Europe itself holds a lot of beauty from the scenic view of the Swiss Alps to the romantic canals of Venice

You must be wondering what Europe has in store for travel. I would have to say: a lot. The European region is home to 44 countries. Out of those 44, there are 27 that are a part of the European Union. This matters because most countries under European Union are visited for their travel and business. Europe itself holds a lot of beauty, from the scenic view of the Swiss Alps to the romantic canals of Venice. Europe is already known for its tourism and for any beginner traveler, I would say give Europe a try before anywhere else. Europe is also family-friendly, so if you have a family and want to start traveling with them, then Europe would be a good start. Don't fret if you're looking for a place to stay. It mostly depends on what sort of group you're traveling with, or if you are traveling alone. Travelers who want to meet a lot of people should most definitely stop by a hostel. A hostel is a low-budget accommodation for visitors. You will often share a room or bunkbed with others. Europe has many hostels, and if you're looking to meet people from all different walks of life, you must stop by one. If you're traveling alone, going to a hostel will always be an interesting experience. Even with a group, a hostel will make it fun meeting friends in different countries. In my experience, it is always fun to stop by one; they are always so full of life. If you don't want to stay at a hostel then use Airbnb, where you can rent a whole condo or house. Airbnb has made travel across Europe so much easier for me than anything else when it comes to finding accommodation.

The language barrier scares most people when they think of travel. Don’t let it stop you. It mostly depends on what sort of areas you're going to, and whether you're a traveler who likes to go to the most touristy spots or one who prefers the beaten path. Usually in the highly populated areas, there are many people who speak English, German, French and Russian, among other languages. The tourist spots hold many diﬀerent languages, so if you think the language barrier is going to be troublesome, I can guarantee you it won't matter. However, if you're going on an adventure outside the tourist spots, then you must take into consideration the language barrier you might face. I have a great fascination for Europe. The main or home country in which I reside currently is America, but after traveling to Europe several times, I wouldn’t mind adopting another country in this region to live in. I ﬁnd that some of Europe's architecture is truly astonishing. If you're a castle person, then look no further. Europe hosts lots of kept-up-todate castles, churches, vineyards and other architectural feats. Beyond its architecture, Europe holds a lot of unique views from my travels.

henever Spring Break comes around, people usually flock to places like Florida or California to enjoy the sun and sandy beaches. But, no one ever really thinks about visiting any other destination like, perhaps, Atlanta. Atlanta is not only Georgia’s capital, but is an amazing place to visit for Spring Break. There are so many fun and exciting attractions to explore. From having one of the world’s largest aquariums, a beautiful botanical garden or the adventurous Six Flags Park, there are plenty of entertaining places to see. Not sure where to start? Don’t worry. I have narrowed down the top five attractions that I believe will definitely make your Spring Break worthwhile.

1 THE GEORGIA AQUARIUM The very best and most popular attraction in Atlanta is the Georgia Aquarium (and for good reason). Not only is this the largest aquarium in the country, it is the biggest aquarium in the western part of the world. With its tanks containing more than ten million gallons of water, the aquarium has a really diverse set of aquatic animals to explore. There are whale sharks, beluga whales, California sea lions and African penguins, oh my! Besides enjoying the wide variety of animals, the aquarium oﬀers other fun activities too, such as a shark cage dive (which is their newest attraction), a swimming journey with the animals and a behind-the-scenes Highlight Tour of all the aquarium’s popular exhibits. This amusement park has some of the best roller coasters in the country, with thrilling coasters including "Batman: The Ride," the "Georgia Scorcher," "Goliath" and a free-fall drop tower called "Acrophobia" that is considered the epitome of a thrill ride. There are also familyfriendly rides that will give you the same adrenaline rush as any other of the park's exciting rides, such as the "Joker Funhouse Coaster,"

