Born in the city that is so sublime they named it twice.” His ancestry is both Italian (from Firenze) and Lithuanian.
He humbly credits his artistic expression to a higher power. “For me, it's not what I chose per se; received it from the divine. My gifts are the art of communication, storytelling, and visual and creative expression- then there are the ones I still am discovering—all of which I am grateful for.
Gastronomy Of A Family
Max recalls fond moments with his beloved grandmother and her wonderful dishes. “Food, glorious food! Growing up, my Lithuanian grandmother always made her famous potato pancakes topped with caviar, and her blintz recipe was splendid. Growing up ‘Tucci’ means growing up at Delmonico’s and experiencing every dish served there. In my new cookbook, The Delmonico Way: Sublime Entertaining & Legendary Recipes from the Restaurant that Made New York! Published by Rizzoli New York—I share my stories of food, family, friends, iconic old New York, and glamorous old Hollywood. My grandfather, Oscar, created the legendary Wedge salad. As a child, my Zia Mary would always make me the simplest recipe- pastina with zucchini in a delicious chicken broth -easy, simple, and made with love. We would watch Turner Classic Movies that mention Delmonico’s, and after all these years, I still remember those bowls of soup served in Ginori and how a simple dish like pastina brought us together.”
The Delmonico Way, which call The Tucci Touch, is going the extra mile, heightening the experience and the energy to be sublime. Plan ahead, take your time and remember you are the creator of your reality. If you want glamour, bring the glamour. If you want joy, be the joy in the room.
Because you are creating new stories and memories, in the end, storytelling brings us all together. Just as beautiful as it is to write the stories, remember to share them with those you love. Be the inspiration and shine!
There you have it, create memorable moments the Delmonico Way–with style and class. So make sure you grab your copy of the fabulous book and gift it to a friend.
Cookin’ In Brooklyn
With
Velasquez
Kate Hines Velasquez has a terrific occupation, if do say so myself - health supportive culinary arts (aka, a person that cooks healthy food). We live in a society that has an overwhelming amount of fast food to offer you that is not necessarily great for you. But things are changing. met Kate at the book signing event with the amazing max tucci, and she was glowing. And when i asked her what she did, it all made sense. What you eat significantly impacts how you look and feel. So as WBM has promised, we will continue to provide you with more information for a healthier lifestyle; we wanted to introduce you to Kate, our chef, who's 'cookin’ in brooklyn.’
WHAT BROUGHT YOU TO THIS LINE OF WORK?
Like so many women, struggled to lose weight after the births of my two daughters. found conflicting advice everywhere looked, and the noise was maddening. I just wanted someone to tell me what to do to get the weight off and keep it off, so looked to experts in the field of health. worked with a functional nutritionist, studied functional medicine, and ultimately left my career in corporate interior design to pursue my passion for health supportive culinary arts. Culinary school and my internship afterward in fine dining helped me hone my skills and become an expert at putting healthy meals on the table quickly. Food is medicine, and my recipes are a reflection of that. My goal has always been to teach other busy people how to get in and out of the kitchen quickly while nourishing their bodies with the best possible ingredients.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS WAY TO EXPRESS YOURSELF AND YOUR ARTISTRY?
Food is my love language. It’s my vehicle to connect with others. It allows me to express to people how much they mean to me. Nourishing the bodies of those closest to me is what the joy of life is all about.
WHAT ARE SOME TIPS YOU CAN OFFER COUPLES WHEN IT COMES TO HEALTHY EATING?
1) Always make dinnertime a priority - it’s so easy to get hung up on a deadline, given the busy nature of everyone’s lives. Remember to put work aside and make time for meals with your family.
2) Cook at home - you know your family better than anyone. When you have the time to dine at home, make simple, nourishing meals that you can enjoy together. I’ve put a lot of fancy dinners on the table for my husband, but his favorite was and always will be a simple roasted chicken with a fresh salad on the side. Master a few simple dishes you know
your partner loves and try to cook at home for them at least once a week.
3) Fresh is best - eat food from the earth and gets to your plate with as few processes in between as possible. Shop local and buy organic when it makes sense. Incorporate as many plants as possible into your meals and source good quality proteins from farmers you trust.
