The series follows the adventures of Leo, a wombat from Australia; Carmen, a butterfly from Mexico; and Andy, a frog from the U.S. as they travel the globe with their parents’ performance troupe, “Circo Fabuloso,” and learn about other cultures. At each stop, Luna the Moon, voiced by Judy Greer, guides the trio as they get to know the local region and its people through food, music, art, architecture, and other features that make each location unique. WSIU and the Carbondale Library hosted a free Indie Lens Pop-Up screening and discussion of the Independent Lens film Dawnland at the library on Sunday, October 14.
Twenty people attended the screening, which was moderated via videoconference by Mishy Lesser, Ed.D., Learning Director for the Upstander Project and Education Fellow at the University of Connecticut. Guests said they gained insight about Native peoples and learned valuable lessons on how people should relate to one another. “Being a neighbor means sharing community and culture,” said one guest, while another commented,“Being a neighbor means to treat others how I want to be treated, to be of service to fellow human beings.”