"Thunder River" and a dizzying "Poison Ivy Toxic Spin." Don’t forget to check out Six Flags Over Georgia’s newest water park called "Hurricane Harbor," which features the ﬁrst-ever hybrid zerogravity drop slide, "Tsunami Surge." music, then this is the perfect place for you. The Trap Music Museum is Atlanta’s newest art museum and was created by one of hip-hop’s most popular artists T.I. This museum focuses on the unique and gripping culture of trap music, while featuring noteworthy pieces in honor of some of the most iconic hip-hop and trap music stars like Nicki Minaj, Cardi B and Gucci Mane. There is also an escape room included in the museum to make your experience even more memorable. SCAD FASH MUSEUM OF FASHION AND FILM When I read about this museum, I knew I had to include it on this list. The SCAD FASH Museum of Fashion and Film is one of the most unique museums Atlanta has to offer (along with the Trap Music Museum). The museum celebrates fashion as a universal language, the importance of garments as one’s identity and film as a means of a memorable medium. SCAD FASH focuses on the future of fashion designing, discussing the different principles of the dress, whether it’s formal, festive or casual. One of their latest exhibitions showcases Academy Award-winning costume designer Ruth E. Carter’s iconic costumes from movies including "Black Panther," "Selma" and "Do the Right Thing." Anyone who likes fashion will love this museum, and even if you don't, it is still a pretty cool place to check out. 5 AT L A N TA B OTA N I C A L G A R D E N S The Atlanta Botanical Gardens is an amazing place to visit if you want to have a more relaxing day. It’s one of the loveliest sites in town with its wide variety of plant collections, beautiful displays and glorious exhibitions. The Garden has around 30 acres of outdoor gardens, an award-winning Children’s Garden, a special Canopy Walk through the Storza Woods, and an Edible Garden that features an Outdoor Demonstration Kitchen. There are dozens of spectacular pieces of art as well, such as sculptures, water features and the largest display of works by Dale Chihuly in any botanical garden. One of the most striking artistic structures in the Garden is the 25-foot Earth Goddess, which was the highlight in the 2013-14 Imaginary Worlds exhibition. It became a permanent collection at the Gardens after the exhibition closed. Anyone who visits will be stunned by its natural beauty. When you think back on the options you were provided with as a child regarding your future, what were they? Were you told about the many opportunities you had available to you? Like going to college, becoming a business owner, investor or inventor? Or were you simply told to go to college? If you are like most of us, you were most likely given one option, college, which isn’t bad advice, but why is it the only advice many of us receive? We live in a world of abundant opportunity, so why aren’t we provided with an abundance of choices for our future? Instead, most of us are told to go to college and ﬁnd a place in someone else’s company, for the expansion and development of someone else’s vision and dreams. But what about our own? GOING AGAINST THE GRAIN

Michael Blackwell and his wife Josie Blackwell both grew up with entrepreneurs as parents. They learned from their business failures and went on to create a few successful businesses of their own. Jam VIP Enterprise, a company that plans live events and parties, is just one of the family’s four business ventures.

The Blackwell’s installed the same values in their daughter at an early age. Starting at five years old, she often accompanied them to their different business events, during which they noticed she had an interest in the business world. Unlike many kids, she wasn’t shy when she interacted with people. She was no stranger to hard work either; she watched her parents juggle four businesses. The Blackwell’s went on a search to find a business platform that would teach their daughter about entrepreneurship. After months of research, they found nothing. They thought back on their own childhood and the lack of business opportunities they were given. They didn’t want the same for their child, so they decided to do something about it. PUTTING DREAMS INTO ACTION

The Blackwell’s began networking within the community and quickly realized that other parents felt the same longing for more business opportunities for their young ones. This is how the idea to start a “kid entrepreneur fair” came to mind.

