PAVILION POST Touring Club
Salisbury 2017 Regarding the late summer tour to Salisbury in September 2017, we now have about forty-seven members going on the holiday. However I still have three rooms left on hold, so if anyone has since decided that they would like to join the tour please let me know a.s.a.p otherwise I shall have to relinquish these rooms back to the hotel. Don’t forget that you do not have to be a bowler to join the tour. I have just established that the total cost of the tour will be £365 per head, with the balance being paid to Don by the end of May, in order to comply with the early settlement required by the hotel.
Restaurant at the Milford Hall Hotel & Spa
Bembridge 2018 As previously mentioned there have been some internal administrative changes with the management of Warner Coast Hotel, Bembridge, whereby rooms will now be charged to us according to their category i.e. + seaview + patio etc etc., So the previous system of negotiating a block booking has now gone by the board. Notwithstanding the changes, I have provisionally pre-booked the same rooms that tourists had this year, for the tour in February 2018. If anyone was dissatisfied with their room please let me know a.s.a.p. The list for the 2018 tour will be up on the tourist club notice board shortly. Crime Prevention Fraudsters are sending out a high volume of phishing emails to personal and business email addresses, pretending to come from various email addresses, which have been compromised. The subject line contains the recipient’s name, and the main body of text is as below: ‘Hi, [name]! I am disturbing you for a very serious reason. Although we are not familiar, but I have significant amount of individual info concerning you. The thing is that, most likely mistakenly, the data of your account has been emailed to me. For instance, your address is:
Don’t click on links or open any attachments you receive in unsolicited emails or SMS messages. Remember that fraudsters can ‘spoof’ an email address to make it look like one used by someone you trust. If you are unsure, check the email header to identify the true source of communication (you can find out how by searching the internet for relevant advice for your email provider). Do not enable macros in downloads; enabling macros will allow Trojan/malware to be installed onto your device. Always install software updates as soon as they become available. Whether you are updating the operating system or an application, the update will often include fixes for critical security vulnerabilities.
Create regular backups of your important files to an external hard drive, memory stick or online storage provider. It is important that the device you back up to is not connected to your computer and If you think your bank details have been compromised, you should contact your bank immediately. If you have been affected by this or any other fraud, report it to Action Fraud by calling 0300 123 2040, or visit: www.actionfraud.police.uk.
A Different Approach DVLA scam, Important, so please read Beware all of you who licence your vehicle online. If you receive an email purporting to be from the DVLA asking you to update your details as they have a data base problem …. DON’T!! It will tell you if you fail to do so , your licence will be invalid. It will ask for your name, address and vehicle make, along with your credit card details and the three digit security number. It certainly looks genuine and even has a real link to the DVLA website. IT IS A SCAM TO ROB YOU!! Please share this to everyone you know! UK News
Social Committee With just three club members serving on the club’s social committee there are vacancies for at least another three positions on the committee. Three members are not enough to organise and manage a full calendar of functions for the benefit of the membership of the club. If you feel able to join the committee please speak to me a.s.a.p.,