4) Eat like your life depends on it - don’t know who coined the term, ‘you are what you eat,’ but there’s so much truth to it! The quality of food that goes into our bodies has a knockdown effect on everything we express, like our mood, cognitive health, radiance, and even level of fitness. So much of it ties back to the time and energy we put into our meals.
5) Think sustainably - avoid food waste at all costs. Didn’t finish your dinner at that fancy restaurant last night? Pack it up and take it home for lunch tomorrow. Was there a boatload of leftover canapés and cheese boards after the cocktail party you hosted? Pack it up and take it to a local food bank. For so many reasons, don’t throw food away.
WHAT ARE SOME GREAT TIPS FOR THE ART OF ENTERTAINMENT
WHEN CREATING A MENU? Think about your guests first. What kind of food do they like? Are they adventurous eaters? Curate the menu based on what you think will bring a smile to your guest's faces. Plan a menu based on what you know is achievable in the available time. And try to prep ahead, so your fabulous event appears as if it came together effortlessly. Last but not least, accept help! As hosts, we try and curate every detail when we entertain but read the room and let your guests assist your efforts if they want to lend a hand. Again, another significant bit of advice that will only make cooking a little more fun with some of our favorite people.

MELBA is a Peach
Chef Melba Wilson is considered the queen of soul food if you ask anyone that considers themselves a foodie. I can recall whenever I had any guests visiting from all walks of life, from around the world, they all wanted to visit Harlem, New York, one of the hotspots on their list would have to be Melba’s Soul Food Restaurant in New York City.
Food is one of the paramount ways to experience the Black culture. Food goes beyond sustenance to Black people, it is about the people cooking it, who they are cooking it for and the experiences around the dinner table. Every dish has a story, every bit of it is dipped with love and seasoned with pride by the person preparing your meal.
Melba’s restaurant became the Sunday home for everyone all over the city, the country, around the world to visit on Sundays. If you didn’t make a reservation and didn’t beat the church crowd from Harlmen, welp.. Try again next Sunday. Or maybe during the week you stand a better chance. Melba’s Restaurant is historical.
So after running into her this past summer at Miami Swim Week, knew I had to interview her for our holiday and engagement issue. What better issue than to talk to the queen of home cooking during the busiest time of the wedding industry when couples are going home to meet the family, popping the question and making plans to fall in love. Besides the amazing restaurants and eateries around the world and extending to outside of the US. Anyone that is a foodie will appreciate all she has instored for you which would include her cookbook and other ventures.
WBM is simply fascinated by this amazing entrepreneur that is fully immersed in everything culinary. When asked about her occupation I could not help but giggle at her response and I had to share it.
Occupation? “Dishwasher. Check signer. Hostess. Server. Restaurateur, Lover of All Things Food.” And she holds all these positions with pride.
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO GO INTO THE CULINARY SPACE?
My love of using food as a conduit to bring a diverse group of people together and spark conversations while enabling us to focus on our similarities and understanding our differences is one of the main reasons I got into cooking.
WITH THE SUCCESS OF YOUR RESTAURANTS, THAT MAKES YOU AN EXPERT IN THE ART OF ENTERTAINMENT. WHAT TIPS CAN YOU SHARE WITH OUR READERS ABOUT THE ETIQUETTE OF DESIGNING A MENU FOR THEIR WEDDING RECEPTION?
The menu for YOUR wedding reception should include all time favorites of the bride and groom which evoke memorable moments from childhood, times spent together, while being inclusive of their guest palates. I personally love calligraphy along with a champagne/ wine bar. Specialty cocktails in honor of the bride and groom are fun! Be sure to have professionals to set a table that is memorable and creates a wow factor for you! Colors, plating, linen and florals are a great way to add texture and substance to your setting. Since this is your special day, you may consider splurging and treating yourself to a few luxurious specialty items should your heart desire such.
WHAT SHOULD OUR COUPLE KEEP IN MIND WHEN PLANNING DATE NIGHT AND OTHER SPECIAL OCCASIONS?
