THE LOOK
of LOVE As the first African American woman to grace
the cover of American VOGUE in 1974, iconic supermodel Beverly Johnson knows a thing or two about getting ready for the camera. She has posed for countless magazines, appeared on the cover of dozens of glossies, authored two health and beauty books as well as a memoir, The Face That Changed It All, but Beverly’s most important photo shoot is yet to come – her wedding portrait with her soon-to-be husband, financier, Brian Millian. “Finding the love of my life at this point in my life has been amazing,” the youthfullooking, love-blessed 68-year-old beauty icon shared recently with PEOPLE.
MAINTENANCE IS KEY Visits to a dermatologist before a big photo shoot are a must, and Dr. Wendy E. Roberts, “The Youth Booster,” is Beverly’s go-to. Her favorites include Luminous Cleansing Elixir, Revitalizing Eye Concentrate Skin Hydrator, and the line’s pièce de résistance, Intensive Replenishing Facial Moisturizer – a multipurpose formulation that features oil-based ingredients and fine-quality humectants to help fortify skin’s natural hydration, leaving the complexion looking remarkably healthy. Beverly’s commitment to hydrated, dewylooking skin is not limited only to her stunning face. She is also a big fan of Retrouvé’s avocado-enriched Baume Ultime body oil. “It’s so nice and thick, and it just seeps right into my skin and leaves it soft and hydrated.

LETTER FROM THE PUBLISHER
W
here do we even begin? To say that 2020 was an unprecedented year would be an understatement.
Never in our wildest dreams did any of us think that something like this could ever happen in our lifetime, let alone last as long as it has. COVID-19 caused us to reflect on what was truly important to us. We all have faced a myriad of challenges, awakening a variety of emotions that we can't even begin to describe. One thing we realized more than ever is how much love, family, friends, and time means to us. We wanted to savor every moment we had with loved ones. The things we thought mattered no longer seemed important, the things we thought we could put off became a priority and the people in our lives became even more valuable to us. We wanted to create memories that would last a lifetime with those we loved. We became kinder, more considerate, and more attentive to the important things.
The World Bride Magazine team took the time to do some much-needed research (in order to give a variety of perspectives to the challenges our industry was facing) and what they confirmed is why our content is needed to help you navigate through this process. Neighbor.com surveyed 1,017 people who are getting married in 2021, to determine how COVID-19 was impacting their wedding plans. Of those getting married this year, 65% of them said their 2021 wedding is happening, while the others postponed until 2022 or 2023. Despite the traditional “wedding season” being in the fall, the majority of 2022/23 weddings are happening during the offseason, from January to April. That includes 42% of people who said they postponed their 2020 wedding and only 30% of people who planned on getting married in 2022. These stats showed that your concerns are our concerns, and we wanted you to know we are here for you and your beloved. As you go through this issue, know that we are here and ready to lend our support. Please check out our online platform, follow us on social media, and remember that love believes in all things, love hopes for all things, and love never fails.

SEPTEMBER 9, 2021 PHOTOGRAPHY BY HANNAH SOULE POWDERLY
FULL NAMES: James J. Slade & Tracy Slade OCCUPATIONS: Traffic Device Maintainer for DOT, (James) Caretaker of grounds NYCHA(Tracy) CULTURAL BACKGROUND: Both have Southern roots.
WHAT WAS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING FOR BOTH OF YOU WHEN PLANNING YOUR WEDDING?: Location meant a lot to us. We didn’t want a wedding in another state. We wanted to be married in Brooklyn where most of our friends and family are located, which was the best choice for us. WHAT DOES LOVE MEAN TO YOU? Love means everything to us. We love God first, and then each other. We were friends first because we believe that for couples to truly love each other and trust one another, they must be friends with each other. WHAT DOES FAMILY MEAN TO YOU? Our families are also very important to us. James has children from a previous marriage (he loves them, as a father should) and we both have elderly parents that we support. WHAT ARE SOME TIPS YOU WANT TO GIVE TO COUPLES PLANNING THEIR WEDDING? Make sure you know what you want, as far as your theme/style. Also, remember that flowers are important and to make sure you have an ample budget to accomplish your goals for your wedding items. Ladies, if you’re planning your wedding for the next year, get started on your weight loss and skin regimen now. Finally, if you have bridesmaids, make sure they have your back and are willing to help you with the invites, wedding registry, and other details that may be tedious.

PHOTOGRAPHY BY PHILIP GABRIEL PHOTOGRAPHY
FULL NAMES: Michael Gordon, Kerry-Anne Gordon OCCUPATION: Engineer, OBGYN CULTURAL BACKGROUND: Jamaican, West Indian
WHEN PLANNING YOUR WEDDING WHAT WERE THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS TO YOU? An event that we would look back on fondly. Even in the midst of a pandemic, we still wanted to have a classy occasion. The pictures/videos will live-on well past the pandemic, and we took the time to ensure that every detail would be memorable as we reflected on our special day.
WHAT DOES LOVE MEAN TO YOU? Love speaks to the people around you who graciously share in your life in the most meaningful ways; whether by birth or the generosity of friendship. We all need a helping hand as we navigate the production of a wedding—or in life. Sometimes, a complete stranger can show you love, in a way that you could have never imagined, to help you along your path.
WHAT DOES FAMILY MEAN TO YOU? It has taken a lot for each of us to get to where we are, with Kerry-Anne migrating from Jamaica and Mike being a first-generation child born to immigrants. We both, admittedly, would not have accomplished what we have had we not received assistance from family and friends along our journey. They don’t always give you monetary support, as that’s not always what you need. Oftentimes, it is an emotional boost when you’re down-and-out, or a simple gesture of just showing up to events, cooking food, or helping you get prepared. It’s the little things (that often go unnoticed) that we all need to succeed. We can’t thank our family groups enough for what they’ve done for us over the course of our lives. WHAT ARE 8 TIPS YOU WANT TO GIVE COUPLES PLANNING THEIR WEDDING/MARRIED LIFE? 1. Having a vision of what you want your event to look like is invaluable. You will come across so many options and opinions that make it easy to get overwhelmed. 2. Choose vendors that you “like.” You will come across some stressful times, and having people that you get along with makes things so much easier. 3. Be prepared for a lot of ups-and-downs in 4. the planning phase. We’ve all known people who have looked at 20+ venues before making a decision; the road can be long and arduous. 5. Be very detail-oriented. Thankfully, Kerry is an extremely good planner and was able to take-on the task of planning the wedding. 6. Communication is the biggest key that we are still working on. It goes a long way and you need it daily when dealing with the ups-and-downs of life. 7. Attend premarital counseling. It can be easy to overlook but will pay big dividends in your future together. 8. Be sure that both of you are ready for the commitment that stands in front of you. Both Kerry and I are 100% into our union and have no regrets about the path we’ve chosen. There you have it. Please follow them on Instagram at @meetthegordons

