Visual Timeline

The initial four co-founders of the Archoisseur Design Studio have been intimate friends who admired and appreciated each other during their University studies. They almost worked on every group project together and planed to start their own practice one day. After their graduation in 2022, Yucheng decided to accumulate a variety of architectural cultures by travelling and brought extensive experience to various international projects.

Xiaojia successfully received an architectural graduate internship offer from PTW Architects in Sydney and started to work on the actual projects. Jieyu, on the other hand, got opportunities to participate in lots of different large projects in the construction phase, to learn how various systems are integrated, and various project management procedures. At the same time, Wenxuan worked at the university as a tutor of design courses and conducted her vernacular architecture research in parallel.

After a few years of practice, four co-founders have all realised the architecture is going to be one of the most inclusive and comprehensive fields, especially when the building technology intersect with the biology and blend the nature and city as a whole system. Consequently, they started their own practice and began to explore the edge of the future.

PHILOSOPHY

We are small size proprietary company founded by three Architects and one Landscape Architect. We choose the business structure as limited liability, meaning the shareholders and directors are not liable for the debts of the company. A member of the company can easily be replaced as each shareholder's role within the business is clearly defined. Design solutions created by the company and cannot be taken by individuals if they leave. We believe this structure allows for future growth.

Archoisseur Design Studio treats blending nature & city as our fundamental philosophy. The design team has been applying insights from ecology to architecture, to see how physical space can help build stronger relationships. Our design intents and typologies are all based on eco-friendly concepts. The aim of design is not only to bolster the living environment and urban fabric but also to improve the quality of people's life, spatially and emotionally. We have been applying a designoriented professional multi-disciplinary team structure, to adequately comprehend a variety of dimensions to cope with different types of projects.

Archoisseur Architects believe there is no more the ‘era of the ego’. The future is in collaboration and in trying to connect to people outside our industry. Hence, we are keen to collaborate with clients and teams across the globe to build an ecological community that responds to different local contexts.

Archoisseur | 12

FIRM AMBITION

Architecture should not just be a gigantic consuming island sitting on the ground, it should be a part of our productive grid and should be capable to give back to the surrounding and to the community.

18

Our company respects and understands the needs of the clients and vision, adding creativity; bring more possibilities, and solving difficulties. We share a collective ambition to deliver high quality projects for our client to reach their objectives through collaborating. We are doing our best to tackle complex problems and provide experience and knowledge. We create the design not only to meet clients’ expectations but also to working on improving on sustainable possibilities of the project. We are promoting to design of Nature-inspired architecture by understanding the rules behind nature. We are keen to create a sense of identity, a sense of time, and a sense of place through architecture; we are keen to accommodate a rising population with a more ecological way of building; we are keen to figure out how can architecture contribute to make our cities more resilient and contribute to building future-proof communities.

FIRM CULTURE

COLLABORATION

MULTI-DISCIPLINARY APPROACH

As a design team, we always keep the minds wide open. We need to work with leading experts in other fields as well as the daily commuters. We believe that could stimulate the creative vitality and the potential of the community. We also focus on problemsolving collaboration between architects and engineers, to comprehensively manage the workflow in practice.

As the ‘Multi-disciplinary Approach’ has become modernity’s ambitious manifesto, the multi-disciplinary practice including architecture, urban design, interior design, and landscape architecture results in a distinctive perspective from each design discipline. We bring meaningful dialogues and inspiring ideas by creating the design concept that associates with its space, culture, and the public, to liberate architecture from utilitarian rigour.

26

28

27

BILATERAL TALK

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

We encourage architects to communicate closely with customers to achieve the expectation of customers. We also encourage customers to express their thoughts with us. We believe that communication can help us understand each other effectively. We care about all the evaluations and opinions made by our customers on our work process.

We pay great attention to energy conservation, emission reduction, and environmental protection in our daily work. Every employee is required to continue the firm culture with their practice and work. We believe that fundamental design principles can only integrate into the design processes when we practice this principle with actual implements.

