Pavilion ‘A’ Team Faux Pas The Pavilion ‘A’ team found itself at odds with the controlling body of the West Sussex Men’s League lately for apparently fielding players from Pavilion ‘C’ to play for the ‘A’ team. Seemingly it is a condition of play that where a club has more than one team in the same division, players cannot be interchanged between teams. Pavilion ‘A’ team were apparently deducted ten points and ninety-three shots by the controlling body for the indiscretions.

per last time. This will affect the prize money slightly, but I am sure you would all want to support the bar and kitchen anyway. The same rules as previously, except there will be a maximum shot difference of five allowed. I am looking for a minimum entry of sixteen pairs e.g. four leagues of four with the top two going through to the afternoon for the knock out stage. If the eight pairs that don't qualify wish to have an afternoon consolation event this can be arranged for an additional small entry fee as per last time. The event is open to both summer and winter members, Men, Ladies, Mixed and Juniors. Please deposit cash entry fees with the secretary or place cheques in an envelope into my pigeon hole for collection.
Warwick Davis Ladies’ Captain Monthly Report In the C&M league against Norfolk the ladies lost 34 to 41. However the friendly rink won 18 to 16. In the friendly at Pagham we lost 4451. Both Aldingbourne and Pagham cancelled matches as they were unable to field a team. In another close encounter the Ladies lost by eleven shots to the Men 87 to 98. The ladies won on 2 rinks skipped by Carol Artley and June Lewis both winning by 15 shots. County Double Rink against Crablands. Home team of Pat E, Ann B, Carol A and June won 20-13, the away team of Julie, Pat C, Sue and Marlene lost 11-26, so we lost over all by 31-39. Well done to everyone who played. Enjoy the rest of the season and may the sun continue to shine.

PAVILION POST Trentham Bowls Club Gala Day Following an early morning, (7.30am), dash down various motorways on Sunday 3rd July 2016, two teams of triples from Worthing Pavilion B arrived at Purley-on-Thames near Reading, Berkshire for the now Annual Gala Day at Trentham Bowls Club. Sixteen teams from the Home Counties, including the two from WPBC were divided into four leagues of four teams for the first ‘knock-out’ round of the tournament each playing three matches of seven ends. Pavilion teams were:Team A: Lead Pat Edmonds No.2 and Skip positions were shared by Keith Wadhams and Tim Baldwin. Team B: Lead Pat Cripps No 2 Marlene Hancock and Skip Warwick Davis. Unfortunately Team A lost their first match but proceeded to win their next two matches. Team B won all three of their matches and proceeded through to the semifinal. Another win here saw them in the final against a team from Shiplake. On the last end they found themselves holding the four shots required to win the match when the Shiplake Skip, with his last wood, took the match with a lucky ‘wick’. The day, run by Trentham Bowls Club, was very well organised, with a hot or cold meal provided by the Trentham Ladies. The day ended with a Raffle consisting of twenty plus quality prizes.
members would like to train to become coaches. Ten of us volunteered to take the plunge and we all attended a training course run by Jim Saunders of Crablands BC, passing our Level 1 th exam on the 11 October 2008. We attended a further training course in late January 2009; run by Jim, and after a trying time we all passed our Level 2 th exam on the 17 May 2009. Of the ten who started coaching, eight of the originals are still coaching today, one of whom being Graham Farley (Snr) Graham has shown himself to be a real asset to the club and the coaching team over the years. His quiet and patient approach was valued by the many pupils who attended the courses that he was involved in. He has also contributed to the many courses we have run over the years including marking & measuring and new bowlers opening drives and many of the corporate events we have held. We know he has been appreciated by the many pupils he has trained, who have gone on to become excellent club members, a fair proportion of whom are now county bowlers. Unfortunately due to Graham’s current health problems he has been forced to give up coaching, but we are delighted to say that he will still be continuing with his bowling. Our thanks go to Graham for the time he has given to coaching and we as coaches are sorry that he has been forced to come to this decision. However we hope to enjoy his company on the rinks for years to come.

Coaching Update
The club website continues to attract a phenomenal amount of activity. For those members who are interested here are the latest club website stats for June 1016:
Hits Graham Farley Retires During the 2008 AGM the club asked for volunteers to take up coaching. At the time the club had recently lost its two qualified coaches for personal reasons. Not having any coaches it was becoming difficult to recruit new members. A notice was put up in the foyer asking for volunteers to see if any

Reminders Just a gentle reminder members, of a few forthcoming bits and pieces. Please lend your support to the Muftith Night function on Saturday 6 August 2016 full details of which are shown over leaf. There is also a list in the lounge requesting volunteers to help with a repaint job on the front fences to try and improve our ‘kerbside appeal’ If you can spare an hour please sign up. Regarding security of the clubhouse, 2
PAVILION POST please ensure that the front door to the lounge is closed during the day when there are few people here. This is particularly important at around 4pm. So long as you have your fobs there should be no problem. Please note that we will be attending Broadwater Fayre in late July and volunteers to help man the stand on that day and try to recruit new members would be greatly appreciated. Please keep up efforts for recruitment. A total of nineteen new members have recently passed through the coaching programme. Very well done to all our coaches. Hope you can continue to enjoy the summer weather that we are promised.
PS: Don’t forget the all-day breakfast and the lunch menu available at the club. Fantastic value!!!

The board was pleased to thank Rick Baumann and a team of volunteers who are going to spruce up the entrance area to the club. A new permanent sign will arrive soon. The Board agreed to a request concerning the provision of a dart board in the lounge. This will be in position for the mufti night and thereafter. The board considered the current situation regarding finances and membership. Reports from responsibility holders were received. The board would appreciate identifying anyone with advertising / marketing experience with a view to advise on recruitment and advertising. Members of the board and club members will be in attendance at the Broadwater Fayre to try to encourage further recruitment. Members are reminded that minutes of the board meetings are available in the secretary’s corridor.
