Located in Bradenton, Florida, G.T. Bray Park and Recreation Center is approximately 10 miles away from Anna Maria Island. The park has been servicing the surrounding communities since around 1985 and is dedicated to George G.T. Bray, who was awarded the Manatee County Distinguished Citizen Award in 1983. G.T. Bray Park is a fun and interactive place to take the kids. It has plenty of indoor and outdoor activities for all ages, including an outdoor playground with a tented area and interactive sensory game that can be rented for private events. There’s also a happy trail canine park attached for your furry ones, and a multi-purpose trail that accommodates bikers and joggers.

The park has a fenced-in outdoor playground along with swing sets for babies and kids. On the front left side of the building is a skate park that teens can practice on. icture a place full of mystical forests, fairy-like floral gardens, and structures that are filled with mystery and wonder. A place that literally looks like something you would see in your dreams. It may seem hard to believe that a world like this exists, but it does. Singapore’s Gardens by the Bay is a wonderous site with several gardens that seem as if they have come from a fantasy book. Step into a forest high up on the mountains and experience what it’s like to be in the clouds, walk through a dreamy floral garden or enjoy the natural beauty of the outdoor gardens. Gardens by the Bay has been named as the top attraction in Singapore on TripAdvisor, and for a good reason. Now, let's break down the marvels of this beautiful and unique garde

THE FLOWER DOME Walk into a springtime wonderland as you enter the Flower Dome, which was named the biggest glass greenhouse in the world by the Guinness World Records in 2015. The Flower Dome replicates the cool, dry weather of the Mediterranean and includes exotic plants from ﬁve continents that are on display in nine diﬀerent gardens. It’s the perfect place to visit during the spring and summer!

CLOUD FOREST You want to know what it feels like to be in the clouds? Then come on in and enter the Cloud Forest, a mystical and mysterious world up in the misty mountains. Explore the tropical highlands among the orchids, pitcher plants and ferns from the Tropical Montane, while you take in the amazing view and watch the spectacular indoor waterfall cascade down the mist-ﬁlled Cloud Walk and Treetop Walk. Doesn’t that sound so calming?

SUPERTREE GROVE The Suprertree Grove is probably one of the most unique and innovative parts of the Gardens. The Supertrees stand at about 25 and 50 meters tall, and make up huge canopies that provide shade during the day, with an exciting light show at night. You can get an up-close look at these creative, high-tech marvels by strolling down the OCBC Skyway that connects two of the Supertrees. This is an excellent place to take stunning photos and enjoy the natural, scenic beauty of the area. You can also go up to the Supertree Observatory for more amazing views of the Marina Bay area and the rich surroundings of the Gardens. The Supertree Grove is a great place to get away from the crowd and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Gardens.

F LO R A L FA N TA SY I was mesmerized by the beauty of this section of the Gardens. The Floral Fantasy is an actual dreamland with live plants, cut flowers, leaves and preserved flowers, creating a whimsical scene around you. There are four gardens in the Floral Fantasy section: Dance, Float, Waltz and Drift. The Dance garden has an array of colorful flowers that twist around in a mesmerizing manner, while the Float garden becomes an enchanting place where water from the brook glides through the landscape. Have a stroll through the calming forest of the Waltz garden and end your journey in a cave-like space in the Drift garden. You will feel as if you have just walked through a fairytale book. For an even more interactive experience, you can take a magical journey through the Gardens of the Bay on the "Flight of the Dragonfly" 4D ride in the Fantasy Theatre. Embark on a simulated adventure of a dragonfly’s path through the Gardens and discover a whole new world that lies ahead of you. This is a perfect way to end your wonderful visit to the Floral Fantasy Garden.

5 H E R I TA G E G A R D E N S Dive into the diverse history and culture of Singapore’s main ethnic groups and its colonial past through the interesting stories of plants. Explore the Chinese, Malay, Indian and Colonial gardens while learning about how all the plants are connected to the cultures of each ethnic group.

6 THE CANYON Visit the ‘rocky’ side of the Gardens in their newest attraction called "The Canyon," which features the largest collection of rock sculptures along a 400 meter long dragon-shaped trail. The Canyon comes to life with the help of renowned landscape architect Junichi Inada and includes more than 60 unique, ancient rock forms that are sourced from Shandong, China. Along with these one-ofa-kind structures, there are more than 200 plant species surrounding the area as well as four sculptures in the form of a huge dragonﬂy, a metal dragon and two Chinese totem poles.

