Grantchester SEASON 2

Sundays 8pm March 27-May 1 Photo: Red Productions Ltd 2015

It’s 1961 and Poplar is beginning to feel the winds of social change. In new episodes, the midwives and nuns of Nonnatus House encounter complex and challenging cases, from an outbreak of typhoid to the increase in lung cancer, a pregnant teenager, and a mother who vanishes. All are shaken when, several months apart, two babies are born with severe deformities. As they struggle to understand why, they must find ways to deal with the resulting medical and emotional fallout.

Whiskey-drinking, jazz-loving vicar Sidney Chambers and Inspector Geordie Keating return for another round of mysteries on the MASTERPIECE series GRANTCHESTER. Together, the sensitive vicar and the hard-bitten cop make perfect crime-solving partners. James Norton and Robson Green star in a new season that focuses on matchmaking, as well as murder, in a small country parish. Photo: Des Willie/Lovely Day for ITV and MASTERPIECE

Acoustic Nature Hour Earth Day Special

Among the highlights are an in-depth interview with Bob Baer of the SIU Carbondale Physics Department who explains why the “dark site” south of campus will be an ideal location for viewing the 2017 total solar eclipse. Boucher also talks with Elizabeth Jones, Assistant Manager of the Cypress Creek National Wildlife Refuge, and Karen Mangan, Wildlife Biologist, who lead a tour of the 30,000-acre site’s most striking features. Finally, local birder Cindy Allen leads a sound-rich journey at the annual Hummingbird Festival in Union County.
