Rachel chose a mocha colored Sareh Nouri strapless gown—both unconventional. Each lady went outside their comfort zone and was tended to by our New York based glam team who created looks specifically for our queens for the day. Toni Smailagic photographed the brides-to-be on the lush grounds of the former Woolworth mansion with architectural features like wall to wall windows and French doors giving access to a floral filled balcony. The property is a perfect setting for a wedding and set the stage for an extraordinary experience for our cover brides. Each corner of the venue and grounds had a different personality and served as a stunning backdrop to the various elements of the wedding: the long Cypress-Tree lined driveway and the manicured front gardens where we held the Ceremony with rolling Tuscan hills as the backdrop; the whimsical back garden, shaded by ancient trees and complete with a fairytale tower for pictures and the bouquet toss; the grand frescoed Ballroom, where the wedding dinner was served amidst classic artworks, books and pictures of Fellini; to the cavernous and rustic charm of the Granary Room, where the dance party continued into the night and was perfect for letting your hair down before guests returned to wonderfully decorated rooms in either the charming farmhouses or elegant villa. s a twice divorced woman myself, I am always fascinated by other people’s story
on how they found love and built a family together. Family is the core of every society and a healthy family structure is the main ingredient of happy people. While family in the past traditional sense has drastically been re-defined by today’s society, family still remains the most important union one can ever be a part of. And with this ever changing structure of who makes up the “family” structure there is one thing that can be said about it all, every single one involved is looking for the same thing, love, protection,

Is there a timeframe for a person to introduce their children to a potential mate? I think the timeframe for introducing a child to someone you are talking to/dating depends on how soon you know what your feelings are towards that person. I knew almost instantaneously that Mikko was someone special. Just as I did online, I made sure I spent time alone with Mikko before introducing him to my daughter in person.

This past April during The Knot Couture Bridal Fashion Week, I had the pleasure of meeting bridal designers Vatana Watters, Founder & CEO, and her daughter Sydney Dunbar, Style Director. Vatana was born in Thailand and moved to America as a small child living in New York and Southern California. In her early years she was exposed to sewing and fabrics having a familial owned sewing school in Thailand where they made sarongs which captivated her as an artist leading to her pursuing a career in fashion design. According to Vatana, “fashion is a career that doesn’t sit still.” She loves that its ever- evolving and gives her space to stay curious with all what she sees and experiences.” Inquisitive minds are always looking for challenges to tickle their fancy and give them inspiration for new ideas.

Weddings are dear to her heart because it’s when families join in celebration for one of the happiest moments in a person’s life. She sees dressing the bride as an honor. Her and her team are so elated when brides share their weddings with them, it’s such a feel-good day!

SAREH NOURI BY MYRDITH LEON-MCCORMACK PHOTOGRAPHER: MANI ZARRIN
I have completely lost track of how many seasons I have been attending Sareh Nouri’s shows during Bridal Market Week at the London Hotel. But I will definitely tell you it is usually one of the best highlights of the season for me. Her spirit, and her energy is just warm and heartfelt. Sareh Nouri, self titled collection, cultural background is from Persia, Iran. And you all know my infinity for the Middle Eastern culture. So you can hear my excitement when I had to write this piece. I wanted to know what brought her into this arena that everyone one wants to label as niche, but I don’t see bridal as small by any stretch of the word. Maybe specific but nothing about it is small. There is a level of artistry that goes into creating anything related to the wedding industry so whenever I get an opportunity to converse with designers about their start in bridal it always warms my heart because the industry is so underserved in so many ways.
Why did you choose fashion design to be the platform in which you express your creativity as an artist? I started my business from designing my own wedding gown for my January 2009 wedding. I was unable to find the dress I imagined myself wearing, so I designed my own. I was an artist prior and had a degree in graphic design. I took a job

