LETTER FROM THE EDITOR MIMI
Another big change in fashion is luxury resellers like Real Real and Fashionphile. They remove the guilt of buying a one-use garment because it can always be resold and reused. Luxury is now affordable and socially responsible — a win-win for everyone and a game-changer for the fashion industry.

So as the masks are put away and people begin to live their lives fully again — dress up and be as bold and loud as you like. It’s ok to wear that bright yellow Birken bag that you adore or whatever feels celebratory to you.
“Dress up and be as bold and loud as you like”
It’s the antidote to the obsessive need for newness that fashion feeds us several times a year. Sure, there are still some trends that originate from the runway, but millennials are ignoring fashion dictums and wear what has meaning for them. Garments are not made to be worn once and thrown away or sit in our bulging closets to collect dust. Fashion’s circular economy has made it acceptable to purchase pre-owned — once called vintage, now called ‘I bought it on Fashionphile.’ It’s affordable luxury that has turned fashion on its ear.

Fashion is in a state of upheaval and it’s trying to get back on track — but the track has a few speed bumps in store. Two years of masks and home isolation have certainly made its mark on our psyche. People are ravenous for parties, celebrations and getting back to the business of gathering with others. Yes, human to human contact — what an unusual concept? And what would a party be without hosts and guests glamming up? If you are like me, you enjoy trying different personas to express how you are feeling in that moment — I never liked sweats except for doing laundry. The current explosion of weddings makes clear that I’m not the only one who likes a good dress-up affair. But dressing for a wedding has new rules — the rules are that there are no rules. Brides and grooms no longer follow trends dictated by fashion’s establishment but are influenced by content creators on their social feeds as well as things that have deep meaning for them. Couples are taking the design process into their own hands, mashing-up features they like from one, with a silhouette from another then partnering with a fashion designer to create their one-of-a-kind look.

Cara Spa, their in house facility has a well trained group of experts that are prepared to take care of your body work. Their menu of services is extensive for individuals as well as couple services. They can provide hair, and manicure services upon request.
The property is fully-equipped to feed you with their four on-site restaurants. They can satisfy the most demanding of foodies with their first class staff, lead by Executive Chef, Prabhakar Kumar—his Indian heritage, mixed with the Caribbean flavors, are the very reason why everything we ate during our stay was divine. If it is healthy living you are seeking, then Antigua and Barbuda are a perfect location for you to enjoy great cuisine. The food is fresh and the living is good. The hotel is also a great place to stay because they offer you morning meditation, yoga, pilates, and hiking on the grounds. And if that is not your thing, they have what seems to me like an olympic-size pool for your enjoyment, as well as the beach. Safe grounds to relax and enjoy nature and a quiet environment away from the fast-paced hustle of city life are what you can expect when you visit Antigua. The Spa Services The next day, I ended my trip by having a 60-minute, full-body massage by one of their gifted massage therapists, Sharla. Her hands felt healing. It was so relaxing, I felt my stress being rolled away with every touch. Coming to Antigua was like visiting your favorite aunt, uncle, or grandparent’s home, knowing, for those days, you would be safe and stress-free.
While I knew had to go, I also knew I didn’t want to leave! am sure I’ll come back. The property was a perfect setting for private celebrations, weddings, simply a quiet get-away.

Your Arrival Upon landing, I was picked-up by Baptiste Rental and Taxi Transportation, who took us directly to our hotel, Carlisle Bay Antigua, where the bellmen portered our bags while we were greeted with a cooling towel, hand sanitizers, and a refreshing drink—all before even checking in! The lobby seating area, which has a beautiful baby grand piano and bar, is beautiful and spacious, giving you views of paths to the pool, the restaurant, the beach, Cara Spa, and to your room and suites.
Never, in a million years, would I have believed you if you told me that the simple acts of digging my feet into a sandy beach, dipping my body into clear blue waters, and having someone turn over my bed would be the highlights of my life. The simplicity of quiet surroundings, endless rows of trees, fresh air, and the absence of chaos is what we are all looking for after two and a half years of unprecedented pandemic drama. We have found our place in the sun, even if it’s only for a few days. Carlisle Bay Antigua is a hidden gem that is situated between the mountainous regions of the island, past the rainforest, safely protected within a gated fortress. You are greeted by personnel that confirm your stay, and once you get past them, you have entered into paradise.

Walking into my air-conditioned room, bed having been turned over, slippers out, could make a girl feel spoiled. The suite was steps from the ocean, with a patio, and the size of the bathroom was that of a small New York studio apartment. I was floored. The living area was a perfect size to lounge around and watch TV, or work at the desk provided in the suite.

