Summer Vacation : Make Memories For many, the arrival of summer is a welcome respite from the dark, dreary, and cold winter months. Children look forward to being out of school and having fun during the hot summer months.
If you’re a golf enthusiast, there is no better place to golf than at the Coeur d’Alene Golf Resort where the famous floating green is located. While there, you and your friends can take a dip in the lake or at the infinity pool.
Everyone welcomes the sunny days thinking about road trips, camping, and days at the beach or by the pool.
If you love to hike or bike, there are many hiking and biking trails. The Hiawatha Trail at the Idaho-Montana border offers a 15 mile downhill bike ride which can take a leisurely 2-1/2 hours. This adventure includes biking over seven high trestles as well as nine cavernous tunnels. The Taft tunnel is a 1.7 mile long unlighted tunnel and a riding adventure that you won’t want to miss.
Summer is definitely a time to make some unforgettable memories. There are adventures around the corner that will make you smile for years to come and you just have to make sure to document them. The best summer memories are those spent with loved ones on adventures that involve a lot of interaction. Road trips don’t have to be boring because it’s really all about the journey as much as it is about the destination. National parks are best explored on road trips that take you down winding paths and remote but interesting locations. If you’ve never been to Arches National Park in Moab, Utah, you might want to ask some friends to go with you on a road trip. Spokane photographer, John Austin, ventured on a road trip with friend and model Becca Forrester and captured some amazing scenery on their trip. You don’t really need to go far on a road trip either if you want to enjoy the outdoors. Simply pack a picnic basket with some goodies and head out into the countryside. Brooke McCormick had the right idea when she packed a picnic basket on a short trip to one of the conservation areas in the Spokane/Cheney area. Relaxing under the sun gave her the break she needed as well as giving us the opportunity to capture something for our editorial.
If you’re looking for hiking trails you might want to check out the following: Iller Creek/Stevens Creek/Dishman Hills Conservation area, Palisades Park, Dishman Hills Natural Area, Liberty Lake Loop, Mt. Kit Carson Trail/Mt. Spokane State Park, Palouse Falls, Bowl and Pitcher/Riverside State Park, Knothead Loop/Little Spokane River, Tubbs Hill/Coeur d’Alene. Our favorite, of course, is Tubbs Hill in Coeur d’Alene mainly because it’s right by Lake Coeur d’Alene where you can take a dip in the lake when you’re done hiking. Whatever you decide to do, make sure to enjoy the heat of summer and document your adventures. Have a great summer vacation!

Arches National Park lies north of Moab in the state of Utah. Bordered by the Colorado River in the southeast, it’s known as the site of more than 2,000 natural sandstone arches, such as the massive, red-hued Delicate Arch in the east. Long, thin Landscape Arch stands in Devils Garden to the north. Other geological formations include Balanced Rock, towering over the desert landscape in the middle of the park.
