ATC WELCOMES MARY LOUISE KELLY You may have noticed a few changes on ALL THINGS CONSIDERED last month. Longtime program host, Robert Siegel, retired after 40 years of service in public broadcasting. NPR’s Mary Louise Kelly succeeded Siegel as program co-host in late January while former ATC co-host, Kelly McEvers, has parted with the broadcast to continue her work on the podcast Embedded.

NEW ANIMATED KID SERIES PREMIERES THIS MONTH Tune in Mon, Feb. 19th for a new PBS KIDS series that will encourage children to explore the arts and spark creativity! PINKALICIOUS & PETERRIFIC will join WSIU’s daytime line-up at 8am (replacing Curious George) and at 1:30pm (replacing Ready, Jet, Go!).

BICENTENNIAL COLLECTION: THE LEGACY OF ABRAHAM LINCOLN

WSIU Radio is celebrating the Illinois Bicentennial with a collection of stories focusing on the unique people, places, and history of Illinois. Tune in for special bicentennial features airing at 7:44am and 4:44pm throughout the month. THE LEGACY OF ABRAHAM LINCOLN | SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 3 In honor of President’s Day, we’ll take a look at the amazing story of Lincoln’s popularity, explore his humble beginnings, his well-known debates with Democratic Senator Stephen Douglas, and his launch into the national spotlight. The interview features discussions with Dr. Samuel Wheeler, former Illinois State Historian and Director of Research, Collections, and Library Services at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library & Museum. We’ll also hear from local historian Mark Motsinger, a Carrier Mills/Stonefort High School Social Studies & History Teacher and President of the Saline County Historical Society, as well as Dr. James M. Cornelious, Curator for the Lincoln Collection at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library & Museum.