REAL BRIDE REAL WEDDINGS
JaLisa Cory and
BY KARIS RENEE
Two major planners met their match in each other this year as bride, JaLisa E. Vaughn, was surprised with a beautiful proposal by groom, Cory Jefferson, at her parents’ home.
18 | WORLD BRIDE MAGAZINE
“Cory and I dated for almost exactly one year before he proposed,” the bride says. “Due to the current climate of our world (the COVID-19 pandemic), Cory worked with my parents and my brother to set up the proposal at our weekly family Bible study.” Only 5 days after popping the question, the couple pulled together an intimate ceremony at home, full of love and a close-knit family party of less than 10.
The couple chose their Dallas backyard for the romantic ceremony and committed not only their love to each other but also their steadfastness in writing their own rules of life & love.
“In 20 minutes, I tried on this dress and was out the door! I am so grateful for them, their incredible service, and for accommodating me on such short notice.”
The Jeffersons proved, this year, that overcommunication can be a great thing for a fresh marriage, starting their love story rooted and grounded in their vocal faith. When leaving advice for other brides or romantic hopefuls planning their big day during this time of home-quarantine and beyond, bride JaLisa Jefferson passionately states, “Remember what’s actually important.
That’s the two of you and what makes you both happy. Make sure you’re doing it for you.” Just like their friends who drove by their home for their “mobile reception,” we’re cheering this couple on and looking out for greatness from the newlyweds.
“I always viewed marriage as an eternal and sacred commitment to God and to your spouse—a commitment to seek God and remain best friends forever,” the new Mrs. Jefferson shares.

The Wedding District project was born, from our experiences in the world of weddings, our travels, this daily interaction with various cultures on every social level. It strengthened our experiences in The Destination Wedding arena. We have witnessed a shift in the market in the past several years, more and more foreign couples come to France to wed, and more and more French couples traveling to the US and elsewhere to marry. Our partnership as two wedding professionals with different strengths makes us a perfect complement to each other. We see differences between cultures, countries, wedding styles, and budgets. .We love two countries passionately: France and the USA. The Mission Of The Wedding District is to bring together all of our knowledge and experiences with our team of wedding professionals to present a couple with the best experience we can on their wedding day in an industry we love that is ever‑growing.

How Millennials Can Work Smarter, Not Harder, at Mastering their Finances… From A Financial Planning Perspective
Many times, life takes a turn we don’t anticipate and if we have no financial cushion, it can be disastrous. Establishing an emergency savings account with savings to cover 4-6 months of living expenses must be a top priority. Regardless of your income, it is essential that you have an emergency fund as it will be your life raft. It is a fact, that low-income families with savings are more financially resilient than middle-income families without savings.
BY KIMBERLEE DAVIS HOST & FOUNDER OF THE FISCAL FEMINIST Millennials are generally described as anyone born between 1981-1996 and often get stereotypically mislabeled as “entitled,” “spoiled,” or “self-serving.” I disagree with this characterization. According to a recent study, 70 percent of millennials believe that working hard and 45 percent believe living frugally puts a person on a path to success. Many millennials were launching their careers during the aftermath of the Great Recession of 2008 and now have been hit harder than older generations during the pandemic –millennials have lost more jobs than any other generation. One of the smartest ways for millennials to control their future and overcome the socioeconomic events that have occurred during their lifetime is to focus on taking control of their finances. If you don’t strategically budget, save, invest, and control your spending money, your money will control you.
1.
STOP LIVING BEYOND YOUR MEANS We live in a world where more people are concerned about capturing the moment than living in it. This hyper-focus on sharing your life on social media accentuates our society’s “keeping up with the Joneses” tendencies. This behavior is a huge contributor to accumulated credit card debt. Credit cards are a useful tool to build your credit, gain travel points, etc. However, if credit cards are used incorrectly, such as for buying things with money you don’t have, then they will quickly become your worst enemy and will haunt you for years. My go-to tip for assessing whether you should buy something with a credit card is to ask yourself, “Will I be able to pay off this entire credit card bill at the end of the month?” Just making the minimum payment on a balance will lead to accrued interest and a higher debt balance which will damage your credit score. I believe in treating yourself. I

BE A BOSS AT BUDGETING I come across clients all too often who are afraid to take a deep and hard look at their finances. If you don’t know exactly how much money you have coming in every month and how much money you have going out, that’s a problem. Ignorance isn’t bliss. Stop being a wimp. Put on your big girl pants and do your budget! The key to improving your finances is to study them and work hard at them, the same way you would for a college exam, except your finances have a much more profound impact on your daily life. A good rule of thumb is to devote 50% of income to needs, 30% to wants, and 20% to paying down debt. Because your budget is an organic monitoring tool, you should review it monthly to stay on track. It is not a one-and-done exercise! You might be thinking right now that
Ask yourself if buying something you don’t need is worth NOT having an emergency fund that might get you through an unexpected financial crunch.
budgeting sounds tedious and boring and you have better things to do with your time. Absolutely, wrong! 4.
Budgeting is a form of self-love because you will reduce stress with a budget and be healthier because of it! If you don’t want to spend time budgeting, I suggest downloading a budgeting app that allows you to connect your accounts and easily track your spending in real-time and categorize it for you. A few of my favorites are Mint and Pocketguard, both of which are free. If you’re already married, or planning your wedding, you both should sit down at least once a month and go over your budget together. Each partner should be aware of the other’s spending, how much money each has, and where it’s going. If doing your finances independently is overwhelming, you can hire a financial planner (someone like me). Money is a means to an end. You must control how you grow it, how you spend it, and how you save it. Budgeting is the first step.