SERENE GARDEN Another one of the Garden’s newest attractions is the Serene Garden, which is a special horticultural garden inspired by the minimalist Japanese Zen gardens. Take a relaxing stroll through the garden while enjoying the view of the city’s beautiful skyline. Plus, the Serene Garden is just a short walk away from the Supertree Grove. Gardens by the Bay truly is a magical sight to see and is not an attraction you want to miss. Even though it may seem like gardens can be boring, trust me when I say that this garden is not at all dull. Anyone can become dazzled by its natural beauty and intrigued by the mysteries of this wonderous garden. This is one of Singapore’s best kept treasures, so don’t hesitate to book your trip soon. s the weather begins to warm, I'm reminded of a trip I took years ago, and I’d like to share it with you in the hopes that you take the same trip and have an amazing time. A friend and I decided to visit Canada because we had both never been. Before we crossed the border, we visited Niagara Falls State Park in New York. If you have never seen the Falls in person, I urge you to go as soon as you are able. It is an absolute natural beauty.

I was so mesmerized by the views that I just barely remembered to take pictures. We explored the park as much as possible and ventured into what is called the Cave of the Winds, which allows you to view the Falls from as close as possible. It can be slightly daunting to face, but I assure you it is a completely worthwhile experience. The Maid of the Mist is a boat tour of the Falls that steers you past the base of the American Falls and Horseshoe Falls, and provides a souvenir rain poncho. While we unfortunately did not experience the tour — but plan to go back soon — it was clear that it is a favorite part of visiting the park as crowds lined up in large boats to venture onto the Falls. There’s also an aquarium and observation tower at the park, as well as ﬁreworks displays, restaurants, a theater and gift shop. So, next time you’re in New York and near the park, consider planning a visit. I am certainly planning mine as we speak!

There's an essence to the Mambembe Hostel that makes you feel like you're living in a house with 25 awesome roommates instead of 25 random strangers. The doors are open, the people are open and if you didn't have a refreshing experience that restored your faith in humanity, I must question, how open were you to the experience? Every day you can ﬁnd someone to spend the afternoon with at Ipanema Post 9 until sunset, and once the sun sets is when things start getting really interesting. It's where the real story of Mambembe Hostel and the true underlying personality start. We begin the journey from Ipanema to General Osório metro station, hop on the Orange Line and sail through time and space across town to the Cinelândia stop. Once outside, you are greeted by either the grand opera house or the bustling street, and you ﬁnd your way to the Arches of Lapa. You choose one of two routes — neither will be completely easy in the beginning because of the steep incline — but the destination makes it completely worth it. Upon arrival, you are guaranteed to see at least one smiling person on the balcony either smoking a cigarette, drinking a beer or playing a guitar — and sometimes you'll see all three.

After you take a shower and relax for a bit, you find yourself being drawn to the smell of garlic in the kitchen where anyone from the house is preparing a meal for the whole team. After you've shared dinner with your new roommates, you'll find yourself on the front balcony looking out over Santa Teresa and the stairs. You'll share a few laughs in Portuguese, Spanish, English and every other language about world slang, traveling, the projects everyone is working on and about life in general. This place has embraced such a family environment for the fellow traveler that someone will bring a beer for everyone and personal stories are bound to be shared. Each Friday, you'll find yourself in Lapa either at a street party, samba club or at the cachaça bar daring to try a new flavor each time. Regardless, there will be live music and good spirit, which can coincidentally summarize Mambembe Hostel.

You could also get your own boats, ﬁshing poles and so much more. It truly is a wonderful park enjoyed by many locals and tourists. The Riverway Trail encompasses the Park from the east along the New River and to the south through Wildwood Park. It is a 3.5 mile paved bikeway and walkway, which can also be accessed from Bisset Park. You are sure to encounter some birds, dragons and damselﬂies, along with many other wildlife creatures that live in and along the water path.

Bisset Park is located in Radford, Virginia, along the New River. Upon entering the first parking lot on 49 Berkley Williams Drive, you'll see a kids' playground to your right that has a slide and swing sets for babies and kids. To your left, there's a picnic area with public barbeque posts and two tented seating arenas. A little further into the park is a gazebo alongside a midget and a junior soccer field. And even further, there are a couple of tennis courts for public use. 275-375 Berkley Williams Drive features a football field, a third picnic shelter and another rookie soccer field. Stretching along the right, there's a tube rental that operates out of Shelter 3 in Bisset Park, where canoes and inner tubes can be rented for use on the river.

