nexus

Due to its strategic location in the Chicago’s River Mouth [ between Navy Pier and Grant Park ] this project has the intention of generating an important social node in the form of a mixed-use high rise building project. Designed to fulfill the necessities of growing housing space necessities in this dense city, the idea behind the project is to accommodate housing, commerce and public space integrally. Leaving the ground as the public and accessible for passing by pedestrians and linking it to other social areas of the building in the vertical axis.

interface

3RD dimension of public space When faced with the reality of the urban icon we get confronted by the questioning of it’s service and programatic value to the city. A typical urban icon in Mexico is characteried by a strong image, wich certainly works as visual reference in the urban fabric but most of the they lack of real support for the dynamic city life that sorrounds them. Interface is a cultural hub combined with a network of public corridors and plazas, where the architectural mass has a secondary imporance to give the public space the full protagonism of the iconicity.

built recycling

jackson st parking [ phoenix] ramp relocation for flat space

Thinking about the future of the built mass on our cities and the vast amount of buildings that no longer serve their original purpose this design intervention seeks to evaluate how an outdated and underused structure can be interveined and renovated in a way that creates a positive impact on the urban landscape. The new ASU Art Faculty Building proposes the creation of an artistic interface that combines natural and artificial layers with the intention to achieve a complex sensorial experience, maximizing the atmosphere for creative thinking.

navex Navex is a construction company who asked VG+VM architects to design their corporate building. With a very small site, the idea was to maximize the space usage in the vertical axis and to create experience pockets where the users could interact visually with different parts of the city.

VENTO 22

Vento 22 is a residential project with 22 apartment units. This is an investment project, therefore efficiency in cost was crucial for the design. We decided to create one single typology of living unit that could transform according to programmatic needs. The resultant is three towers that share the same floorplan but with the play of exterior terraces and orientation the repetitiveness gets broken. project role: conceptual design, rendering coordination and construction drawings.