enjoy a nice pair of shoes and a delicious dinner at my favorite restaurant too, but only treat yourself if you can afford to pay off your credit card bill in full that month. Don’t borrow from the future!
Here are my top 5 tips for helping millennials master the art of their finances:
pre-tax income so it will reduce taxable income and tax liability as well. If you don’t work for a company that offers a 401K plan, open your own traditional IRA or Roth IRA. An IRA, or individual retirement account, is a taxdeferred savings account opened by an individual. A traditional IRA is similar to a 401(k). Those contributions are taxdeductible, earnings and returns grow tax-free, and withdrawals are taxed when you withdraw from the account, generally in retirement. Contributions to a Roth IRA are made with after-tax dollars, but withdrawals are tax-free. Roth IRAs have certain income limits that you must be within to contribute. In 2020, you can contribute up to $6,000 to either a traditional or Roth IRA. You can open an IRA at a bank or with a brokerage firm.
ESTABLISH AN EMERGENCY FUND If the current global pandemic has taught us anything, it is to expect the unexpected. Having an emergency savings fund would have helped many ride out the upheaval of the pandemic.
Not thinking about retirement savings as early as possible can really be a problem for your retirement years, and it will be very difficult to survive on Social Security payments alone in retirement. Retirement may seem a long way off, but it arrives faster than you think!
INVEST IN YOUR 401K AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE I have three daughters who are all millennials, and as a mother, I am always giving-out unsolicited advice. My number one piece of financial advice to each of them is to max-out on the 401(k) contributions. A 401(k) plan is an employer-sponsored retirement account that you can contribute a percentage of your pre-tax salary to. Your contributions will be invested in stocks, bonds, and mutual funds. Essentially, contributions and earnings are tax-deferred. Many employers will match an employee’s contribution to their 401(k) up to a certain portion of total salary. In 2020, you can contribute a maximum of $19,500 to your 401(k) and if you continue to do so over the years, the compounded growth over the long-term will enable you to establish a solid retirement fund. Although this may seem like a big chunk of money, remember that it is coming from your
5.
INVEST WITH A HOLISTIC AND STRATEGIC PLAN After you have created your budget, established an emergency fund, paid-off credit card debt, and maxed-out on your 401(k) or IRA, you can begin strategic investing. The best way to build assets is to set up automated deposits to invest monthly. Diversified index funds are a good entry strategy with less risk. Robo-advisors, or online advisors, use computer algorithms to build and manage your portfolio based on the questions you answer. Most portfolios are composed of low-cost exchange traded funds (ETFs) and index funds. I prefer more comprehensive financial planning to what robot-advisors offer, and I do not believe computerized,
algorithmic trading is the best strategy. There are hybrid services that are partially online, and you can receive unlimited access to a team of human financial planners, virtually or by phone. This will offer a bit more personalization. If you prefer a managed portfolio that will be more bespoke to your goals, I recommend finding a fiduciary financial advisor to assist you with financial planning and constructing a suitable portfolio. It is risky to create your own portfolio without guidance and a holistic approach. Financial planning is an invaluable tool to give you clarity in your long-term strategy and to help you achieve your goals over your lifetime. It will help you to determine how you can fund retirement, college for your children, buying a house, care for elderly parents, or any other goals you have. It is organic and can grow and change with your goals. A recent study found that millennials dedicate 52% of their investment portfolios to cash compared to 23% of other investors. Keeping large cash balances as savings as a long-term strategy will not allow you to keep pace with inflation and successfully provide for your retirement needs. It is essential to create a strategic investment strategy to grow assets throughout your life. With intentional planning, saving, debt eradication, and investing, millennials can overcome the aftermath of the extraordinary economic events that happened during the crucial early years of their professional lives and the effects of the current pandemic. It may not be easy, but it will be worth it because striving for a secure financial future is the key to peace-of-mind and living in dignity throughout retirement!

You now make your own rules—about pets, paint color, landscaping and where the barbecue goes. You know where to focus your nesting instincts; maybe it’s time for a partner (or not), or even a family, or how about hosting a socially distanced dinner party.
There’s a feeling that comes with buying your first home, and there’s nothing else quite like it. You’re now in charge of your destiny, you’re the captain of your own ship. You’ve put down “roots” and the stability that comes from owning is different than free-floating as a renter. There’s freedom in it.
Whatever your case, it’s a rite of passage into a new, more settled life stage. The word “own” has a double meaning now. Of course, a big part of this step is financial. For most people, buying a house is the single largest investment they will make. It’s a commitment and you’ll feel like taking care of it; maybe that pair of shoes is no longer as important as a pair of fireplace andirons.
here’s a reason that piece of wood flooring in the entry of a door is called a “threshold.” Stepping inside a house, especially if it’s one you’ve just purchased, is indeed crossing a threshold—into home ownership, house pride, and a sense of true belonging.
26 | WORLD BRIDE MAGAZINE
It is an investment, whether the plan is to make a few improvements and sell it quickly at a profit, or keep it and watch your investment grow. Real estate remains an excellent long-term investment strategy—a great reason to buy. To prepare to purchase, be realistic about what you can afford and prioritize what you can live with and without, whether that’s a quiet street, southern exposure, proximity to great schools, or a garage for your car and stuff. Talk to your financial advisor (could be a family member or your accountant) and estimate mortgage, taxes, and maintenance costs.
Remember, you can always rent your house for part, or all, of the year, or even get a roommate to help with expenses. Be creative. Then enjoy the search; it’s fun (with the right agent!).

I sell real estate on the east end of Long Island, NY. Here, in the Hamptons, I’ve noticed the pandemic has motivated people to buy their own place instead of renting in the summer. IN REGARDS TO DESIGN, ARE YOU SEEING PAPER OR DIGITAL? We are still seeing couples primarily interested in paper invitations, but many Zola couples have moved digitally to capture RSVP responses through our guest list manager, which provides a seamless process for collecting addresses, building a guest list, and tracking RSVPs all in one place. HOW FAR IN ADVANCE DOES ONE NEED TO CONTACT YOU TO GET SOMETHING CUSTOM DESIGNED? We recommend that couples allow a minimum of 1-2 weeks for shipping. While we don't offer fully custom designs, Zola offers over 400 stunning designs and over 1,300 color options, which are very easy to personalize with custom photos, many foil and paper options, and more. We have a full team of designers in-house who work every day to create the most gorgeous invites with easy personalization options since most couples do think that creating a design from scratch would be very overwhelming. WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF WORKING WITH ZOLA? Well, Zola is the easiest way to crush every item on your wedding planning checklist, including purchasing beautiful and affordable wedding paper. We offer free shipping, free guest addressing, and free envelopes with all paper orders. Couples can also choose up to five samples at no cost to see their gorgeous designs in person before deciding, and we offer free matching wedding websites for all our paper designs to create a seamless and beautiful experience for guests, from paper to screen. We also offer free change-the-dates with any save-the-date or invitation purchase.
FOR THE COUPLE THAT IS CONCERNED ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT, WHAT ARE SOME THINGS ZOLA IS DOING TO BE SUSTAINABLE IN THIS AREA? Our paper products are printed by a vendor that is designated as an environmentally responsible business by the Green Business Bureau. For couples looking to cut down on paper products, Zola offers online RSVPs. It has never been easier for couples to build their entire guest list, request addresses from guests, and track RSVPs, meal preferences, and plus ones all in one place online. WHAT IS YOUR ADVICE ON SENDING OUT AN INVITATION? Generally, invitations should be sent six to eight weeks before the wedding, or up to twelve if a significant portion of guests will need to travel. Don't forget to include your wedding website on your invitation to direct your guests to additional important information (such as accommodations, itinerary, and your registry)!
WHAT ARE TIPS ON RSVP AND THANK YOU CARDS? IS THAT STILL A WAY TO GO? While some couples choose to forgo an RSVP card, instead, directing their guests to their website to RSVP, thank you cards are still a must! If you're not planning to send out thank you notes right away, you can buy yourself some time by sending a simple text to loved ones to let them know that you couldn't be happier to finally have the Dutch oven or wine rack that they purchased. With Zola, couples can easily choose thank you cards to match the rest of their paper suite and wedding website. For couples using Zola for registry as well, we make it seamless to keep track of the gifts you receive and the guests who sent them. And, as with all our paper products, thank you cards come with free shipping, free envelopes, and free guest addressing!

