WHAT TO WATCH NOW 2018 will be the best year yet for WSIU PASSPORT viewers! Like us, you’re probably anticipating the return of PBS’ hit drama series, VICTORIA on MASTERPIECE, scheduled to premiere on Sun, Jan 14 at 8pm. But, before you tune in for Season Two, catch up on all episodes of Season One on Sundays nights on 12/17 @ 8pm, 12/24 @ 8pm & 9pm, 12/31 @ 7pm, and 1/7 @ 7pm, 8pm & 9pm. Season One of VICTORIA is already available in PASSPORT, and all of Season Two will be available on 1/14/18. Youngsters (and the young at heart) will also enjoy extended access to the new adaptation of ANNE OF GREEN GABLES, as well as the heart-warming sequel ANNE OF GREEN GABLES: THE GOOD STARS, which premieres on Thanksgiving. Both programs will remain eligible for streaming via PASSPORT until 11/22/21. WSIU Radio’s KEVIN BOUCHER (photo at left) takes a walk in the woods with BENJAMIN SNYDER, a forester with the ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL WSIU’s Kevin Boucher. Photo: Charles Boucher. RESOURCES. Snyder shares insights about the current composition of the southern Illinois woods, focusing on the the negative impact caused by invasive species and the vital role of oak and hickory trees in maintaining our native ecosystem. Boucher also talks with KEVIN PURCELL, a local actor and director with the Stage Company of Jackson County, who explains what winter means to him as an artist. Finally, we talk with a group of youngsters, including Girl Scouts from the Metro East area who share their favorite things about winter and the holiday season.