Date Night and other special occasions can include cooking together, thought provoking dishes which include aphrodisiac selections, surprising the other with a different type of cuisine, candles, rose petals, a romantic picnic, poetry, low lighting and soft music are great ways to set the tone for a tantalizing date.
YOU HAVE A GREAT COOKBOOK, CAN YOU TELL US WHY YOU DECIDE TO PRODUCE BOOKS?
I have written one book and have featured recipes in a few others. Writing is a great escape for me as well as a wonderful way to have others experience my fondest family meals in the comfort of their home.
My cookbook, entitled “Melba’s American Comfort- 100 Recipes from my kitchen to your home” is a labor of love. It is my very first book ever written. It features stories which document the quilt of my life, with generational recipes woven in.
WHERE CAN OUR READERS ACQUIRE YOUR BOOKS?
Many local book stores as well as online.
WHAT IS NEXT FOR YOU?
I am super excited about Melba’s in Newark, my dog food line and a few other projects we are working on.
DO YOU PROVIDE PRIVATE CATERING SERVICES?
We provide full service catering services for 20 - 10,000 guests.
WILL YOU BE OPENING UP IN THE MIDDLE EAST REGION?
I was invited to visit the Middle East and fell completely in love with the productiveness and the openness to do business especially in Dubai, which is a thriving international hub for entrepreneurs.
I found the people extremely forward thinking, open to new ideas, friendly and extremely hospitable. I have not signed a deal yet however, I am in talks with two major entities.
Ladies and gentlemen… there you have it. Melba’s Restaurants features the best gastronomy in the New York area reflective of the Black experience that is also a celebration of the American experience. Bon Appetit.

EHP MARINA & RESORT
Hamptons Hidden Gem
WORDS BY MYRDITH LEON-MCCORMACK IMAGES COURTESY OF EHP RESORT & MARINA
Ihave spent more time in the Hamptons this year than at home, and I see the craze for the destination. The place is relaxing even when filled with people. As soon as the weather starts to warm up, people start planning to book their homes.
There are many options. If you love the water beyond the beach and pool and love boating, the EHP Resort & Marina is your premier destination. It sits on a striking nine-acre waterfront resort and marina that will leave you breathless. When planning your wedding or anniversary, you must check out EHP.
It's a wedding venue where you can experience the most breath-taking sunsets in East Hampton from your cottage, you will experience spectacular open-air dining, curated activities, and luxury amenities.
Hospitality is number one for WBM, which is critical when recommending a venue. I was visiting the property off-season, but there was no shortage of service. They treated me well and offered to pick me up and drop me off at the local train station.
I saw the setup of a wedding taking place on the property. All hands were on deck behind-the-scenes. The ground crew was setting up chairs, and florists were designing the arch where the wedding was to take place that evening, with the epic view of the sunset to bless the occasion on a perfect September evening.
You will be happy to know that EHP is open year-round for those who don’t mind the cold and love being by the water as much as I do. It would make for a perfect winter wedding as much as a Spring, Summer, and Fall wedding.
You can find a measure of tranquility and calmness in the water – and that is always perfect.

NASHVILLE
Nashville, Tennessee, may not be the destination you would’ve considered as your destination wedding option or honeymoon selection before this article. But I promise you will consider it for a trip for your bachelor/bachelorette party or, at the very least, a honeymoon destination if you are not a local.
If you enjoy music, good food, history, and great whiskey, start looking for your flights! I booked my flight during the JetBlue Fall Sale, packed my backpack, and left for some good old fashion southern experience.
Tennessee has a great history regarding civil rights, historically Black Colleges, the famous Fisk University, which gave me a sneak peek of the art installation during my visit, and the main stage where some of the world's greatest Country Music artists have performed.
There are a few must-see places for you to make a stop at when visiting. But before we get to that part, we want you to find some of the most fantastic spots to stay:
We will start with the beautiful 1 Hotel located in the heart of downtown, within walking distance of every historical place you must visit. This property is not only a sustainably conscious business, but their customer service perfectly represents what southern hospitality is all about.
Their standard rooms are spacious and practical for both short and long visits. The rooms are wonderfully laid out for you and your beloved to enjoy comfortably.