about designing and creating looks that I felt represented high-end fashion with a timeless, elegant look. I launched my own line in 2011. That is how the journey started.
Why did you pick bridal? What about the wedding day, or weddings makes this so special for you: I always loved wedding dresses. There was something special about them.
When designing a collection who or what inspires you? Each season there is something that inspires my thinking and contributes to my development of the new collection. This season’s collection was based on Swan Lake. I always work with an inspiration, source fabrics, sketch, and drape. There is something so remarkable about finding an incredible fabric and then beginning the draping process. This can make fabric come to life and help create the piece I previously envisioned even stronger.
Who is the woman you see wearing your work of art? My bride is classic, elegant, appreciates modern fashion yet values traditional style, and wants to look timeless on her wedding day.
What are some of the challenges you face each season designing a collection? Clean gowns with architectural elements. Brides are loving the simple aesthetic with a classic look. Sareh Nouri is definitely one to watch in the bridal industry.

It’s also an unwavering loyalty to one another because we are always on the same team. Summer is here and I would like to share my picks of what’s hot to enhance your bridal experience for this season. I am just loving all of makeup maven’s Pat McGrath Labs Mothership Eye Shadow Palettes (6 in total). But my pick for the season is the Platinum Bronze Palette. I used this on my model Stephanie in this issue’s fashion editorial. Six neutral cool tone colors is just what my bride needed to give her eyes that sexy but demur look for her special day. Each one is unique and all of the Mothership palettes can be used wet or dry.
A Better Clean Chanel La Mousse Cleansing Cream is one of my go to’s for my skin cleaning regimens. After I remove my makeup or the model I’m working with, I like to use this product to remove any other traces of makeup or other products used during the day. This product has a creamy texture that transforms into a foam to clean the skin. It also has blue micro-algae to help protect from pollutants in the environment.
The Power of Color Chanel Le Vernis Longwear Nail Color is what we used on our WBM winners in this issue. Luxurious, great color ranges that was suitable for all of our bridal winners. What I like is that this nail product is strengthening with continuous use as well as highly pigmented that gives an even all over lacquered look with just one to two strokes of color. I also love the high gloss shine after application.

Even in our modern day world where many couples live together before marriage and already know how their significant other responds to your living habits and flaws, there is still a lot to prepare for as a couple before diving into the world of marriage. Your engagement period is the perfect time to prepare for a life together. Bonus: try a couple’s yoga session with your fiance. 3. DAILY SELF-CARE Make a list of things you love to do, and write a list of things you do daily. Compare the two lists and see what needs to change. Self care looks different to each person depending on their personalities. As an extrovert, my self care looks like meeting up with a friend and going to a workout class. However, more introverted brides would prefer to have an evening alone with a book or wine (or both!).

When choosing to accent a look with jewelry, my rule of thumb is “when in doubt, take it out”. Make sure to do a test run with all the accessories then take a hard glance in the mirror. If you have any doubt about an accessory, then it probably needs to go. Jewelry remains a key part of your wedding ensemble. A statement necklace can be the defi ning focus of a bridal look if an open neckline requires it. In that case, tone down the earring. Or with a shoulder duster earring, opt for a delicate necklace or none at all. Incorporating personal jewelry with meaning is a must. sunshine, 84 miles of Atlantic Ocean coastline with pristine beaches and beautiful national parks, is an exciting, vibrant, internationally renowned city. Miam is also, absolutely sexy-- everything about it. The heat, the palm trees, the blue skies, and definitely the people. You can almost smell the excitement rising as you begin your long awaited adventure through one of America’s most exciting cities for nightlife, food, culture, art and historical architecture; all that will make your trip memorable. While Miami is not new to me, this time I came in as a guest. I wanted to explore the city in all its splendor.

El Paseo Hotel The five three-story villas that are now Paseo Hotel have always been a bohemian dream. Originally built in 1925 as apartment buildings in the Mediterranean Revival style, the hotel features elements of Spanish, Moroccan, Italian, and French architecture, like tile roofs, rounded archways and charming balconies. Not surprisingly, its stylish flair appealed to Cuban artists who came to live here in the 1950s and 60s, and for 25 years, the building was known as the Española Way Art Center, housing such notable artists as Kenny Scharf, Miralda, and Craig Coleman. Some of the rooms even have full-service kitchens, giving our guests that ultimate, Miami pied-a-terre experience.
