The F word The Scent of a Woman “It's not very easy to grow up into a woman. We are always taught, almost bombarded, with ideals of what we should be at every age in our lives: "This is what you should wear at age twenty", "That is what you must act like at age twentyfive", "This is what you should be doing when you are seventeen." But amidst all the many voices that bark all these orders and set all of these ideals for girls today, there lacks the voice of assurance. There is no comfort and assurance. I want to be able to say, that there are four things admirable for a woman to be, at any age! Whether you are four or forty-four or nineteen! It's always wonderful to be elegant, it's always fashionable to have grace, it's always glamorous to be brave, and it's always important to own a delectable perfume! Yes, wearing a beautiful fragrance is in style at any age!” ― C. JoyBell C. Aristotle, a Greek philosopher, theorized that human beings have five senses. Two of these are based off of chemical reactions. The sense of smell is one of them. As a chemical sensor, the olfactory system detects food and influences social behavior as well as playing a part in the game of attraction. We sniff out to discover and inhale to devour. It’s springtime and it is time to smell the flowers. In fact springtime reintroduces odors and fragances that have been suppressed by the winter months. But did you know that there are certain fragrances that drive away men? Anything that smells like food like sweet and fruity will only make men think of food and most men agree that food smells should stay in the kitchen. Surprisingly too, floral scents keep guys away. Whenever a guy smells something overpoweringly floral they associate it with old ladies. So unless you want to be perceived as an old lady, keep away from floral scents on your body. Anything powdery will remind men of their mothers so unless you want to mother him ditch the powdery fragrances. And if he prefers you to smell like his mother, be careful – he might very well be a momma’s boy!
And finally, don’t smell like a broken heart. Scent is one of the strongest ties to memory. If you smell like his ex, chances are all that baggage he’s carrying around might start to suffocate you. What then is the key? Well, how about normal body odor. Women spend a lot of time disguising their natural scent with body washes, and perfumes, which interrupt the natural process of attraction. John Austin teamed up with Alexandra Collins to bring some of that natural scent of a woman that can be a result of working out and getting in shape from exercising and treating the body right. We also teamed up with paper flower maker anemone to welcome spring and portray the dichotomy of the yin yang. Yang is the sunny place, which is the brighter element. It is active, light and masculine and corresponds to the day. Yin is the shady place, the darker element. It is passive, dark and feminine and corresponds to the night. Yin and Yang is the balance of nature. In Chinese philosophical thought, maintaining balance is essential to life. And finally, earthy fragrances are best experienced in the four elements of earth, wind, fire, and water. Glen Dow Academy keeps their students on their toes by helping them practice their skills and what they learn at the school by supplementing it with actual styled photo shoots of which we are a supporter and part of. Women are known to have a more heightened sense of smell than men. In fact women use their advanced sense of smell to determine their level of attraction to men. Whereas guys place a high level of importance of physical attraction, women place a higher level of importance on how a man smells. Unpleasant odors and scents influence how women perceive men’s attractiveness. New research shows that men actually look more attractive when they smell great.

ESSENTIAL OILS by Alyssa Perez
Essential oils can seem complicated. Do you diffuse them, cook with them, wear them as purfume? But they are not. You can do any of the above. And then some. Many people believe they have no experience with essential oils and the qualities of them. However; if you’ve ever enjoyed the scent of a rose, you already have. Rose, lemongrass, and cedarwood, are all found in many perfumes or beauty products. Just check a few of the ingredients labels on your favorite products and you may be surprised to see how many you’re already using. Some use oils not just as purfumes, but in a diffusor for their aromatic benefits to the nervous system or health benefits as well. For example, wild orange is energizing; lavender is calming; and peppermint can be great during cold season when you tend to be congested. Beyond home use, some businesses and spas use these to set a feeling or simply for their great scent. Oils are often even used during spa facials, massages and mani/pedis in some of the most high end resorts and salons in the world. The benefits of pure oils go far beyond aromatic and topical uses. They can even be ingested. While that may sound far fetched, imagine a drop of lemon oil in your water, peppermint in your hot chocolate or basil in your tomato soup. Some use them periodically, while others use them in all areas of life daily. Whether you’re looking to start off small, or jump in headfirst, we’ve included some tips and links below to get you started. We reccomend dõTerra essential oils. They are CPTG (Certified Pure Theraputic Grade). This means that their oils have the highest quality of active beneficial constituents and are free of contaminants or adulterations. Have questions or want to place an order for your very own oils? Click on the link below. http://www.mydoterra.com/bethmmoug/ Already using essential oils and looking for some DIY projects for beauty or cleaning products? Here’s another great source on facebook look for All About DIY w/ Beth Moug. The trick is, start off with where you are comfortable, and grow your knowledge and oil collection from there. One promise I can make, is that you will not be disappointed with the results of these amazing pure oils if you give them a try.
MODEL SAFETY TIPS Modeling can be a rewarding and fun endeavor. Oftentimes though, models tend to overlook some basic safety procedures in the pursuit of their craft. We won’t state the obvious here but instead we’ll offer some practical tips that you may not have considered.
#1 - Get a GOOGLE VOICE number Don’t give up your phone number to just anyone, instead get a Google voice number that you can use to forward calls and text to. Reference: http://www.wikihow.com/Get-a-Google-Voice-Phone-Number
#2 - Set up GOOGLE Alerts Google alerts allow you to keep track of search terms such as your name. If you set up a Google alert using your name as the search term, you will receive an e-mail alert whenever someone uses that to search. Reference: http://www.bloggingbasics101.com/how-to-set-up-a-google-alert-and-why-its-a-good-idea/
#3 - Take a selfie with your photographer The best way to identify who you are working with is to get their photograph with you before you start shooting. This accomplishes several things. Every move we make nowadays is tracked. When you take a selfie and you post it on facebook, the location is tagged and the date and time are also included. In other words, the selfie establishes proof if you need it at a later point in time for your personal protection.