It is truly an urban oasis that provides a remarkable luxury experience while protecting the planet. 1 Hotel Nashville has 215 rooms, which include 37 suites. For those of us that are environmentally concerned, you will see the thoughtful touches of nature in the architecture of the building. They bring spirit into each space with native greenery, reclaimed materials, and organic cotton linens.
They have a restaurant in the main lobby for your dining experience. But if you prefer to stay in the room, you will also enjoy fresh takes on in-room dining and 1 Hotels' signature Lobby Farmstand.
The food is delicious, and their presentation is just as expected.
The property provides three unique ways to have a wonderful dining experience: a restaurant, a bar, and rooftop venues. Each space offers sustainable and locally sourced farm-to-table cuisine.

Whether you are a music creator or just an enthusiast, the legendary Hutton Hotel is steps from the famed Music Row. The energy flowing throughout the whole city is a sexy vibe you can feel from the moment you step into the lobby of the Hutton Hotel. One filled with music and good eating. The Hutton is Nashville’s original boutique, so the history is rich, and the staff takes pride in keeping that positive energy flowing. They provide live music and spirits after you check in to the hotel, setting the mood for what is to come.
If you want to hit the right notes–this space is perfect for it in many ways. Their event spaces are non-traditional in the sense it is not a typical ballroom. It gives you an ideal nightlife and elegance for any music lover who wants their wedding to be nothing short of a performance worthy of remembering by all in attendance.
The rooms are also very cozy and the right size for you and your guests traveling to your wedding or any family outing you might be planning to this part of the country.
Since you are so close to so much, be free to stop at The Graduate Hotel and enjoy the wonderful atmosphere at White Limozeen. The combination of elegance, great decor, and excellent food is a must-stop for breakfast or lunch. And be sure to make it upstairs to the rooftop to indulge in libations at White Limozeen that celebrate the iconic Dolly Parton in every way imaginable. It makes for great photo moments.
For those looking for a more modern take on the hotel experience with a bit of a younger, non-traditional feeling of home-away-from-home, The BentoLiving Chestnut Hill must be your top choice. Let’s start with the architecture. Simply brilliant, and the use of the space is just simply genius. As a native New Yorker, walking into a room reminds me of everything happening in our big cities to accommodate people comfortably and not waste a bit of space.
If one is planning a wedding in Nashville and you're not a local and want a space to come to stay long term that can accommodate you
for remote work while you are conveniently taken care of, this is your space. The area has a “bodega” on the property to shop for your essentials, and they have some of the critical things you will need to cook for yourself and your traveling partners. But if you want the hotel experience that involves simply making a reservation, just head downstairs. The restaurant offers a full-service restaurant and bars offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner centered around Pacific Rim-inspired fare with fresh and healthy dishes.
Last but not least is The Dive Motel. Yes. Let’s go back in time and thoroughly enjoy a life filled with the simple joys of bright lights and great music in this adult-only facility.
You will feel transformed with this great property. The vibes are superb, and you never know who you may run into from the music industry at Dive Motel. The live music booked at the location brings a diverse group of people that come for the good drinks, good food, and the pool area that just screams let's have a great time and create memories.
So for all of you ladies looking to plan a great girl's trip, go to Nashville. This destination is quickly becoming known for attracting bachelorettes from all over the country to experience its rich history.
While in Nashville, be sure you take advantage of all the cultural experiences they offer: The Country Music Hall Of Fame is equipped to host your wedding. The Grand Opry, Johnny Cash Museum, Nashville African American Museum, and after you see all that, stop by for dinner and drinks at Miranda Lambert's Casa Rosa.
So whether you are looking for luxury hotel experiences that wait on your every need, or if you simply want to be somewhere safe, clean, residential, with less fuss, or just something cool that will have your friends texting you about your whereabouts–Nashville has a lot to offer you and your traveling guests. There is something and somewhere cool for everyone in Music City.