TUDOR CITY STEAKHOUSE
ew York City, known as a concrete jungle, has a spirit of strength, clearly seen in its landmark buildings and ornate structures, which conceal remarkable beauty—alluring all who discover it. It is home to some of the world’s most elegant, enticing, and memorable experiences. It is the place to celebrate and host your special events. Why not opt for a part of the city’s best-kept secret? One of these hidden beauties true to the city’s description lies in Tudor City.
pleasant to uncover a rich history, proud community, captivating city views and classy entertainment. In 1926, when Tudor City was being established, the developers and architects had a vision of one of the first, largest, and most important models of a middle-class residential community in New York City. It became the world’s tallest residential skyscraper in its time. The name ‘Tudor’ speaks to the 16th century English and Elizabethan time period and its influence on architectural style, design, and ornamentation of its buildings.
As someone who appreciates exclusivity and loves one-of-a-kind things, I would describe the area as an elevated city within a city; an imperial masterpiece, only accessible by two bridges and staircases. I love that you can’t just stumble upon it.
As you look to commence a new life with your loved one, the most prized gem is Tudor City’s restaurant. The Tudor City Steakhouse restaurant is a taste of this city’s living. It represents all that Tudor City’s initial developers envisioned. It maintains the history of the old city of New York and an exquisite charm that continues to satisfy the amusements of both locals and tourists.
Tudor City Steakhouse is nestled within a quadrant surrounded by 43rd to 40th Streets (north and south borders) and 2nd Avenue to FDR Drive (east and west borders). To my surprise, as a native New Yorker, it was

The pictures in this venue curate the rich and legendary history of Tudor City. As a landmark, all the details have been preserved and charmingly maintained.
Rightly positioned in the middle of the historic Tudor City complex; made up of the Windsor, Tudor and Prospect Towers, Tudor City steakhouse, according to Lekic, “is a next-generation” dual-level venue that offers versatility no matter your wedding theme or special occasion. It has indoor and outdoor dining areas which accommodates up to 250 seated. No matter the party, each dining area thoughtfully represents a unique part of Tudor City’s emergence. We scheduled a Sunday brunch date at Tudor City Steakhouse restaurant. Our host, Owner, Mirso Lekic; his wife, the event coordinator was not present, received us and showed us that good old New York hospitality. Top shelf drinks, family-style servings, and conversation that made us feel like family. I loved it! I loved it more that my husband loved it! This steakhouse restaurant is the allure of this “castle city” as Lekic puts it.
Famously known for its premium prime dry-aged meats, the restaurant rates one of New York City’s top and best steakhouses. The mouthwatering menu boasts of typical shellfish appetizers, salads, burgers, grilled seafood and a surprisingly delightful feature of international influence. The dessert menu is delectable with an elegant presentation. Tudor City Steakhouse is a romantic Oasis in the midst of the bustling New York City, the addition of outdoor seating, proximity to the park and the wonderful views of the East River compile extra amenities to a hidden New York City gem.” My favorite part of this restaurant’s ambiance is its private garden, East River views, rooftop, and small parks for intimate moments. To my surprise, as a native New Yorker, it was pleasant to uncover a rich
history, proud community, captivating city views, and classy entertainment. The manicured trees and natural greenery transform outdoor dining into an oasis; making the city truly a “slice of paradise”. It is all things perfect for a New York style wedding without the New York hustle. If you truly want to tell an enchanting New York love story, book the city! This charming city within a city is a place that will make old memories new and new memories cherished and unforgotten. FOR LOVE AND MUSIC

