Deconstructionism Now there’s a big word for you all! Some French philosopher by the name of Jacques Derrida aptly coined the term to describe the process of breaking down established forms. Sounds cool and uhmmm French? Not really, we’re probably seeing it around us but not necessarily realizing what it is. Take for example the winter season we just experienced. That’s some form of breaking down established forms isn’t it? Everything dies...but then resurrects again during Spring time. In fashion you can see it in the works of designers Rei Kawakubo, Karl Lagerfeld, Martin Margiela, Ann Demeulemeester and Dries Van Noten. If those names don’t sound familiar to you brush up on the your fashion will ya? On Apple TV, check out M2M for some fashion news and features. You’re sure to encounter those designers and their designs. If you’re wearing distressed or torn clothing that’s deconstructivism for you right there but that’s just scratching the surface. It is more than just distressed or torn up clothing. It’s all about bringing what may be called anti-fashion. See, what did I tell you? It’s all around us and you probably don’t realize it. Okay, okay you don’t need to go as far as tearing your clothes off...we’ll let Don Poling and his models do that!

Last Sunday, Gianna Reynolds of Kuriio and her partner in crime, Casey Reynolds of Antelabel, successfully presented their multimedia fashion show at the House of PoP in Spokane, WA. Months of planning, filming, designing, and sleepless nights went into the production for #antearmy’s #nooskool. Last month’s issue introduced the #antearmy crew. If you haven’t had the chance to read last month’s issue you might want to check it out on https://issuu.com/wtffashion/docs/mar2018issuu So...it is spring time -- finally! If you’re local to the Eastern Washington/North Idaho area you might want to check out an upcoming fashion show at the historic Panida Theater on May 5. Stop what you’re doing right now and put it down on your calendar! What are you waiting for? Do it! Hailey Hines of Planted Roots Productions is producing this runway fashion show where all proceeds go towards the Panida Historical Society in Sandpoint, Idaho. By the way, Hailey is also featured in the Fashion Designer pages in this issue wearing designs from Nicholas, Marni, and Prabal Gurung. And finally, it is spring time! You heard me say that a few sentences ago and I’m saying it again -- it is finally, spring time! If you’ve been putting off getting your hair done because of the winter months, perhaps it’s time to “deconstruct”. Visit your favorite hair dresser. If you don’t have one, go see the amazing crew at House of PoP at 227-C W Riverside Ave, Spokane WA.