REGISTRATION by Architect Registration Board, subject to “fitness to practice” evaluation and payment of fee The most common pathway to registration is completion of an accredited Australian architecture qualification followed by the Architectural Practice Examination. In consultation with the State and Territory Architect Registration Boards AACA has developed a number of alternative pathways.

Local and overseas experienced practitioners may be eligible to complete the fast-track assessment before applying to the local Architect Registration Board. The National Program of Assessment provides access to the Architectural Practice Examination for practitioners who have not completed an accredited architectural qualification. For practitioners who completed an architectural qualification outside Australia the Overseas Qualifications Assessment provides access to the Architectural Practice Examination.

STUDIO REGISTRATION Landscape Architect

ELIGIBILITY

FEE

To become eligible for registration, a person must have completed an approved course (Master of Architecture degree from a recognised University) and have passed the national Architectural Practice Examination (APE). A list of the approved courses leading to a qualification for registration can be obtained here Approved Qualifications for Registration.

The Architectural Practice Board of South Australia sets the fees for registration in accordance with the Architectural Practice Act. (See Schedule of Fees and Charges).

If you do not have an approved qualification recognised for registration you can consider alternative pathways to registration as outlined on the Architects Accreditation Council of Australia (AACA) website.

Registration and renewal fees are statutory fees. These fees are therefore not subject to the Goods and Services Tax. Tax invoices will be not provided for renewal or registration fees. You should keep your receipt if required for taxation purposes.

Recently, two new pathways were approved - Overseas Architect Assessment (OAA) is a pathway for overseas registered architects who have the appropriate skills and knowledge and are not eligible for registration under existing mutual recognition agreements. Contact the AACA for information and application forms.

FIRM PROCUREMENT

COMPETITIVE PROCUREMENT An open competitive procurement process ensures fair and ethical treatment of suppliers' tenders (Ray n.d.). The traditional open competitive procurement process is used by our company as a general procurement process. In the selection of procurement contractors, we will conduct multiple comparisons, generally using the traditional procurement process to allow all interested parties to submit work tenders and provide all necessary documents to compete fairly for the work. This traditional procurement process is based on guidelines set by the federal government. However, in order to avoid conflict, the client can also choose its own contractor.

47

This traditional, open, competitive procurement process allows each company to be treated fairly and award contracts to the most suitable suppliers. It avoids the loss of personal preference.

FIRM MARKETING

PRINCIPLE The company will continue to pursue ecology, environmental protection, and originality. As a nature-focused architectural design company, the working atmosphere is free, exploitative, cooperative and competitive. The company is staffed by experienced designers and young people with potential. Our employees come from all over the world, with design experience in many countries and different types of projects. Both senior staff and interns could participate in the project design process. The collaboration and discussion among these employees often lead to exciting results for design inspiration and presentation. In this process, both senior and junior employees can learn from and improve each other, and ultimately promote the development of the whole company. Because the projects the company deals with are global. Therefore, every employee in the company will make sure that they will have some overseas working experience and be able to easily cope with various styles and cultures in the design process. In terms of working hours. Pay attention to the combination of work and rest. Each time a project is completed, the company will host an experience sharing session either as an individual or in conjunction with AILA and/or AACA. You can learn from and discuss with your peers while sharing your experiences. After the experience sharing session, each employee will have a long vacation. This kind of humanized work arrangement can reduce the pressure of employees and make the work more efficient.

In addition to improving the quality and reputation of our employees, we are also: 1. Use social media. We use LinkedIn to connect and establish ourselves as the authority in the sector. Using image-based networks like Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest to host images from your portfolio may inspire people to talk about your topic. 2. Generate services with potential customers We will create a website to promote the service. Typically, these sites contain tables that companies use to capture visitor information. If the visitor enters their information, it will be sent to you and you can treat it as a hot message. After all, this person has just shown interest in your company. 3. Invest in a website portfolio Improve the quality of official website information and web pages, make the content on the website organized and purposeful, and attract potential customers while building the company's brand. And use it in conjunction with social media to increase the company's visibility and exposure.