ajestic. Prestigious. Enchanting. Words used to describe my visit, as I toured the world-renowned historical landmark, the grand Carnegie Hall. As your World Bride Magazine wedding concierge, our specialty is to showcase sophisticated products and services from an authentic point of view. This legendary concert hall, most notably an establishment to the world’s finest classical musicians, is evolving into a curator of timeless experiences of love. Wealthy American industrialist and philanthropist, Andrew Carnegie, married his soul mate, Louise Whitfield, on April 22, 1887. Four years later, in 1891, he opened the doors to Carnegie Hall. As a romantic, it is my
32 | WORLD BRIDE MAGAZINE
belief that Andrew Carnegie was motivated by his honeymoon experience that fueled his pursuit to fund the most extraordinary music concert hall in the world. It is both natural and rare for a man, esteemed by his bride, to build wealth, secure a family, and share with his community a work so spectacular, it has been enjoyed for generations and will be enjoyed for generations to come. The alluring Isaac Stern auditorium, the enthralling, intimate Weill Hall, and its most popular Zankel Hall, denote three key attributes: the class and elegant taste the Carnegies had, how much they enjoyed fine music, and their commitment to recruiting musicians around the world to come and share in the culture at this epicenter.
Today, these attributes resonate with a diverse range of people and performers around the globe. Young world-changers like Kelly Hall-Tompkins, a renowned solo violinist and pioneer for social justice in classical music. Another achievement honoring the Carnegie legacy is the development of venues, where loved ones can create timeless experiences. Carnegie Hall is branding the Weill Music Room and Terrace (an elegantly renovated, dual level event space) as the destination for your Empire State wedding. In partnership with Constellation Culinary Group, they offer inventive cuisine, gourmet presentation, and impeccable service. Rest assured the integrity of your vision is considered as they create a timeless and memorable experience for all.
Matching the well-renowned artistry and grandeur of its three performance venues, Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Room event spaces feature a capacious rooftop terrace canvassing Central Park and the New York City skyline views. Adjacent to the May Room; an intimate dining room appreciating the founders, adorned with historic fixtures and a gorgeous fireplace, was a vast creative space. My children, who ran around in sheer
amusement, surrounded by sunlight from the dramatic windows and the famous music icons artfully decorating the walls, deemed this Terrace Room festive for dancing and exciting entertainment. For the first time in history, Carnegie Hall has launched “Dream Weddings”, a contest where one chosen couple will host their wedding atop Carnegie Hall at the Weill Music venue, fully-sponsored by Carnegie Hall and its partners. See www.carnegiehall. org/dreamweddings for the 1st Dream Wedding winning couple. Truly, a magical dream come true. It is exciting that Carnegie Hall’s extraordinary music legacy now celebrates love and the uniting of families. This invitation gives
New Yorkers, and couples from around the world, the opportunity to create the most resplendent event imagined. Carnegie Hall is the destination for superior experiences and services. Should you find you and your spouse-to-be share the standard of excellence, prestigious taste, and fine amusements, then the Weill Music Room and Weill Music Terrace at the Carnegie Hall are certainly the appropriate selection for you. Visit www.carnegiehall.org/eventspaces and www.carnegiehall.org/privateevents for booking details. DOGS & WEDDINGS BY STACEY MARCUS
W
hether you are planning a micro-wedding or a lavish affair, there is one guest that needs to remain on the top of the list—your dog. He was there to celebrate the ups and downs, walk in the sun and rain, and dole out daily dos and don’ts of unconditional love. Edith Wharton captured the feeling perfectly when she wrote,” My little dog—a heartbeat at my feet.” We checked in with Dr. Katy Nelson, Senior Veterinarian at Chewy for some insights about having your dog at your wedding. “First and foremost, know your dog. Some dogs will thrive in an environment like this, others will not. Keep in mind that many dogs will not do well with all the music, people, unusual sounds and sights, cameras, etc. If your dog has a personality type that will do well with the excitement surrounding a wedding, training should occur far ahead of time will be key,” says Dr. Nelson. Questions to ask yourself about having your dog at your wedding • Will the wedding be indoor vs. outdoor? • • Will the venue allow pets? • • Will you have guests at the wedding with allergies or fear of dogs? • • Who will you have in charge of the pet for the day? You will need someone to responsible for the dog prior to and during the ceremony please plan for someone to take the pet home afterwards. • • Are any of the flowers/plants that you’re using in your ceremony toxic to pets? • The ASPCA has a great list here that goes into detail about toxic and nontoxic plants. • • Vet the venue-Pet-friendly does not totally imply that the pet will be
34 | WORLD BRIDE MAGAZINE
welcome in all areas of the venue, so have a discussion with the venue’s management team about their definition of pet-friendly and mandatory boundaries. Dr. Nelson gives these four tips to vet the venue. 1. Find out if the venue allows you to bring your pet for practice sessions so the pet can become accustomed to the place. 2. Confirm which areas in the venue are designated for your pet to romp or relieve themselves and which areas are off limits. 3. Inquire with your manager whether there are other events being held at the same time and whether they have a process to cordon off the events and provide an overview of the type of event they will be holding with or without pets. 4. Ascertain the name and contact information at the venue during your event. In case of any pet emergencies or accidents, it’s important to have someone in charge of your pet that they’re comfortable with such as a familiar pet sitter, family member, or friend, and a go-to contact at the venue. WHAT SHOULD YOU BRING IN YOUR DOGGY BAG? • Portable bowls, water, calming treats (plus optional treat pouch), food, squeaky toys to give the photographer to grab your pets’ attention during photos, an Adaptil calming collar • Harness and/or gentle leader, leash (NOT a retractable leash), collar with ID tags • Poop bags, clean up supplies (like Nature’s Miracle, towels/paper towels, etc.) in case of an accident • Carrier, backpack, travel bag • Cozy bed if your pet will be staying after the wedding
PRODUCTIONS
Dr. Nelson gives these 8 tips to get your dog walk down the aisle: 1. Training, practicing, positive reinforcement 2. Practice with distractors, music, and other people 3. Practice elimination cues prior to the wedding 4. Make sure your pet knows the heel cue if they are walking with someone else 5. Use a harness, not a leash attached to the collar, and NOT a retractable leash 6. How to inspire dogs pose for photos 7. Provide your photographer with squeaky toys to catch your dog’s attention 8. Practice beforehand to get your dog to sit or stand still during the photo shoot WHAT IF YOUR DOG CAN’T ATTEND THE WEDDING? “It does sound absolutely adorable to have your pup in your wedding, but some pets are not cut out for the role. If your pet does not have the personality where they will actually enjoy the experience (not just tolerate it and be stressed the entire time), then it may be best to allow them to enjoy themselves at home while you go and have your special day. You shouldn’t have to have to worry about a pet that escapes during the ceremony or if becomes ill from either eating something he wasn’t supposed to or due to a case of stress colitis,” says Dr. Nelson. An alternative to including your dog in your wedding ceremony is including them in the wedding photos so they can still be there for your special day, and you’ll have photo memories to look back on. They will get to enjoy time with you in a private, controlled environment.

aeem Khan is a fashion designer based in the heart of the fashion district in New York City. Born and raised in Mumbai, Khan grew up in a world surrounded by culture, architecture, art, history, and design.
As a boy, he cultivated a vast knowledge of textiles under the watchful eyes of his grandfather and father, both of whom designed intricate clothing worn by Indian royal families. Khan ultimately moved to the United States as a teenager to become a designer and launched his career as an apprentice for legendary American designer, Halston, at the age of 20. During his time with Halston, he immersed himself in the ethos of modern restraint and learned the craft of draping and cutting fabric to create a clean, elegant, and timeless silhouette. Khan eventually merged this design philosophy with the knowledge he gained from his family’s business to nurture his own unique style, and the Naeem Khan design aesthetic was born. Today, the Naeem Khan Ready-to-Wear and Bridal collections are sold at more than 150 retail outlets across the world.

One of their favorite elements of designing is the focus on the back of the bride’s gown. THE WEDDING DISTRICT AT YOUR SERVICE For the past few months, all around the world, the wedding industry has experienced many challenges. But that has not stopped many designers from pulling all their resources together to ensure all their brides are taken care of on their special day. We are uncertain about how long this dilemma will last, but love is not canceled. It will be important for you to do your research, get in contact with your local bridal boutiques, ask the right questions, and plan accordingly. Having a wedding planner will probably be step one. Their contacts will be extremely valuable now.

