Jennifer Zetlan as Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

From OperaDelaware In 2019, OperaDelaware presented a festival that included the contemporary opera Scalia/Ginsburg by Derrick Wang. The work focuses on the friendship between Supreme Court Justices Antonin Scalia and Ruth Bader Ginsburg, whose politics were very different but who were brought together by their mutual love of opera and their mutual respect for the law. Wang’s text is taken from the Justices’ actual legal rulings and opinions, and the composer’s musical inspiration, he said, came from “a long line of operatic tradition” from Mozart to Puccini. As a bonus, also enjoy Trial by Jury, an 1875 musical farce that was Gilbert & Sullivan’s first major success.
