hen did marriage become more about the community, what others thought and wanted then more about the two people entering into the union? After two of my own marriages, I had to think about that question. Once upon a time, I consider the dissolution of those marriages as my personal failures. But now as I get older and maybe a little more wiser, I no longer look back on them as failures, but rather as journeys that I traversed that prepared me for the one - or ones - that I was created for whomever that person may be. I used to believe that forever was until the end of time. But slowly I have begun to accept that every second, every moment that I have been given, will be spent doing what I love, with whom I love, and that will be my forever. So maybe forever is not just about the measure of time you and I understand it to be. So cherish those moments of love, along with experiences you are both having. In this issue, I wanted to explore what love and beauty looks like to each individual we have featured in the issue. In choosing the cover, I knew I wanted to pick a “Plus Sized” beauty. A full-figured woman. It was important to me for several reasons. One, because my daughter is far from being labeled as skinny by this society, but she is curvaceous. And her level of confidence is my envy. I love how she has embraced every bit of her body, even the parts she is not completely happy with. My daughter with all of her flaws makes her Wonder Woman to me. She has showed me that internalizing what others think
and assume of you is more dangerous to you as an individual and makes you worthless to yourself. I recall the constant fights about her weight, what she wore and what she ate. I wanted her to be skinny. It was impossible. It drove us apart. But in her skin and at her size, she found someone who loves her and all her beauty. Even the beautiful parts of her I was afraid society would ridicule her for. In no way are we encouraging women and men to become unhealthy. I cannot in good conscience tell anyone to eat whatever they want; don’t exercise and wear whatever you want because you’ll look fine. Those are lies. Even for skinny and not-so-skinny people, lower body weights cannot be confused with having bodies that are in good health. We need to eat well; exercise and have long and healthy lives for ourselves and for those who love us. This includes having good mental and spiritual health. Both are just as important if not even more so in order to be able to survive this ever changing world. We also re-introduce you to some luxury brands that help you to give great gifts while being financially responsible and without breaking the bank. So it is with great pride that we present to you the issue of big love. Be loved and feel loved while being the best you.

ashion designers traditionally hire stick thin models. But recently there has been a sea of change at fashion weeks all over the world. Designers like Christian Siriano and Michael Kors showed full figure beauties on their catwalk which signals an acceptance that wasn’t always seen. At World Bride Magazine we celebrate diversity and inclusion of all races, ethnicities and sexual choices, With this issue we are proud to add curvy brides to our list. Our gorgeous cover model Liris Crosse is adorned with a Tara Keely Designed by Lazaro blush confection and Jacob & Co. diamond jewelry. Liris is no stranger to the bridal market—she is a regular at Kleinfeld and others. She exudes confidence, beauty, strength and health—important qualities for happily married life. Finding designers for this issue who addressed full-figured women was difficult. However, the search is improving with new brands and designers addressing larger sizes. The actress Rebel Wilson, from Pitch
Perfect fame, began an eponymously named grouping of cool separates and dresses called Rebel. The sixteen-yearold retailer Torrid, which has 548 stores nationwide and in Canada made a splash at a New York Fashion week this past September when CFDA winner Tanya Taylor created a capsule collection for our ladies which we shot in our fashion pages. One of the design pioneers of this movement Christian Siriano never thought twice about not including full-figure beauties in his runway presentations. For him, size was never a prerequisite for wearing stunning looks; “I started my first collection offering sizes up to 14 and custom up to a 26 so it really was never a topic for us in my office it was just normal. If we got an order for a size 18 we made it that was it. That’s why I’m still standing 10 years later. I just wanted to make clothes and have women buy them and feel good when they wear them, that was really the goal at the end of the day.” We’re with you Christian! At WBM we are a brand of inclusion and want women to feel beautiful no matter what size.

LETTER FROM THE EXPERT
I
’m beyond excited to be the guest editor for this curvy issue of World Bride Magazine, and to congratulate you on your upcoming nuptials. While writing this letter, I looked at some of the gorgeous images included in this issue, and began to reminisce about my own wedding day, which took place twenty years ago. I remembered all the things I did to fulfill the vision I had for my big day to be a wonderful memory. I also thought about the anxiety I had when it was time to look for a gown. This is normally one of most stressful endeavors of every bride’s wedding planning experience; and when you are a full figured bride, there is an extra level of anxiety. I had a clear vision of the silhouette I wanted, but being a plus size bride in 1998 was very different than it is in 2018. The offerings were not as great back then, especially if you wanted to go to a bridal salon to try on gowns in your size. Even though I had years of experience styling women with different body types, spending hours in fittings and a full understanding of foundation garments and their benefits, shopping for my own gown still provoked anxiety about going into stores that didn’t have gowns in my size. Today there’s great news; you have a lot more options for both bridal salons and beautiful gowns, in sizes fourteen and up. Before