SHOP & GO, MADE TO ORDER Shipping and mailing may not be optimal now, but it’s not impossible. Now is the time to become familiar with your local bridal businesses. T Bridal boutiques may be open to selling their sample stock or past season collections. These samples are probably items that were only tried on by brides shopping for their dresses. There are also the not-so-famous bridal designers that are not yet household names—they may be a great option now because more than likely, their atelier is fullystocked for making custom items.
Some brilliant designers may be right under your nose. They may be able to sketch, design, and produce a gown immediately for your occasion (given they have everything in house). So, whether you are having a spring wedding or a winter wedding, finding the right dress will depend on how flexible you are during these challenging times. We encourage you to stay calm and take things in stride.

I
t’s the big night. Nope, we’re not talking about your wedding night. We’re talking about introducing your parents to your betrothed’s parents. Could there be a more stressful event? How about hosting it during a pandemic? With so many restaurants out of business, or with COVID restrictions in place, it makes sense to host the “big meeting” at home. And, of course, this would be a night to impress—every detail handled to perfection. The expectations are high, all around, so beware of the tensions. Remember, there is no valid reason to believe you can’t pull it off. I’m thinking about the classic, 1967 film “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner?” starring Katherine Hepburn, Sidney Poitier, and Spencer Tracey for inspiration. This iconic movie not only takes on racial themes that are still very relevant today, but it does so in an elegant setting. There’s something about breaking bread with people you don’t know that gives you the desire to take time to discover your common ground. And when the tablescape is beautiful, it’s bound to be a night to remember. Here, we discuss the finer points of entertaining your future in-laws with Doreen Chambers, founder of Doreen Chambers Interiors in Brooklyn, New York. Why did you use “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner?” as your inspiration for this photo shoot? Not only is it my favorite movie of all time, but it’s so interesting that it revolves around a couple who just got engaged. It ends up being such an elegant evening—but it also had a lot of tension. Even though the film is more than 50 years old, it seemed so relevant today. I recently watched the movie again and it was WAY ahead of its time with interracial marriage. Interestingly, the two families were able to come together over a meal and discovered they had more in common than different. It’s such a pivotal film. Let’s talk about your choices for the table setting. What inspired it? Chanel de Métiers d’Art had a recent fashion show that featured a floor length dress and it was all-white and gold. This opulent outfit just felt like the perfect intersection of minimalism and glamour. I feel like we are turning a corner on minimalism and mid-century modern. With the pandemic, people are more interested in being in an environment that is cozy and wanting the home to reflect more color palettes and personality. Before COVID-19, we spent little time at home, and now minimalism makes sense. We now have a generation of people who grew up with mid-century modern and are more open to antiques and bursts of color. The goal is to layer those two concepts to make it feel authentic and lived-in without feeling fussy or overdone.

Some of Kim Seybert’s works are exotic with intricate beading that feels lush and ornate. The runner is its own statement. And, I love the napkin rings—the little elephants are a wonderful conversation piece, which can help if there’s a lull in the table discussion. 82 | WORLD BRIDE MAGAZINE
WORLD BRIDE MAGAZINE | 83
Let’s talk about the designers you chose for the table setting. The champagne flutes—which are special and just for the bride and groom—are gorgeous art deco flutes from Russian artist, Erte. Along with the Chanel dress, they tied together my inspiration of white, gold, crystal, and lots of shimmer. Then, I went on to use Kim Seybert’s Paillette decanter, Molten chargers, Art Nouveau runner, and Mahout napkin rings. Likewise, the glass leaf bowls by Vietri are just beautiful. It’s not that expensive and it can either sit on its own or it can hold olives, nuts, or candies. It’s another decorative element to add to the table scape, and one that will be admired. Michael Aram’s Molton flatware place settings feel contemporary and classic all at the same time and they’re a nice statement without being terribly expensive. And an inexpensive white and gold tablecloth from Gracious Home pulled it all together beautifully. The champagne bucket is so gorgeous—but who uses one anymore? ? Do you really want to keep getting up to run to the fridge to refill your guests’ glasses? A champagne bucket is the kind of thing that is going to elevate the entire evening for your guests. In fact, I think you should pull out your champagne bucket more frequently—like when you have your girlfriends over for a glass of wine. The entire event feels more special when I use my champagne bucket—which is actually a planter, but works beautifully because the gold anchors the table. Don’t get stuck on looking only for traditional “champagne buckets,” look for planters and bowls and other vessels that might work. This one is by Aerin Lauder’s home accessories collection and feels extremely stylish. Whatever Aerin is doing, I’m interested in—in fact, she has a new book, “Entertaining Beautifully”, that is an ideal engagement or housewarming gift. The candelabras are stunning. Where did you get them? Candles always make everything look and feel better. I got these in Marrakech at a wonderful emporium inside a hotel called El Fenn. I carried them home, but never had a use for them until now. That’s what I love about entertaining—there are so many beautiful things you already have that are gorgeous and can make the occasion personal if you display them properly. How can I make sure my flowers look amazing? Living in Brooklyn, I purchase all of my flowers at Seaport Flowers. Be mindful, finding a florist that you trust is important if you plan on entertaining. To make sure that the arrangement looks good, bring her a small piece of your china pattern. However, if you’re just using all-gray or white plates, simply tell her that’s the palette so that they can make the flowers more colorful. Also, if you have a special container or vase that you would like to use, bring it to the florist in advance so that they can use it.

What if you don’t have a lot of tableware yet? Anybody can have a beautiful table—it doesn’t need to match! If you only have odd plates and dishes, you can still pull a beautiful look together by purchasing matching chargers, candles, and linens. There are tons to choose from, whether it’s high-end designers, antiques, or borrowing your mother’s or grandmother’s set (I used my timeless Mottahedeh wedding china and Moser crystal for this shoot!). Also, check out low and mid-range sources, such as Crate & Barrel and CB2. Another great source is Replacements.com. They sell odd lots and accept returns. Remember, the tabletop is very personal and you don’t want to be intimidated. You want your identity all over the table and the rest of the dining area. While entertaining can be stressful, take your time and create a comprehensive plan, and discover a variety of workable elements that will look and feel authentic—everybody will appreciate it. Remember, everything looks gorgeous with candles and flowers. In the end, do what makes you comfortable and make an effort (that means absolutely no paper or plastic). I’m a terrible cook. Shouldn’t I just make reservations? No way! Order takeout and use your beautiful tablescape, then make a joke about it. An elegant evening at home, surrounded by authentic objects and delicious food, is a wonderful, intimate way to introduce the in-laws. I love beautiful things—I feel like if it isn’t fabulous, then you shouldn’t be doing it. Make it a magical night, and it will be enjoyed by everyone.