What's so fascinating about this park, especially if you appreciate historical landmarks, is that at the far end of the park, which can be viewed from the riverbank, a Civil War Trails marker is located where the foundation of a bridge had burned during the Battle of New River Bridge. Bisset Park and all its glories surely satisfy a magniﬁcent park attraction. The park is truly one to visit whether you're passing through or looking for a new park to venture.

f you're looking for a nice getaway while in Europe, you should stop in Slovenia, a little country that is full of breathtaking scenery and local delights. This quiet country has a lot for tourists who like to go on the more scenic side in their travel. Everything you want to do doesn't seem too far away to get to, and there is a good balance of city and outdoor tourism. One of the tourist spots I got the chance to stop by and enjoy is Lake Bled. This little lake is quite stoic with a castle overlooking the whole lake and a church on an island in the middle. The area gives you a feeling of being in a fairytale. It's best to go during the summer months if you want to be surrounded by other tourists. If not, go during fall and spring to have more time for yourself. Another lake that isn't too far from Lake Bled is Lake Bohinj. I didn’t get the chance to take any photos because I didn’t want to ruin the moment. This place looks like somewhere straight out of a Twilight movie — the water is blue as can be and there is a tranquil presence. If you're more of a city tourist ,then you have to stop at Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. This downtown is full of life from all the sightseers

and locals, bustling with restaurants and a downtown market. This area will keep you busy for about two or three days. The pastry shops oﬀer a wide range of treats, and most waiters speak English. The downtown market in Ljubljana is teeming with life. Anything from antiques to food are sold here, which makes it the perfect place to go if you're looking to pick up a knick-knack for remember your travels. The area is nice, but if you're not good at dealing with large crowds then you should go early in the morning when they're setting up or later in the evening. With the wide selection of food to choose from, this market will satisfy even the most picky of eaters. From the downtown street markets, it's not a far walk to Ljubljana Castle. If you dont mind the walking you can take a hilly trail up to the castle or pay to take an elevator up. You can see all of Ljubljana from the top. There are also museums in the castle where you can learn about the castle and the capital of Slovenia. Slovenia is also known for whitewater rafting, especially on the Soca River. This country is full of activities to do. It is also home to one of our recent First Ladies. Overall, Slovenia is lovely country to visit and I encourage anyone willing to travel there to explore it.

The Northern Nights Music Festival is a pretty unique festival where music and nature become one with each other. Taking place at Cook’s Valley Campground in Northern California, it has become one of the most popular events in the area topping out at around 6,000 attendees a year. There is also arts and crafts, camping, yoga and more to check out. The campgrounds are especially fun because they include swimming holes and have the largest Redwood grove in the country where camping is allowed. And, if you are an electronic music fan, that’s a bonus because the musical lineup is mainly made up of electronic artists. As an avid world traveler and a flight attendant, I have been to more than 50 countries and have explored most of the United States. Having left my fair share of prized possessions in different hotel rooms and spent more money than I needed to in tourist destinations, I decided to come up with a checklist so you can avoid common travel mistakes. Each month, I'll offer a few travel tips designed to help you save time, money and energy. Preparation is the key to all successful travel adventures. Whether you're a solo or a business traveler, traveling as a couple or with your family, by train, car or plane, it's essential to understand missteps will happen but not to focus on the error. Instead, learn from it!

The ﬁrst step is to make a list of places you want to explore. Think outside the box and consider traveling in the oﬀ-season. The rule of thumb is that when school is in session is an excellent time to travel. May, September and October are all great months to travel in most parts of the world: the crowds have disappeared, travel and accommodations are less expensive, most tourists will be gone and the weather will still be mild — with a few streaks of warm weather. When school is not in session, think about going the road less traveled. While most people are waiting in long lines at popular destinations, you could be whitewater rafting in Idaho or seeing the breathtaking views of the Italian mountains of San Marino. We can explore beautiful cities and towns without having to deal with hoards of tourists. It's important to point out that the road less traveled can be as fun as the main drag, sometimes even better because you can feel the authentic energy of the location you have chosen to explore without all the crowds.

The next step is to decide how many days you want to spend on vacation, what you want out of your trip and where you want to go. To narrow your search, compare ﬂights and places to stay for the dates you're planning on traveling. This makes it easier to decide on a ﬁnal destination because airfare and accommodations could be unavailable or more expensive than you had planned. Now, create a budget of how much you want to spend for your entire trip, adding an extra $200 for unexpected costs. Your phone bill could be higher due to your location and data usage, or you

might pay more when converting money to diﬀerent currencies. Make sure to book travel insurance because most plans cover trip cancellations, interruptions and delays; lost, stolen or damaged luggage; and medical evacuation and emergencies. It's the one thing people think they should skip, but in fact, you never should. Worst case scenario, you get food poisoning or end up in the hospital — it happens to the best of us.