Within the network they created from their many business ventures, the couple were able to ﬁnd partnerships and sponsors for the fair. They experienced success early on. After continuous success, they received advice from friends and mentors to turn the fair into a non-proﬁt, but were met with apprehension from the stories they were told about the process. "When thinking of all the tedious stuff we had to do to get started, the thought of the process was harder than the actual action," Mr. Blackwell said. “We wanted to do it a long time ago but were told there were too many steps. After going through the process, we realized it’s not as hard as people think. And the IRS is a great place to get information on starting a non-profit." Just like any new idea, there were hiccups and obstacles along the way. The Blackwell’s laughed as they reminisced on the very first live event. "The beginning was rough, some of the layouts didn’t work, and we had more kids than expected. My wife and I did most of the setup. We had some volunteers, but most of the work fell on us. After some time, things were smooth sailing and fantastic from there on out,” Mr. Blackwell shared. As you can imagine the number of attendees has only increased. Just last year, more than 80 children participated in the fair.

Success for children at the fair is limitless. Not only do they learn how to create products and services, but they learn to market and sell them, which is vital no matter what path they take in life. The chances of establishing their business beyond the fair are more than a dream. The Blackwell’s have managed to have actual investors attend the event. “These investors are people we met through our business networking and some of them are mentors to us. They are interested in helping kids out. During an event, they will visit the venues, sometimes they will pick a kid out to invest in them or their idea," Mr. Blackwell explained.

Children have a naturally brilliant business mind due to their fresh imagination. The Blackwell’s have seen several ideas and creations from kids. Mr. Blackwell shared a few of his favorite standout moments. "One kid was able to create his own games using cardboard. It wasn’t your usual game either. This kid created buttons that were functioning. He had a huge line for the entire event. The other kids loved his games. He even had drawings and sketches of how he came up with the idea." "Another kid had stress balls that weren’t selling at first. He decided to create a game using a poster board. While visitors played his newly created game, he sold them stress balls. It took 20 minutes of thinking before coming up with a new idea but he re-branded and started to get sales." Mrs. Blackwell shared her memory of “a girl with Autism who had a lemonade stand with 40 different flavors. She was very shy and didn’t want to talk to the customers. I went over to try and boost up her confidence. After a little pep talk, she sold out her lemonade. She made $600. She came up with the idea of selling refills, that is how she made the majority of her sales. She was completely different from the shy girl that started out. I felt in that moment: this is why we are doing this."

It’s beautiful how quickly the mind of a child, when allowed to flourish, can turn failure into success. The Blackwell’s shared three stories of children, two of which were not successful in the beginning but with a little thought and persistence, they were both able to turn their errors into a profitable success. This is what is missing in our lessons to children today: the importance of the imagination. What these children get from the fair is bigger than the financial reward of building a successful business and becoming a businessperson. They learn the importance and value of being an individual with their own unique ideas and visions, and how to present those ideas to the world. GOING ABOVE E X P EC TAT I O N S

Beyond the fair event, sparks are lit within the minds of these little ones. Mr. Blackwell shared what some children have gone on to accomplish: “We have quite a few kids who are now pursuing their businesses. Some kids have become speakers, speaking to other children about the importance of being an entrepreneur." "A lot of them still keep in touch with us,” Mrs. Blackwell added. “We teach them how to start a business and go over their business plans with them. We explain to them the process, upfront cost and proﬁt they can expect to make. We use venture lab curriculum to teach them this."

With all the greatness the fair has to offer, the Blackwell’s still managed to kick it up a notch by offering prizes and rewards during the event. These prizes are to reward children for presentations, ideas and pitches. "During the actual events, we have volunteers that go around with questionnaire sheets and give each booth a score. This is how we learn their business potential and creativity. We also do live interviews during the event. We give them a microphone and they answer questions that appear live on Facebook, the kids truly enjoy the experience," Mr. Blackwell said. "We also have a rising star award through our social media page where kids can send us their business ideas and the board will go through and vote on a winner,” Mrs. Blackwell added. “The winner gets a certificate, 350 in cash and a trophy."

