DIANA MURRAY BENCH Some of their statements During the last couple of months, since the sudden death of Diana Murray, her son Alan , has been busily restoring one of the benches surrounding the greens.
You don’t give up the game because you get old, you get old because you give up the game.

A Point of Law It is not uncommon to see members and visitors alike, running on rinks in an effort to reach the head before their bowl comes to rest. This practice is prohibited by the club Bye-Laws i.e. Bye-Law 32. Running, jumping or sliding on the greens is prohibited at all times. Anyone seen committing any of these acts shall be verbally warned by a club officer, the Hon. Secretary notified and the offence recorded. A further offence will result in the player being asked to leave the green and if a club member, that person shall receive a written warning from the club secretary. Members who are subject to a second, or subsequent warning, may have their membership suspended for a minimum of two weeks.
Editor Late Results Today the ladies played and won a GSM League match against Bognor, 4337. On a very blustery day, the rink of Helen Jones, Sharon Pratt, Nora Grief and Pat Edmonds won comfortably but, unfortunately, the second rink skipped by Peggy Hayward lost. The Ladies Top Club team is looking forward to the County final to be played on Saturday 24th August at Horsham, starting 10:00. We wish them all the very best of luck.
On Sunday 18th August it was brought back to the Club with refurbished timbers and a new coat of paint together with a brass plate dedicated to Diana. It now sits in front of the balcony facing 'A' green.

PS John would like you to know that donations to Cancer Research in remembrance of Diana reached just short of £800. Thank you to all.

PAVILION POST County Patrons SCIBA Annual Patrons As we approach the start of the indoor season, SCIBA (the indoor county association) has changed their rules about Annual Patrons. It used to be that an annual fee of £2 was payable which allowed players to be eligible for selection for Annual Patrons games played during the season between West Division and East Division. (Pavilion are in West Division – the champions). From the season starting in September, this fee has been discontinued and all registered male playing members will be eligible to be selected for the games.
20/08/2019
The fixtures will be published at the end of August, and the games for which Pavilion will be asked to provide a rink, will be allocated. We will operate an availability list system. If you are interested in playing in these games (there is a match fee of about £10) please put your name up on the availability sheet.
SCB Vice Patrons SCB is the outdoor county association and, of course, they operate a different system i.e.
They are called Vice Patrons. They are co-ordinated and teams selected by the county not the club.
There are four Divisions. (Pavilion is in Division Four) There is an annual fee of £2 plus match fees, if selected. Members who wish to be available for selection must register on the appropriate form and pay their Annual Fee (through the club)
It might seem very early to be thinking about next outdoor season, but many clubs shut down at the end of the current season and the potential for recruiting Vice Patrons is lost. The Vice Patron matches are a great way to play at different venues and with players from different clubs. Speak to anyone who has been a Vice Patron in the past, and they will encourage you.
