“Every Child Deserves Access to Arts Education.“

Art for City Youth’s Teaching Artists employ Visual Thinking Strategies during in-class sessions and exhibition tours to expand their students’ vocabulary and inspire creativity. Family Art Day

Tour for Youth

Open Studios for Youth

Family Art Day has partnered with over a dozen community partners to produce the Family Art Day. Youth and families gathered to celebrate community through art activities, performances, and a showcase of art projects created by youth and students. Artspan continues this partnership by hosting studio visit tours for students during open studios events.

Tour for Youth hosts studio tours for students K-8th grade, focusing on connecting youth and families with working artists in their neighborhoods. Studio tours give kids much needed arts exposure and produce memorable experiences through visits to unique locations and oneon-one conversations with the artists. Past tours have included fine art demonstrations and hands-on art-making with professional printmakers, painters, and mixed media artists.

In the SF Open Studios during October, students are given the opportunity to participate in SF Open Studios and discover art in their own neighborhood. Art for City Youth artists lead students on one-hour tours of the SF Open Studios Exhibition in the SOMArts Cultural Center, engaging in guided discussions of artwork using Visual Thinking Strategies, interactive questioning, and fun creative art activities.