THE KING of
Scent IT’S YOUR WEDDING TOO; GET INVOLVED WORDS BY WESLEY OAKS PHOTOGRAPHY BY FRANKLIN THOMPSON
Both natural scents and formulated fragrances are said to evoke memories of one's childhood, the smell of a person, or the memory of an experience. Choosing the right cologne might be one of the most important, yet difficult things a man can do. The scent you choose says so much about who you are as, not only a man, but as an individual. You can either turn a few heads, or the entire room. There is such a thing as putting on too much fragrance, so when choosing a cologne for myself, I always make sure to go for the subtle scents that still making a statement. The scent a man wears is important because it can introduce you before you are seen or heard. A memorable fragrance can be the first thing people notice and the last thing they remember about you, so choose wisely and make a great impression.

G
entlemen, your soon-to-be wife has been thinking about her big day for some time now. She’s going to have a lot on her plate, such as planning the wedding, picking out color schemes, and all the minor details that are going to bring this special day together. Your role is to help make this job easier for your soon-to-be wife. There are some things you’ll only help with and other tasks the groom takes over completely. This is the perfect time to show your support and show that you’re involved.
WORLD BRIDE MAGAZINE | 95
GENTLEMEN'S QUARTER
WEDDING PLANNING FOR GROOMS The groom’s duties before the wedding are all about providing support. You want to make sure to show your wife that you’re ready to do this and that you’re committed right from the start. This period is about getting yourself in the proper state-of-mind. You’ll want to take charge of your share of pre-wedding planning. Things like helping refine the guest list, picking your groomsmen, and picking out a first dance song that’s unique to you and your wife are just a few things where you should be involved. One of the most important pre-wedding activities that need your attention is the rehearsal dinner. This is your time to connect with people closest to you and give them special attention. Remember, during the actual wedding, it’ll be more difficult to give attention to absolutely everyone. THINGS TO TACKLE BEFORE YOUR WEDDING DAY Remember, there are quite a few things you may have to manage. And, with so many things to think about and do, it’s easy to forget something. To help you with your pre-wedding activities, we’ve put together a few bullet points for your pre-planning. We know that every wedding is different, but this list should give you a starting point: #1 GETTING TAILORED – It’s easy to rent a suit and just go with it, but don’t be that guy. Put the time into getting tailored and getting a suit or tuxedo that’s going to make you stand out. Don’t forget, you’ll want to take your groomsmen and make sure they’re just as tailored as you. #2 FACIAL HAIR – Decide who’s keeping the beard and who’s shaving. It is highly recommended to complete this the day before your wedding, that way you’re not bleeding or sporting small cuts in your wedding pictures. If someone’s keeping a beard, this is the time for them to groom it. #3 YOUR NAILS – Nails are often forgotten, but it’s something you want to schedule for the bride, bridesmaids, groom and groomsmen.
96 | WORLD BRIDE MAGAZINE
#4 HONEYMOON GROOMING – I’m talking about trimming below the belt. Grab yourself any budget electric trimmer and cut down the bulk of your hair. You can stop with a trim or grab your razor and go full bare. Either way, make sure to do it a couple days ahead of your honeymoon so you’re not itching! #5 GET THE GIFTS – Create your list and don’t forget to purchase your groomsmen’s gifts early. Especially if you’re having something custom made or with engraved names. Some unique gift ideas could be sporting tickets, 6-month subscriptions to services like Hulu, Netflix, or Spotify, or something like a Man Crate. WHAT TO DO ON THE BIG DAY The day of the wedding may be a little stressful, and you may be nervous. It’s completely normal to feel nervous, but the one thing you want to double check for is to be certain you have both rings, and that they are in a safe place that you will remember. Other than that, focus on your personal attire. Have someone give you a look-over and fix any mistakes. Don’t rely on just yourself and a mirror—don’t be afraid to ask a friend for assistance. Here are the parts of your attire to focus on to stand out: #1 COLLAR STAYS – Having a nice, straight collar makes a big impact on appearance. Use collar stays to keep the tips of your collar straight. #2 CUFFLINKS – No matter how relaxed or how fancy your wedding may be, always wear cufflinks with those French cuffs. It’s a small piece to add to a suit, but it makes a big difference in the way it looks.
#3 SHOES & SOCKS – Always make sure your shoes are nicely shined. Shined shoes are like the icing on the cake. Match your suit with a nice pair of socks and your footwear will be on- point. #4 AVOID THIS – As the groom of the wedding, you want to avoid having anything in your pockets. Completely empty them. Also, avoid wearing your sports watch. They can be difficult to match with a suit or tux, so you may be better off not wearing it at all (this may be a great time to invest in a classic timepiece). Everything else is about making sure your wife feels special and has assistance for her every need. This is a big day for you both, and the focus remains on you two. WHEN IT’S ALL OVER The only thing to do when the wedding is winding down is to give a toast. This will typically be the very last speech of the night. You don’t have to do anything fancy. Just make sure to use this time wisely by thanking everyone who made your wedding possible, including the people who drove a long distance to be there. After your toast is complete and you’re heading out, you can finally take a deep breath—you’ve made it! You’re officially a married man and have a promising future ahead of you. Please feel free to do all the cheesy stuff, like carrying your new bride indoors, jumping a broom, or making a flight to your honeymoon destination. Whatever you choose to do, just remember to relax, enjoy yourselves, and have a great time. All the hard work is over and it’s now time to begin your life’s journey together.