PORTLAND OREGON
BY MYRDITH LEON-MCCORMACK
Portland is the largest city in Oregon, with a population of over 600 thousand. Downtown Portland has beautiful waterfronts, and the bridges and its views lend to the incredible landscape. Portland got its name because of being off the rivers–Port-land. It is a combination of loft-like spaces and tall buildings for commercial spaces. But their residential areas are simply beautiful. Tree-lined communities add beauty to the region. It is also one of the leading cities regarding sustainability – green living, and innovation, which has the best outdoor hiking natural views in the US we have visited thus far.
The gastronomy scene in Portland is incredible, with countless options. It is also one of the leading metropolises for having breweries.
Before taking the six-hour flight to Portland, Oregon, I booked a reservation to Kann to experience the celebrated Haitian chef Gregory Gourd, winner of the James Beard award, to be specific. He has recreated Haitian cuisine and added a spin; Haitian cuisine meets Pacific Northwest bounty at Kann. It is a live-fire restaurant designed to honor his heritage and culture while also honoring Oregon's seasons and local ingredients. It is worth a visit. But make sure you make your restaurant reservation BEFORE booking your flight. It is booked months in advance.
The next spot worth enjoying is Portland City Grill. The view from the 30th floor is as epic as the food and customer service. Their happy hour is one of the critical reasons patrons visit the space other than being in the heart of Downtown Portland's busy metropolis. The food is a mixture of American and Asian cuisine that will have your pallet dancing with joy.
Last but not least is Mediterranean Exploration, MEC; it is in the Pearl District of Oregon, and they have a relaxed vibe when you enter this establishment. Their presentation is spectacular, and their customer service is welcoming. The food was succulent — an essential ingredient for a beautiful experience anywhere.
All three restaurants have in common their commitment to supporting their community while doing good business. As we have heard in the media, Portland is facing severe challenges regarding its homelessness issue. We are determined to be part of the solution and ask you to support local businesses throughout your travels. Buy local, patronize the small businesses that can afford to stay in business so they can hire more people that can only produce a more stable environment.
While visiting Portland, Nike's headquarters is more like a college campus. Their employees are informed and committed to giving back to the community. My Lyft driver told me that most of his business comes from passengers traveling to and from Nike Corporate offices. Nike is also committed to preserving the natural beauty of the area.
So when visiting Portland, make sure you support as many local businesses as you can.
For those of you that want to get married in Portland, there are countless spaces to select from. We learned about a few of them when we attended the Portland Bridal Expo at the Portland Expo Center. We met numerous small business owners ready to serve all your wedding needs there. Venues range from vineyards to farms and hotel banquet halls, and Florists can provide you with various floral designs for all your design needs. And don’t worry about fashion– a few local bridal dress designers can create some originals. Some boutiques can provide you with familiar brand designers, such as Justin Alexander, Madeline Gardner, and Randy Fenoli, to name a few. Be sure to follow us on all our social media platforms to see in-person interviews and events we cover for more ways you can support local businesses.

What’s high on my checklist for a weekend getaway? A walkable city center, sublime regional cuisine, a variety of day-to-night activities, luxury accommodations, a unique destination, and proximity to major US cities. What can tell you, I set a high bar. I recently re-visited historic Antigua, Guatemala, scouting two exceptional villas as potential locations for bridal showers, bachelor parties, or family accommodations for a wedding or friend's celebration.
Within the gated walls of the 16th-century UNESCO World Heritage city lies Casa Hermano Pedro, a luxurious villa cloistered from the cobblestones streets and containing all the amenities of a five-star hotel. Starting with its seven en-suite bedrooms, heated pool, private gym, garden, and generous meeting spaces, this villa is perfect for group gatherings or for finding a respite after a long day of touring or partying in the city. Sleek, modern, and stylishly equipped, the Kuxtal villa provides all the ingredients for a perfect getaway.
Nearby Kuxtal Antigua lies outside the gates of the city in a chic residential community. Also built around a courtyard, this property is filled with Guatemalan style. Traditional Spanish colonial and regional furniture, artwork, tiles, and fabrics fill the rooms that access the central courtyard with its gurgling fountain and garden. Perfect for bridesmaids or as a family headquarters, guests get a taste of the highly regarded craftwork that Guatemala is known for in every room. A bonus is the view of the Agua, Fuego, and Acatenango volcanoes surrounding Antigua from the traditional rooftop terraces.