As an event planner I’ve noticed a trend in smaller weddings and events. Has this trickled into the pastry world? Over the last two to three years the trend in pastry have been back to BIG cakes. Does size matter? The size should be based on the number of guests that you want to feed and the style of the wedding. One of Ron’s brides wanted a nine-tier wedding cake as a showstopper for her wedding but would have more cake then guests. Ron came up with the idea of partnering with local food charity for the couple to donate the remaining cake and they got to share their joy and give back to the community with a slice of heaven! 40 | World Bride Magazine

am often asked the difference between color and enhancement options for nails. Here is the information you will need to know to make an
informed decision for your fingertips.
Nail Lacquer (also called Nail Polish) - This is
the classic color that is applied in four coats. It requires a base coat to help with adhesion and nail protection, as well as a top coat to seal the color. Nail Lacquer takes approximately sixty minutes to dry however is dry to the touch within fifteen minutes when a great top coat such as Seche Vite is used. Nail Lacquer is great for manicures and pedicures, normally last up to thirty days on toes while a basic manicure normally last five days. Nail Lacquer is great on all ages and allows you to change color and art often.
Gel Polish - Gel Polish is a long lasting color that is applied in four coats also but has fourteen day wearability on fingers and over thirty days on toes. Each layer is cured with an LED or UV lamp which causes the layers to remain in-tact. Many are familiar with the brand Shellac and often call all gel polishes by this name however there are numerous amazing brands of gel polish such as Artistic Colour, Gelish, and Gelaze. Gel Polish is a good option for those that want their manicure to remain chip free, going on vacation, or just don't like waiting for the drying time of nail polish.
Acrylic - Acrylic is a nail enhancement that gives

n the Spring, many Americans will get up at the crack of dawn to get a glance at the much awaited wedding of the Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in London. Ms. Markle’s engagement ring is a
diamond sourced from Botswana surrounded by two smaller diamonds from the jewelry of Harry’s mother, Princess Diana. The ring was custom designed by the groom-to-be and created with the thought that Diana would be a part of their life’s journey. The thoughtfulness of the design and the use of family gems shows that Harry is clearly in it for the long haul as one would expect from a man of his stature.

ring holds enormous significance for a couple. It represents a forever promise and although a diamond is not always necessary for an engagement (many gemstones are beautiful) the diamond still remains the standard of excellence and measure of love and commitment. These days the name of the game is personalization with many brides opting for a unique design of their own.
Reputable jewelers range from a neighborhood shop to a Cartier, Tiffany’s, Harry Winston to a Jared, and Kay Jewelers. If you are in New York City, you can wander 47 Street between 5th and 6th Avenues which is called jewelry row and shop the booths for the best deal. You’ll find estate jewelry as well as new pieces. Buying diamonds online are surprisingly an option now. Blue Nile has been selling diamond rings online since 1999. They will send a plastic ring measure for free as the first step in the process and you can build and design a ring right there on the site. Meghan Markle’s ring is valued at upwards of $50,000 but any ring given to a bride-to-be in the sincere spirit of love and commitment is priceless.
Choices range in the four c’s: cut, color, clarity and carat. The metal options are white gold, platinum, yellow gold, and rose gold.

The days of pastel matching bridesmaid dresses are hopefully over. Brides realize that her maids in waiting want individualism—a dress suits their body type. Christian Siriano’s spring runway hits that note with a grouping of gowns that turn heads as they sauntered down the runway. His stunning show was diverse, with an array of drop-dead gorgeous models who strutted fearlessly down the catwalk proudly proclaiming that curvy girls are as beautiful as any. He relates his inspiration as follows, “My Spring 2018 collection feels like a dream, almost a psychedelic hallucination of what’s inside my fantasy greenhouse. The collection is playful, bold and feminine: a perfect mix of something new and exciting for our customer.” At WMB we’re with

KIMPTON HOTEL MONACO Kimpton Hotel Monaco is another of Baltimore’s special boutique hotels, located in the former B&O Railroad Headquarters in downtown Baltimore, near the Inner Harbor. THE FOUR SEASONS BALTIMORE HOTEL The Four Seasons Baltimore Hotel was one of the original properties built in Harbor East, Baltimore’s newest high end neighborhood at water’s edge. We at WBM hold this term to be evident with the house of Hermes. It continues to reign as king of luxury in our book for several reasons. But the ones we will focus on are customer service, craftsmanship and excellence. Those are labels, we feel can only be bestowed upon anyone, or anything by another who has had those experience with the subject in question. I have been a faithful consumer of Hermes for some time. 29 bridal gowns generally run smaller in size than evening gowns and dresses and designers use different techniques and fit models to create. Since most salons will show you gowns by more than one designer, keep in mind you may need a gown larger than your normal dress size. Don’t get caught up on the numerical size of the gown, if you love it, focus on the fit and how fabulous you look. Initial fit is also important for your purse. You will be charged for alterations, which can be very expensive. Some salons offer all-inclusive packages while others are strictly a la carte.

In today’s American Society there seems to be a huge amount of restaurants that have taken over neighborhoods. Do you think it has an impact on the weight and health concerns we face? Restaurants and commerce is a wonderful thing for our communities and economy. The issue is really our ability to self regulate, not to overuse our will power and our own accountability.