GETTING MARRIED IN FRANCE DURING COVID-19
No Images
BY AMANDINE TARAVELLIER & FLORENCE CROIZER
T
oday, it is possible to marry religiously and civilly if the new measures of the government are respected. At the town hall, the number of people is limited to 30 (depending on the capacity). Make note that the gathering can only take place until 6 p.m. Also, be mindful that, due to the establishment of their national curfew and restrictions, it is necessary to wear masks and respect social distancing. Nevertheless, we noticed a clear improvement when it comes to compliance with these measures. As for places of worship, weddings are allowed, provided that two seats are left free between each person, as well as every other row remain empty. In recent months, the onset of the coronavirus pandemic has unexpectedly affected wedding and honeymoon plans for many couples.
WEDDINGS Since the health rules and regulations are constantly evolving, it is now difficult to plan well in advance. While it is true that a large portion of the weddings planned for 2020/21 had already been postponed, it is not impossible that they may be postponed a second time. The person in charge of the health department in each city in France is a mayor (Le Maire ou madame le Maire for a woman) and has all the power to decide whether or not to celebrate weddings. COVID-19 spreads differently from one region to another, and from one city to another. Nevertheless, a new trend is setting up. Our pretty couples are opting more for intimate weddings and elopement. As this is celebrated in a small group, logistically, it is much easier to manage than a traditional wedding, even though it still has to be prepared in advance. Often times, the location, itself, can serve as decoration, so simplicity is the keyword. Meet in a lavender field in Provence, or at the foot of the Eiffel Tower in Paris for a photoshoot. Keep in mind that wearing a mask is mandatory in the streets. We must also pay attention to the time, since there is a curfew at 6 p.m. unless you celebrate the evening in a family home, or on your property, and all the guests remain on site after the curfew, until the next day. In France, at a wedding, we usually party until the early hours of the morning, so the night goes by quickly.
HONEYMOON The honeymoon symbolizes romance for the new couple who can now plan to rest after preparing for their wedding for several months. Honeymoon trips to the end of the world have always been the dream of many couples, but France has always been a trendy destination with foreign tourists. However, with so many having to postpone their visits to our beautiful regions, some may have been forced to visit other countries.
98 | WORLD BRIDE MAGAZINE
At present, bars, restaurants, museums, cinemas, theaters, remain closed—all the places that make up the charm and the culture of our magnificent country. While France may not be easily accessible today, we know that we can't wait to receive our foreign friends again, and to help you celebrate your wedding or your honeymoon. It is almost impossible to find easily accessible destinations in our vast territory. It is therefore not always possible to plan a wedding during this pandemic, but with hard work, a wonderful professional planner, and patience, you may just find your special place. The period of pause allows you to take the time to find the right providers and to organize this intimate event. Please make certain that you plan your budget for every component of the wedding, down to reception venues, caterer, and DJ. Your priorities must be well-established and properly ordered. Even if you choose to have the reception in a private home, it is nevertheless important to make this place elegant. You should not compromise on your aesthetics. We have a few tips for wedding professionals in France for whom the current situation has been complicated. Questions must be asked and answered: • • • •
Where in France are you planning the wedding for your client? What are the rules of that specific providence? How many people will be in attendance? How many vendors will you require?
During these challenging times, we should not be taking risks with our clients' safety or that of our own staff. But we at Wedding District stand ready to create the most amazing experience for all of our clients and their guests.

A DESTINATION WEDDING & HONEYMOON AT HOME BY SIMONE PAGET A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of spending a weekend at the JW Marriott Parq Vancouver. This was my first weekend away from home since the start of the pandemic, and while the hotel is only located approximately 50 miles from my home base of Victoria, BC, stepping into the airy lobby hotel felt like I was being whisked away to another universe. This is no accident. Located amidst the glass skyscrapers of downtown Vancouver, on the edge of the False Creek waterway, the JW Marriott Parq is designed to evoke the unique energy of Vancouver, within a resort-like setting, reminiscent of a luxe Vegas hotel (the property is attached to a 72,000 square foot world class casino, which is currently closed due to the pandemic). “Some people will come here for the weekend and forget to leave the property,” says Jorin McSween, JW Marriott Parq’s Catering Executive. It’s easy to see why. Within the sprawling, 5-star Parq resort complex, guests have access to multiple places to eat, drink, and relax, including the Spa by JW and a rooftop aqua lounge with stunning views of the city.
100 | WORLD BRIDE MAGAZINE
While the ability to stay inside is perfect for perpetually rainy Vancouver winters, guests who decide to venture outside are mere steps away from a romantic walk along the seawall and the world-class restaurants and shopping of nearby Gastown and Yaletown.\ JW Marriott Parq Vancouver is also conveniently connected to the DOUGLAS, an Autograph Collection hotel inside of Parq Vancouver’s resort, which offers 188 guest rooms and suites. It’s for these reasons, the JW Marriott Parq has become a popular choice for couples who are craving an intimate wedding and honeymoon in the time of Covid-19. As McSween shares, “We’re a destination wedding at home.” Whether you’re looking to tie the knot or simply have a romantic weekend away from home, JW Marriott has everything couples need to safely make the most of their time together in a beautiful setting.
PAMPERING. Self-care is made easy at the Spa by JW, which features 10,000 square feet of space dedicated to healing, restoration, and rejuvenation. The on-site spa is perfect for couples who want to book a luxurious treatment (or two) either before the wedding or as part of their honeymoon. For brides, there’s a fully-stocked Glamoury, an onsite luxury professional makeup and hair salon that offers a range of services, from full makeup applications and blow outs, to touch-ups on the go. During my stay, I indulged in a relaxing aromatherapy massage, followed by some quiet time in the spa’s stunning relaxation area with floor to ceiling windows overlooking False Creek. The next morning, I took advantage of the roof-top aqua lounge, which includes a whirlpool with stunning views of the city. INTIMATE WEDDINGS. For brides and grooms who’ve had to adapt their wedding plans in 2020, the JW Marriott Parq is currently offering intimate and elegant weddings.
GORGEOUS GUEST ROOMS. These rooms are quite unique; with artwork inspired by local artists and unusual design elements to include the most memorable bedding and beds that are so comfortable you’ll never want to leave. The real lap of elegant luxury. INSPIRED LOCAL CUISINE. From the innovative fusion-driven wedding cuisine of Executive Sous Chef, Kunal Dighe, to the innovative local cuisine that’s available at the hotel’s on-site restaurants, guests are never far away from their next favorite meal. Couples looking to sweeten the honeymoon experience should add brunch at Honey Salt to their bucket list. With dishes like Gluten Free Pumpkin Pancakes (pumpkin spice, almond butter, oat crumble, pumpkin seeds) and Pacific Shrimp and Grits (white hominy grits, oyama andouille sausage, mascarpone, tomatoes, sweet peppers, garlic chives), this adorable, locally-sourced and regionally-inspired restaurant is perfect for a relaxing brunch or intimate dinner. SAFETY PROTOCOLS. With strict safety protocols in place, guests can expect a relaxing stay that allows them to focus on what’s important: safely enjoying their time together. Following the stringent guidelines set up by the Marriott Global Cleanliness Council, a group of experts dedicated to ensuring the comfort and safety of guests, the JW Marriott Parq has reduced touchpoints, increased cleaning practices, and tailored guest experiences, capacities, and event space layouts to ensure the utmost safety of their guests. From the bounty of wipes and hand sanitizer readily available near every high-touch surface within the hotel, to the conscientious staff that made every effort possible to make me feel as safe and comfortable as possible during my stay, I really appreciate how the JW Marriott Parq takes the health of their guests seriously. As Jorin McSween explains, “Love isn’t cancelled. People are ready to celebrate. It’s nice to have a space where you can do that safely and comfortably.”
