FASHION’S MY LIFE by Angelana Maria Danielle Perez More Tinsel Please Shimmery fabrics, sky-high hemlines, beaded necklines and molten, high-shine wet looks conjure up what’s arguably our chicest holidays yet! From Vuitton’s smart chic knit wares under a gleaming noir a-frame to sparkling body-cons we’ve plenty in mind for the celebratory nights that shall ensue! These wares won’t hit stores until well after the New Year’s fetes are over, however... they do offer up plenty in the way of inspiration ^_~ If glimmer isn’t your glamour then perhaps take a page from Christopher Kane’s book of bold cutouts that look pretty damned cool and party-appropriate in leather and satin for all those yuletide daredevils out there. Tensely Felt Give it a feel of harsh futurism by keeping it slick and sleek or glam it up like the classic silver screen frill velvety touch shown by Viktor+Rolf as well as several others and embellished details on a feminine silhouette. A-symmetry Another rather more subtle eye catching trend with a feminine flair is the a-symmetrical hem seen at Dior, Jay Ahr, Lanvin, Nina Ricci and Viktor + Rolf which is quite a testament to its intrigue in the fashion world of designers.

The Tradition of Gift Giving It’s that time of the year when everyone is focused on one thing – giving gifts. We move heaven, earth, and sky and any mountains in our way to find that one perfect gift to bestow to our loved ones. No other event kicks this frenzy off than what many love or dread like “Black Friday”. It’s that one tradition that is so prevalent and pervasive as we find ourselves hauling off those precious bargains of gifts ready to be wrapped, tagged, and stashed under our Christmas trees. Consumer electronics, apparel, and toys are the main gift categories. It seems that there is always a new must-have gadget or toy as each holiday season approaches. With consumer electronics and toys, it is always easy to spot the ones that hold sway and capture the imagination of the hoi polloi. With clothing (fashion), it’s not as cut and dry. So how do you pick one or two to give as gifts so that you won’t go wrong? If someone were to ask you what single piece of clothing was the most essential wardrobe piece in a woman’s closet would you know the answer? Women have been told over the years that the one piece of clothing that they can wear anywhere is that “little black dress”. More than any designer, it was Coco Chanel who was the one that made it ubiquitous. She was not the one who invented the concept but according to Coco Chanel : The Legend
WTF 60 wtfezine.com
and the Life (by Justine Picardine), “the little black dress was not formally identified as the shape of the future until 1926, when American Vogue published a drawing of a Chanel design…It was an apparently simple yet elegant sheath in black crepe de Chine, with long, narrow sleeves, worn with a string of white pearls; and Vogue proved to be correct in the prediction that it would become a uniform…” When Alexander York Salon owner, Chere Perrigo conceptualized the shoot for our fashion editorial revolving around the concept of the gift of fashion, she immediately associated the little black dress as that one gift of fashion from Coco Chanel who was mainly responsible for making it de rigeur. For indeed as you will see, that little black dress is so elegant and can come in many flavors and styles that transcends time and generations. It is truly a gift that lasts a lifetime that you simply can’t go wrong. Finally, remember the reason for giving the gift and not get caught up in the hullabaloo! Thank you for your continued support in our work. This is, as always, our gift to you and yours. Merry Christmas everyone!