The Blackwell’s have thought this fair out to the smallest detail, bringing the world of business success alive for children in a major way. I speak a lot on imagination as I believe in the power of it for adults and children alike. But when we’re talking speciﬁcally about children, who primarily live in their imagination, and you bring to their reality the life of the successful businessperson they can become, I think it heightens their chances of accomplishing their goals tremendously. CONTINUING THROUGHOUT IT ALL

Kidpreneur fairs are held annually, but the pandemic has impacted the live events. "We are trying to do monthly virtual events if the circumstances allow, but it's just not the same,” Mrs. Blackwell said. “The children really enjoyed the live events. They tell us all the time how much they miss it.” AND THE JOURNEY CONTINUES

The Blackwell’s teachings will stick with and inspire these children for years to come. We can all become a part of it. Times

are uncertain and many businesses are closing, but as a community, we can ensure that a business as truly "essential" as this is able to return when circumstances allow. The Blackwell’s are successful business people who want to spread knowledge to children all over the world. Although they are currently stationed in San Diego, they plan to become statewide because there are children who travel from San Francisco just to attend the fair.

he sound of machines beeping, ultra-violet lights and routine medical checks describe the ﬁrst few experiences of a baby’s life. That is, of the babies in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, which admits 77.9 percent of 1,000 babies, according to Jama Pediatrics. Those numbers continue to rise. The most common reason for NICU admission is prematurity. But it doesn’t end there, an increased number of highweight babies are now being admitted to the NICU every year. Other reasons include medical concern, respiratory issues and controlled substance withdrawal. But with the increase of babies in need comes the rise of people willing to help. There is a new gang in town, well not necessarily new but hugely needed and deeply valued, we call them “The Baby Cuddlers” and the work they do is a vital point in the recovery of these infants.

I had the pleasure of learning about this volunteer role from Layah Blacksberg, the director of the volunteer and spiritual care program at the University of California San Diego Health. She gave me a better understanding of the day-to-day life of a NICU Volunteer Baby Cuddler. I’d always imagined the role rewarding, I mean, who wouldn’t want to sit around cuddling cute babies all day? Sign me up for the nearest opening! But thanks to my conversation with Blacksberg, my caring interest was answered, and I learned there is so much more to this role than the chubby cheeks and cute faces. I was invited into the world of Baby Cuddler reality, the tragedy and beauty of it all. Just Along for the Ride or is There Deeper Meaning Inside? The process of becoming a Baby Cuddler can be lengthy, and for good reason. Not only is there a long wait list due to the high amount of people that want to be cuddlers, but the program needs to ensure that the individual joining has a clear understanding of what is needed and expected. They want volunteers who understand the importance and seriousness of what they do. “Volunteers apply through the program website,” Blacksberg said. “Then they go through a vetting process. We ﬁnd out why they are interested in volunteering, we talk about what cuddlers do, and once accepted, they go through an online training program about generic hospital policies. After that, they advance to a more speciﬁc training with an actual NICU nurse. And before going on their own, they shadow another baby cuddler volunteer for hands-on training and experience.” In addition to ensuring cuddlers are in it for the right reasons, they also require that cuddlers have been vaccinated. During these trying times, cuddlers wear a mask, have their temperature checked and follow sanitation guidelines.

A Day in The Life Blacksberg said a typical day for a volunteer includes feeding, rocking, reading and singing to the babies. For babies who cannot be held due to certain medical conditions, they will rub them, offering the healing comfort of human touch. Volunteers also help nurses mix formula and wrap babies in warm blankets. “They just supply that extra level of support. They do a lot of stimulation for baby as far as touch and sound go, which is a huge part of healing for babies with parents that are not able to be there.” Admissions on The Rise Blacksberg also discussed the increase of babies admitted to the NICU and said the facility she volunteers at opened a new facility, which is now full, in 2016 to allow each family its own room. On the plus side, the survival rate for babies that enter the NICU is quite high. “There is a successful healing rate. The majority of babies get discharged home. Some babies can stay up to a few months in the cases where the babies are born within the 20-week stage. We see miracles happen every day.” When Bonds Are Broken? The survival rates are high, but casualties do happen. Because of this reality, there are systems and processes in place to help cuddlers and nurses. “In the event, a baby is lost, there is support for the volunteers and staff, as they do create connections and bonds with the babies,” said Blacksberg. “We provide access to a team of people that can help the volunteers. Sometimes a staff chaplain or a support group will assist. We have a moment of silence to process what has happened. Staff gather around each other and have a sort of service for the lost baby.” I think this is an amazing family of volunteers!

