The villa has fantastic views of the fjord and mountains, seen through horizontal windows. The west walls have the largest openings, inviting birdviews of the village as well as the landscape. The south side opens to the sunlight. The east side has the least windows. The north side has less openings probably also to block the wind from the fjord.

the building an obscure complex. It is carefully designed in many aspects, standing out in the local context. it shows respect to nature by humbly merging into the landscape as terraces, connected by interesting outdoor stairs. the use of material and the way to combine them with the volume is a success. heavy walls are painted white, light wood surfaces are painted dark brown, roofs and window frames appear as red lines. fantastic views especially in the diningroom and livingroom. the many doors both outside and inside make spaces very flexible and playful, allowing different activities to happen without disturbing each other. two fireplaces and a stove warm the house, connecting the main rooms. however, there are many peculiar spacial arrangements as well. The height of most spaces seem too low for a school but OK for living. the stairs in the external office part is . what could be done about the villa? I think it is not necessary to demolish it and build something new. keeping the exterior and interior spaces can help understand the background of NKD and Fagerheim. the entrance hall, the livingroom, the meeting room, and the clubroom are most important spaces, which are to be kept. it can be good to take away the rotten parts like taking away a bad tooth, which are in the southern part. the living spaces in the southern part can be replaced by public programs related to NKD, such as small auditorium, gallery, music room, small gym and so on. the collection from Fagerheim's wife should placed back into the spaces, changing the whole part as a casual museum. and additional spaces can be attached to provide extra living spaces. the new part can be equipped with efficient heating and lighting systems, which is used all year round, and the northern part can be used mainly during summer.
