Trevor Ryckman, Manager Digital Marketing Services Rina Rosen, Senior Business + Technology AnalystAI Language Model:
• ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence language model developed by OpenAI, based on the GPT-4 architecture, designed to generate human-like responses in text-based conversations.
Natural Language Processing:
• It excels in natural language processing tasks, including text generation, summarization, translation, and question-answering, enabling it to understand and respond to user inputs in a coherent and contextually relevant manner.
Context Awareness:
• ChatGPT can generate contextually relevant responses by taking into account the information provided in previous messages, allowing for more engaging and meaningful conversations.
Broad Applications:
• The model has diverse applications across various industries, such as customer support, content creation, education, and research, assisting users with tasks ranging from answering questions to providing detailed explanations or suggestions.
Advanced AI:
• ChatGPT is built upon the cutting-edge GPT-4 architecture, which represents a significant leap in language modeling and natural language understanding capabilities.
Human-like Interaction:
• The model's ability to generate contextually relevant and coherent responses in text-based conversations closely mimics human-like interactions, making it a powerful tool for various applications.
Scalability:
• ChatGPT's advanced natural language processing capabilities can be applied to a wide range of industries and use cases, from customer support to content generation, enabling businesses and users to scale their operations effectively.
Democratizing AI:
• The technology behind ChatGPT lowers the barrier to entry for AI applications, allowing developers and businesses to harness its potential in more accessible and user-friendly ways.
"Until now, artificial intelligence could read and write, but could not understand the content. The new programs like ChatGPT will make many office jobs more efficient by helping to write invoices or letters. This will change our world," - Bill Gates
• Begin with information about your nonprofit, share your mission statement. Even direct ChatGPT back to your nonprofit website for reference. Teach the tool on what your NPO does.
• So you are writing a 5-part Welcome Series. Great! But is it for new donors? People who attended an event? Your newsletter subscribers? What action by the end of this email are you hoping they might take?
• You can improve the quality of your emails by prompting the tone (friendly) and the defined role of the writer (maybe your CEO?) for ChatGPT. You can even keep on brand by teaching ChatGPT your previous communications/writing style.
• Does the first response feel too generic? Does the call to action feel too abrupt? This is where providing feedback on what you do and do not like to ChatGPT is useful to get an end product you are happy with.
• ChatGPT is very imaginative! This is good for content creation however there is bias in the data it provides you and sometimes it makes things up that may not be truthful.
• Always have internal stakeholders check for accuracy and do your QAs.
• ChatGPT was trained with large amounts of text data, and generates response from patterns and associations in this data. It may create a response based on what the system believes should exist (as we saw in the video. A Corporate Page in EN doesn’t exist ;0)
• ChatGPT can provide some instructions however you’ll never know whether the instructions are helpful until you run through them. This is why it is not recommended to rely on ChatGPT for technology recommendations, strategy or direction. Always ask an EN expert for accuracy before applying training gathered through ChatGPT
• ChatGPT will often “make up” what it believes should exist because it is always trying to provide an answer even if that answer is wrong. It will keep trying to get a “thumbs up” experience evaluation from the user. .
• Always spend time checking sources provided to establish credibility. Sometimes those links or tabs ChatGPT believes should be there, simply aren’t.