Celebration Time! I found fascinating the bonds that are created between the baby and cuddler. When I heard about the celebration parties on discharge day, I smiled from pure delight. “Typically, we have a graduation ceremony, if the baby’s family allows pictures, we will take some. We also have annual return parties where the parents can bring back babies for volunteer families to celebrate,” Blacksberg said. I think the celebrations are utterly amazing; I can picture smiles, songs and tears of joy as parents and babies go home to start their next journey. I Thought You’d Never Ask With everything these volunteers do, it is only natural to feel the need to help them out. Blacksberg details all the ways we can help the mission to heal these babies. “You can donate books or knit blankets, hats, socks and pillows, as the personal items really matter. It may sound silly, but ink pads are also a great donation and really needed. We use them to make cute pads of babies’ hands and feet for parents as a keepsake. Financial assistance is also needed to help pay for materials.”

In Closing This Journey After years of contributing to her line of work, Blacksberg has seen many things. The main thing she wants people to understand about this role and what the volunteers do is how “critical” it is. She added, “A lot of people think we just hold cute babies all day, but we oﬀer development for the babies. I am so grateful to lend a helping hand to the parents, doctors and nurses. I am excited to partner with all of them. f you ever wanted to go more eastward in your travels of Europe, past Germany or Austria, then you must stop by Slovakia. Don’t let the size of this country fool you. This country has so many things to offer travelers, from the scenic mountain views to their bustling town center. You will always see a tour group in the city center of Bratislava. The country is travelerfriendly in all aspects. So, if you're looking for some down time in your travels across Europe, this is a country you should visit. Slovakia is seasonal, so depending on what time of year you go, you will be met with different activities. Just visiting the capital alone will take at least two to three days to see all the city's attractions. I unfortunately didn't get a clear camera shot of the castle that's right next to the town center even though I've visited this country several times. If you're going to stop by a few days you must stop in the capital of Bratislava, which holds most of the main attractions for tourists and travelers. There, you will be met with wonderful architecture and a variety of restaurants. If you're catching a bite to eat in the town center, most people there will speak English. If you're adventurous and like a little more of a challenge, leave Bratislava and head toward the mountains in the east where you can find castles and hiking trails. Going out more eastward, you will find a slight language barrier

depending on the age of the person you're speaking to. Depending on your route of travel or way of traveling, Slovakia is fairly easy to get to. You can find a train that will take you close to the heart of downtown. The European train system is reliable, and once you have hopped on and off a couple times, you will be able to find your way around any train station in Europe. Accommodations aren't too hard to find; you can stay at a hostel and meet new people, or if you're looking for more private recommendations, depending on your budget, you can find that as well. .During summer through fall, you see the country full of life with summer festivals and numerous hiking trails. The countryside of Slovakia will take your breath away from the seamless greenery to the mountain hilltops. As the seasons change, you will see it in this wonderful landscape. These views are quite relaxing and soothing to the soul. I’m still scratching the surface of this wonderful country. There are many more places that need to be visited here. The people here are nice and friendly. Everyone I have met in this country has always been warm and welcoming. Having the chance to meet and speak to people from this country has been an honor. I still talk to these people to this day. I encourage anyone who visits this country to stop by and soak up some nice mountain views.

t. Simons Island is located in Glynn County, Georgia, and was established in 1736. It is the largest barrier island in the Golden Isles. Poet Sidney Lanier made St. Simons Island famous for penning the Marshes of Glynn in 1878. The poem explores the beauty and splendor of the salt marshes and how looking out onto the marshes made Lanier feel at peace when writing about his love for the majestic moss-covered oak trees lining the island. His writing also made his fellow southerners feel the same peace, even after the South lost the Civil War.