Similarly, relationships and their processes experienced trials that either resulted in deep unity or a wokeness to better. Moreover, we all read the stories about the perseverance of love amongst couples who couldn’t let a health crisis come between their nuptials. Typically, an event planner would be the partner that brings the couple's dreams to life while taking on matters that the average individual lacks the expertise and the capacity to fulfill. As we know it, couples-to-be have become brave enough to take creative control and embark on the wedding planning process themselves. World Bride Magazine met with three unique special event service businesses to hear what their take is on, post covid, couples-to-be planning and executing their own Let’swedding.begin with Nia Mozee of https://www. simplyniadesign.com/. A boutique interior designer at heart, since 2011, who takes any space and transforms it into a place of timeless comfort. She includes specialty floral arrangements that bring enchantment to the environment. Nia Mozee approaches “every event with a purpose. Merging our clients’ wants and needs into awe-inspired moments that they will have to share forever”.
Another thoughtful view on couples planning their own weddings comes from Chaya Bromberg of https://kayadesignstudio.com/. Kaya Designs takes a personal and spiritual approach to the events conceived alongside clients, including their personalities in the plans. Since her business is split between event design and interiors, she takes pride in elevating both the life events and the living spaces of her clients. Chaya weighs in with this quote: [I am] a huge proponent of using the wedding planning process to help build couples’ own relationships. People who plan their own weddings don’t bring the experience or relationships with vendors that a planner contributes. Additionally, Bromberg likes to say that her sense of humor, insight into the flow of the event’s timeline and her creativity with all budgets sets her apart. “I can help a couple compromise their idea of what their magical day is and creatively infuse both partner’s visions into the final event.” Their wedding day gets to be about them, both in the guests’ impressions of the day, and in the couple’s own joy in seeing themselves reflected in the design and execution of the day. Chaya is right; it would be challenging to achieve this while wearing all the hats. One would forfeit the joy in watching everything unfold before the special day. Chaya closes; “I have always had a knack for finding ways of expressing who my clients are through the design and flow of the event. It’s my day as much as it is theirs and I take personal ownership and responsibility to be sure that the day reflects the best possible vision for the couple.” We have a vetted roster of partners here at World Bride Magazine. Our wedding planners are a vital part of joining future families and ensuring the moments are eternally cherished. We value and encourage individualism and creativity. We dually honor the intrinsic gifts professional services offer the wedding novice. You heard their voices here. When carefully considering your nuptials, you can find out more about our sought after partners at www. worldbridemagazine.com and directly at https:// www.simplyniadesign.com/, kayadesignstudio.com/.iseneventplannerscaterers.com/https://www.andhttps:// STEPHANIE
Future couples need to be guided in many aspects and need to listen to those who have experience in wedding and event planning. I understand that some clients may see us as an unnecessary expense, but in reality we are the tools that help them maximize their budget. Hiring a wedding planner will also allow the bride and groom to truly enjoy the event. Planners don’t just do weddings, we plan all kinds of events. But the reality is that this independence of brides to plan their own wedding has taken us by surprise. But in the end, many of them come to the office desperate because they are on the verge of a panic attack and have experienced this firsthand. It is a good exercise for brides to try to plan their wedding by listening to the opinion of their mother, father, aunt, cousin, mother-in-law, father-in-law and, perhaps, the groom. Every time a bride plans her own wedding, 3 brides knock on my door requesting my services, all with the same excuse; “My friend planned her wedding and she was on the verge of going crazy…, it was a total disaster.” So you draw some wisdom from this; we are not an expense, we are a necessity. We divert stress, problems and any situations that might arise before, during and after the wedding. Personally, all my girlfriends have told me that the best idea they had was to hire a planner. They truly enjoyed their wedding without the worries associated with it”.
Alternatively, people didn’t wait around for advice or guidance; they simply took matters into their own hands. We made singular decisions about health. We invested in crypto currency. We turned our homes into WeWork spaces. We became the DIY population that inundated the internet on every subject imaginable. In the most demanding areas of life, we made real quality of life choices that made us our very own influencers.
The health crisis brought on a global reform that has marked us forever. Our career practice changed; our health habits were re-prioritized; our relationships took tolls that either taxed us or brought about gains. As a wife and mother of 2 littles, experienced a transformation in all of the above. Globally, the area of finance is where families became more frugal if they weren’t already. On one side, economists were encouraging families to save and buy with caution. The working class all worked from home as our employers directed. Health organizations provided guidelines on how to essentially survive the exorbital crisis.
Enrique Rivera uniquely offers bridal and special occasion apparel design services so clients get all their needs met from one professional service. Here’s Enrique’s perspective on the matter. “More and more young and, of course, inexperienced couples are hunted in the process of planning a wedding. Oftentimes, they are encouraged by family and friends to plan their own wedding themselves, as they believe this will save them a substantial amount of money. This is very far from the truth .

