A Message from Jonathan our Trustee

Hello WUM CKI!

With tremendous gratitude, it is an honor to be serving you all as your International Trustee for this Circle K term. I’m psyched beyond belief to represent the great District of Wisconsin-Upper Michigan on the International level and can’t wait to attend your events to the fullest extent possible! My aim is to get to know WUM as best as I can and to support all your endeavors in the most achievable ways possible. As your International Trustee, I’d want nothing more than to immerse myself in the ways of WUM and to get an inside perspective on how your district achieves its success. With the challenges put in place because of the global pandemic, we can only go up from here! Let’s move forward together and show our communities what makes Circle K International special and recognizable. Fortunately, Circle K International has awarded us with a stellar pairing of Districts that we all get to collaborate with, known as our sister districts (aka, SISTRICTS). Those include: The LouisianaMississippi-West Tennessee District, the Indiana District, and the Caribbean District. Together, we make for an all-star team of leaders that no other student led organization can match! As your Trustee, with my passion and commitment to service, together, let’s focus on a post pandemic recovery that’ll get us reaching for the stars and on a path towards organizational growth. As the leaders of tomorrow, only we stand in the way of what we can/can’t achieve. Thank you for your cooperation and let’s go and get serving till the cows come home! Yours in Caring and Service, Jonathan Varano

WUM CKI Theme 2021-2022 Hello WUMderful Members. We have some exciting news. If you haven’t heard, this year we are focused on you WUMderful members. Our motto for the year: 3-6-5 for WUM CKI. Our goal is to recruit as many new members as possible and celebrate all of our members throughout the year through various methods. To start this celebration of our members, we would love to hear your reasons why you joined and stayed in CKI. If interested, please contact Kiara at bulletin@wumcki.org or Douglas at superior@wumcki.org for more details. Along with the CKI Whys we will be putting on district challenges for clubs to go head to head. The first challenge is to join The District Board in the WASH 6K challenge throughout the month of October. We challenge each club to also do the WASH 6k Challenge throughout October using as many members in your club as possible and take plenty of photos to send to Kiara at bulletin@wumcki.org. Some of the photos may be posted to our social media to show off all of the WUMderful work that is happening. Stay tuned for the other district challenges we will be having during the year!

Kiwanis Family Picnic Reflection Hello, all of you WUM-derful Circle K members! My name is Elizabeth Johnson and I am the Wisconsin-Upper Michigan District of Circle K’s Kiwanis Family and Outreach Chair for 2021-2022. On August 20, 2021, I organized a new event with the Wisconsin-Upper Michigan District of Kiwanis to kick off their 2021 District Convention! This super, awesome, and fun event was our first ever Kiwanis Family Picnic. With an attendance of around 80 Kiwanians, 15 Circle K members, and four members of Aktion Club, we all had a blast eating hamburgers, listening to music, and of course playing some exciting games. At the picnic, we fundraised for Camp Wawbeek, an Easter Seals camp within Wisconsin Dells that provides an opportunity for individuals with disabilities to have a summer camp experience. The primary fundraisers were bingo and our cornhole tournament, upon which we raised over $170 for Camp Wawbeek! A huge thank you to all that participated in our picnic festivities and donated to one of Circle K’s near and dear organizations. I had so much fun with members of the Kiwanis Family at the picnic! It was such a wonderful opportunity to be in person, celebrating a fantastic service year of Kiwanis, and have the opportunity to get competitive with cornhole and bingo. Having the opportunity to be social, laugh, and be in person together, especially in the world we currently live in, is so special and meaningful. I know I will not be able to forget the memories I made at the picnic. I look forward to working on more events with the Kiwanis Family throughout the rest of my term, especially the Kiwanis Family Hockey Night! I would just like to say a big thank you to Rosemarie Dick, Olivia Groenewold, the WUM CKI District Board, and everyone who attended the Kiwanis Family Picnic for all of the support in planning such an amazing event and attending! Yours in Service, Elizabeth Johnson