St. Simons Island is freckled with historic sites and attractions. Historians come from near and far to explore the St. Simons Lighthouse Museum, which was rebuilt in 1872 after being destroyed by the Civil War. Historians also explore the picture-perfect grounds where huge oak, holly and cedar trees stand tall around Christ Church, Frederica, one of the oldest churches in Georgia, where continuous service has been held since 1736. First of all, St. Patrick’s Day is a religious holiday that has been celebrated for more than 1,000 years. March 17th is the anniversary of the death of St. Patrick in the ﬁfth century. The Irish normally start the day by going to church, then the rest of the day is a “cheat day.” Since St. Patrick’s Day normally falls in the middle of the Lenten season, it is traditionally permitted to break Lent in order to celebrate the holiday with food and drink. So, rest assured, for those who give up alcohol for Lent, the pubs are always open on March 17, where it is tradition to drop into a pub’s patron’s drink, called “Drowning the Shamrock.” The theory is by downing more drinks with shamrocks, the more good luck for the next year is consumed. And green beer is not on the pub menu like it is in the U.S.

St. Patrick’s Day parades were not an actual occurrence in Ireland until around 1995, where the first parade in America happened in 1766 in New York City. But in Dublin, the festivities tend to take place over five days, which includes art shows, plays, concerts, fun fairs and parades. Looking for an oasis of chill to enjoy a light lunch and beverage within walking distance to shops, a greenway and independently owned restaurants? Any time I have a friend visiting Asheville, North Carolina for the ﬁrst time, I always bring them to Urban Orchard. Asheville is known as a thriving beer city, but over the past decade has added several cideries to satisfy those looking for a gluten-free drinking option with several ﬂavors and an alcohol by volume of 5 to 9 percent. My favorite cidery is Urban Orchard, which has been open since 2013, in the West Asheville neighborhood, close to the gritty and charming River Arts District. Urban Orchard is female-owned, utilizing 100 percent locally grown apples from nearby Hendersonville with rotating varieties of

delicious cider. They were rated the best place to drink cider in America by Food and Wine Magazine in 2017, and theNo. 1 cider establishment in the Southeast by the U.S. Association of Cider Makers in the same year. Certainly not all cideries are equal. Many have flavors that are sickeningly sweet and can give you a Halloween-candy-level hangover the next day. What makes Urban Orchard different is its ever-changing and always fun flavor selections that range from very dry to sweetbut-not-too-sweet with natural ingredients and no added high fructose corn syrup.

For the adventurous, these flavors can be mixed in a satisfying Wonka-like fashion.

A staple is the Ginger Campaign, a dry, zesty, ginger-packed creation that feels like drinking champagne. Try mixing that with the ’80s throwback “Tainted Love,” with a delightfully semi-sweet raspberry essence or “Sunglasses at Night” with ﬂavors of strawberry and basil. Some of their most popular ﬂavors can also be purchased in cans and brought home to enjoy later. Another reason to love this local cid-

ery are the many seating options and welcoming atmosphere. Cozy corner tables, surrounded by local artwork, form a nice nook for conversation or solo reading. Friendly bartenders banter at the bar. Upbeat and un-intrusive music plays at just the right volume. Create your own book club at the many high-top tables in the center of the room or sit with your laptop or a friend at the open window seats facing the street to enjoy the funky West Asheville scenery. Sample a flight of ciders and enjoy light fare such as bruschetta, a local charcuterie tray or a caprese sandwich with gluten-free bread options and delicious Voodoo chips. The contrast of these zesty, New Orleans-style chips with the sweet raspberry cider is a delightful paradox. If you are touring around the newly popular South Slope neighborhood in downtown Asheville, you can also visit their larger location there, but there is not a food option at this spot. The South Slope location has an awesome dance floor where local DJ’s, like Cousin TL from local non-profit community radio station, Asheville FM, get the floor cranking on weekends. Other local cideries in the Asheville area include: Noble Cider, Bold Rock, Black Mountain CiderWorks, Little Switzerland and Tree Rock Social Cider. Try them for yourself and see which places fit your mood on your next trip to town.
