The Heat is on... Summer is finally here! It took quite some time for summer to arrive and for a while there, it looked like it had changed its mind. There were days when it felt like either spring had never left or that fall has suddenly made an appearance supplanting the summer heat. There is a saying in North Idaho that goes something like this -- “If you don’t like the weather, wait a few minutes”. It may be warm and sunny in the first few hours of the morning and then the winds can suddenly kick up and the clouds cover the sun and the temps can drop a few degrees making it necessary for sweaters or a wind breaker jacket. This condition made it a bit of a challenge to shoot with our models at our usual lake side locations because the water is almost always cold! Regardless of what the temps are, the sunsets in the Inland Northwest are always something to watch out for. When the sun sets and there are clouds in the sky, different hues can be observed and are a treat to the senses. The beauty of the Inland Northwest not only manifests itself in nature, but also in the women that grace its natural beauty. Every summer, July’s issue is dedicated to smart and confident women who look good in swimwear fashion. And the best location for shooting summer swim fashion is none other than Lake Coeur d’Alene.
Lake Coeur d’Alene was once named by National Geoggraphic as one of the five most beautiful lakes in the world. It is a natural lake fed by the Coeur d’Alene river and the St.Joe river and the outlet is the Spokane river which flows to the west to join the Columbia river finally making its way to the Pacific Ocean. The lake is named after the French name for the tribe of American Indians who lived in this region when French fur traders began to arrive in the late 18th century. The name is French for “heart of the awl”. Every winter, Lake Coeur d’Alene is a migratory stop for the bald eagle. Each December and January, large numbers of eagles return to Beauty Bay to feed on spawning kokanee salmon and are prime targets for photographers who specialize in wildlife and nature photography. For golfers, the Coeur d’Alene Resort Golf course is a must to experience the famous landmark Floating Green. For the uninitiated, it is a part of the golf course’s 14th hole and it’s floating on the lake “connected” from the rest of the golf course via an electric boat. So, without further ado, let us introduce you to our summer swim models... Alex, Andrea, Brianna, Cheyenne, Eric, Kayla, Kaylan, Lexi, Mikayla, and Mollie. Check this issue out at summerswimissue.com