“People want to focus on the smaller moments in their weddings that mean more to them. Family is becoming more and more important, as it should be, so it’s definitely family centered. People want to have a creative outlet. The buzz word during COVID was “Pivot.” I think that many people who may have been interested in the world of weddings and events want to try their hand at wedding planning and florals. What better way than to create your own, making it even more special. With Tik-Tok, Youtube and DIYers and the overload of information on the internet, many event pros including myself are giving tips, tricks and unveiling what it takes to produce high-end events. Couples feel like they can attain the same look for less. believe in collaborating with my couples so that they feel like they were listened to and their wants and needs are showcased through my design style. This gives me and my team an opportunity to sit with the couple to hear their expectations for their wedding day and create a thorough plan on how to make that happen. We introduce ourselves to vendors and become familiar with the venue so that we are not surprised about anything on event day. I love an independent couple that has ideas, input and vision, but there is a point where you have to let go and trust the professional. We ensure that you actually enjoy your wedding day. If you have to run around and plan and get all the details, logistic together it takes the enjoyment out of the entire experience. Ifind it quite difficult to explain Bilbao. This city is traditional and modern, but also charming and overwhelming, all at the same time. As a particular detail, people in Pais Vasco speak a difficult and unique language, Euskera, which has no relationship to, nor share any origin with, any other language in the world. The truth is, I adored this place, its people, its architecture, and obviously, its food. It is impossible not to go crazy with the “pinchos.” In Pais Vasco, you don't sit down at a bar or restaurant to eat, you just order a beer and some “pinchos” and eat while standing up—then, you continue on your way. Basque streets and architecture love walking through the streets of Bilbao. Streets combine super old buildings, full of antique details, with super modern buildings, such as the Guggenheim Museum, one next to the other.

The last time I visited Bilbao, I did not spend the night in the city. This time, I went to a residential neighborhood, a few kilometers from the center, called Getxo. It was a great experience since this place brings together majestic mansions with huge green gardens, which added a very particular charm to the place. It was the ideal location to get to know a neighborhood where local people live. This experience gave me the opportunity to observe their day-to-day life and learn more about their traditions. What to do in Bilbao? I strongly recommend you do not miss the Mercado de la Ribera, as it offers a quite interesting variety of local products. It is also a quite emblematic building as well. The vitros made me completely fall in love with this market. In fact, the colors of the building are very peculiar as well!. The market is located a few meters from the old town of Bilbao, so it is perfect if you want to get lost among small streets and discover hidden treasures at every step. Another “must” spot in Bilbao is the Guggenheim Museum. It's fun, even for kids, as several exhibits are modern, vibrant, and interactive. The city is just the right size, which makes it easy to get around in just a few days. I recommend leaving a day or two to visit some nearby towns that are really worth knowing.

Bilbao and its surroundings Just over an hour's drive away from Bilbao is San Sebastián. For those who do not know, it is an exclusive coastal city which I suggest people visit as well. La Concha beach and the path around the beach is one of the most emblematic walks. This place was frequented by royalty, which has given the city its particular touch of distinction and Anotherelegance.

hy is the haute couture runway important for brides to peruse? The bespoke fashion shows presented in Paris twice a year to an elite audience of high-net-worth clients, friends of the designers, and press, has an elitist reputation. But, beyond the snobby appearance lies the pinnacle of creativity in clothing design. Designers ramp-up and exaggerate their ideas and create a spectacle of outrageous, yet beautiful, looks that are a visual treat. We may not be at the show, but we are all invited to view online. Best of all, for brides planning their wedding look, there is a wealth of inspiration. Brides no longer buy a dress off the rack. They are, increasingly, involved in the design of their dress and want maximum individuality in every aspect of their wedding. They take features from one dress and add it to a favorite silhouette from another, like a lunch buffet, taking the creative process into their own hands. Paris' Haute Couture Fashion Week is a well-spring of ideas for brides, since many of the looks weigh heavily on evening dresses and lavish jewelry creations. Take for example, Balenciaga’s recent couture show, where Nicole Kidman sauntered down the aisles in a tinfoil-like goddess dress with opera-length gloves. It's not often that she's done that for a fashion event, but for Haute Couture Fashion Week, she seems to have thought it worth the walk. Or the first Indian designer to show at Haute Couture Fashion Week, Rahul Mishra, whose gilded bubble sleeves look like mammoth wings of flight. The embroidery and embellishments are next level. At Fendi, Kim Jones played with transparency and illusion, which is not a new idea for the red carpet, but one that is ripe for more mass appropriation. Delicately-beaded sheer fabrics revealed jeweled bikinis beneath. Not a look that will work off the runway, but the idea of playing with sheerness and bejeweling undergarments is worth considering with your wedding dress. Other looks were pared-down in simple, but lavish, pastels, which kept the focus on design instead of decoration. Virginie Viard at Chanel continues to keep her models sweet and demure with accessible, yet exquisitely-crafted, runway looks that have mass appeal. A closer look reveals that the ideas are plentiful—big bows decorate the heads of models (like a cake topper), the use of cowboy boots gives an air of casualness, and t-strap pumps look very fresh. Each look can be assessed on its own merit, like the use of Kellygreen beaded overlay on a white tulle dress, which is an interesting accent color for a wedding gown. Sounds like a strange mix, but the proof is in the image—it’s delicately beautiful. The jewelry world also gets into gear during Haute Couture Fashion Week. Legacy jewelers, like Chopard, create over-the-top pieces with an extravagant use of gemstones. It’s super fun to just gawk at the pieces and think about the baroness or Cannes celeb who will wear them. The grouping will travel to exotic places all over the globe, in hopes of finding a buyer who will put out the cash for a one-of-a-kind piece of bling. But here, too, is an opportunity to see stateof-the-art jewelry, which can be fashioned with lesser gemstones, or even made into costume

HAUTE COUTURE: a MUST-SEE for BRIDES
Bridesjewelry.have so many resources to help them dream-up inspiration for their unique wedding look. Pinterest, Instagram, and other social media platforms are a good place to start, but Haute Couture Fashion Week has a more diverse world of fashion ideas than pure bridal. It’s not just for the elite, either—everyone is invited to the party, to ogle the champion designs that strut the runway. The masters in fashion put out a spectacle of amazing work for all to see and for brides, it's a great starting point.

Marriage means different things to different people. Whether your union is birthed from an arranged marriage, you met each other online, or had an accidental meeting, you either feel ”it” or you don’t. Mary J. Blige sang it to us many decades ago with the lyrics, “real love, I’m searching for a real love.” It’s not coincidental that Theresa O’Neal and Jeff Redd met and felt there was a chemistry that quickly drew them together. When you see them interact with each other, you see there is something magnetic between them, and you continue to observe that magnetism even when they are apart. They genuinely like, respect, and care for one another's wellbeing. Theresa is admirable of Jeff ’s life experience and respects his wisdom. I heard this first-hand when we were in a conversation about men and masculinity in today’s society. Many of their values seem heavily based on their own personal relationship with God. They make no public apologies or hide the influence they want God’s principles to have over their union.
Full Name: Theresa (O'Neal) Redd & Jeff Redd What is your occupation? [Theresa] Managing Director of REALEMN Productions, marketing producer in the music and entertainment world [Jeff ] Entrepreneur, music executive, musical entertainer, and property manager. Cultural background? [Theresa] Jamaican born, Brooklyn bred [Jeff ] White Plains, NY born, Mount Vernon, NY bred How did you meet? [Theresa] We met backstage at BB King’s in Times Square, after one of Jeff's performances. Why did you pick the Caribbean as the location for your nuptials? [Jeff ] Theresa was born in Jamaica, so what better place to be, but in the Caribbean islands? We decided on Antigua and Barbuda because she went there 10 years ago and fell in love with the island and its people. Not to mention, the hospitality was amazing and the food was simply awesome. We wanted to bring our family along with us to enjoy it as well, but most of them couldn't make it, so we decided to do a 2nd ceremony in New York for those who couldn't make the Caribbean trip. What about the people and culture interested you most? [Theresa] Jeff's family is from South Carolina and Virginia, which means he knows a lot about Southern hospitality. So, when I told him how friendly and accomodating the island locals were in Antigua and Barbuda, he was ready to go. We're also “foodies” who enjoy fresh fish and exotic sauces. You have both been married before, why did you choose to do it again? We will not ever give up on love and all that it offers. Although our past relationships were challenging, we did all that we could to keep them together, but our spouses were not willing to compromise.

What does love mean to you? [Theresa] Love means communicating and [Jeff]understanding. Love means being obedient to God's word, so that I fully understand how my wife needs to be protected and respected. What does family mean to you? [Theresa] Family is the heartbeat to a relationship. Family makes you accountable for [Jeff]everything. Family means honesty, support, and encouragement.
You both have children. What tip(s) do you have for blended families? We constantly keep them engaged in whatever it is we are doing. For instance, if we go and watch fireworks, we make it a group outing with her sons and my sons, that way they become familiar with one another, as well as giving them the opportunity to see how Jeff and I interact on a daily basis.
